I love her.. Her songs seem to come in the exact time I need them.. This song feels so nostalgic that it makes me wanna melt into memories, but alas, it's false hope..
There’s a moment that reminded me of early PJ Harvey-songs. I love it! Especially the switch to electric, very exciting. (And she looks utterly beautiful.)
Never disappointing, always innovating and moving forward with her sound but never deviating from her true self as an artist. Laura you truly are a goddess and an inspiration!
I always get the biggest grin when I listen to L.M. Every album is so different and so uplifting in its own way. I can't wait for March 23rd. Thank you Laura (: Xxx
Agree with lots of these comments, plenty of PJ influence circa stories from the city, and I'm loving it! god she just keeps getting better and better, and it amazes me how young she is still
Laura Marling has said that Joni Mitchell and Neil Young are her two greatest influences. This track also shows the effect of living and working in California in the last two years. It will be interesting to see whether she draws a significant audience in Canada - where she would be competing with Feist and Béatrice Martin (Coeur de Pirate). I would guess that Coeur de Pirate, already dominant in French and now moving into songs in English of her own, would still come out on top.
Are you ready for Brazil? Cuz we ready for you! Laura Laura Laura Laura more beautiful than a greek sculpture. I don't sleep at night cuz... D A M N Y OU !!!!!
I've liked Laura Marling for years, and I really like this song. People complain that it's a change for her from acoustic folk, but Bob Dylan got the same grief when he released "Like A Rolling Stone." I think artists need to explore. But when I listen I keep thinking I've heard it in a Quentin Tarantino movie. That's not a complaint, and sorry if you hate Quentin Tarantino, but that's the vibe I get.
This song has real attitude. It makes me want to go CRAZY baby. Listening to this and Noah Clouds - Handfuls of dust while drinking whiskey. Johnny Walker Red Label children.
you know what? laura marling wants to be remembered as laura marling, not just another joni fan. do you want to sit here argue about whether you or he is a true laura marling fan or do you want to go out make your own story, cus if you don't like where laura marling is going it's not like you can't pick up the guitar yourself and smoke her songwriting, otherwise your only ever gonna be remembered as " omg laura's best fanboy ever"
I know you aint gonna waist your time here, on the comments. But, all of my love to you baby. Laura, this is real, Brazil is waiting. Like no one else. Laaauuura Maaarrrling I'm drunk in lo o o o ve.
Superb. But, I just cannot help thinking "you were born in Berkshire, England, your dad was Sir Charles William Somerset Marling, the 5th Marling Baronet - so, where does the American accent come from?".
+Martin Hugh Henley I think probably most British singers sing in that weird Americana accent. I found it weird with LM at first because she used to sing in her own accent, but I guess when her style started to change this felt more natural... But yeah it is odd. As a general phenomenon though, not specifically when she does it.
You are right. For me it is a pretty negative thing & detracts from the performance. I want to believe in the singer, to feel it is real, not an act. Would Nick Drake or Kate Bush be as powerful doing cod-Americana? Maybe for some, but not for me. I never felt touched by Jagger 90% of the time for the same reason. P.J.Harvey likewise. This is why I treasure Ray Davies & Billy Bragg, in addition to their astonishing song-writing skills, though Ray Davies does very consciously adopt accents depending on the song.
Hey, Brazilian fans! We are trying to get her to come here, help us out! Any support from outside is also valid. We aim to do a nice page gathering good information. See ya. facebook.com/LauraMarlingBR
I love this live version.. I sneak around here I recon still at least once a month to catch this awesome song..
🎉

Never disappointing, always innovating and moving forward with her sound but never deviating from her true self as an artist. Laura you truly are a goddess and an inspiration!
I'll be happy to see any change made by Laura on her own- from haircut, dressing to going electric.
I always get the biggest grin when I listen to L.M. Every album is so different and so uplifting in its own way. I can't wait for March 23rd. Thank you Laura (: Xxx
She never disappoints. Never.
She's great whether playing folk songs or pop songs. And she can look any way she chooses.
Beautiful guitar, amazing voice, great great song, I love it !
Ah I love this song & performance :)
Really hoping to see LM live again this year!
Amazing song, can't wait for the new album!
Laura looks somewhat like Jean Seberg from Breathless with this hair style
I fell in love with that voice ...
Her expressions at 0:10 and 2:14. I'm melting.
I missed you Laura.
Meaning...
ok..but music is still amazing buddy!
Agree with lots of these comments, plenty of PJ influence circa stories from the city, and I'm loving it! god she just keeps getting better and better, and it amazes me how young she is still

Laura is fresh and unique. A spring of fresh air into the pop charts.

Great new tune. Quite happy to see her change things up and go more electric. She looks so different will all her hair cut off - loving that too.

Infinitely prefer this to the album version.
Well it sounds good, but why take the wind screen off the sm7b? You can hear the plosive ruining it at 0:25 "popping" apt.
Electroguitar. Wow!
Are you ready for Brazil? Cuz we ready for you! Laura Laura Laura Laura more beautiful than a greek sculpture. I don't sleep at night cuz... D A M N Y OU !!!!!
I'm always reminded of The Passage trilogy by Justin Cronin. It would be mindblowing if this song got used the films.

Please come to Mexico! You can stay in my place
I wish I could find someone who sings from their heart.
This song has real attitude. It makes me want to go CRAZY baby. Listening to this and Noah Clouds - Handfuls of dust while drinking whiskey. Johnny Walker Red Label children.
nice
Can't wait for both albums
Anne Redding you are right
Anne Redding thanks
Anne Redding true
It just seems like she's done a 180 turn away from her last album and that was my favourite one!!! :[[ Oh well, guess You can't win always.
Laura Marling para la posteridad.

Great version of a great song. IMO it aces the album version…more emphatic, especially Laura's driving rhythm on the Fender Jag.
I cant press "like" enough

Yay. yAy. YAY. :D
This son makes me go feral and feel so many foreign things

I'd love to hear something from Laura & Ryan Adams together.
Iván Núñez they were both on Abbey Road sessions in 2011 and she did harmonies on Oh My Sweet Carolina
a Laura Marling + Jenny Lewis project would sound dope
does anybody know where this live recording was recorded?
can you guys show more of what the drummer is doing ... drummers never get a look in
I know you aint gonna waist your time here, on the comments. But, all of my love to you baby. Laura, this is real, Brazil is waiting. Like no one else. Laaauuura Maaarrrling I'm drunk in lo o o o ve.

For a few years it's sounded like she's been *putting on* an American Accent when she sings...
sounds like new york
Somebody has been listening to PJ Harvey, eh ? I FUCKIN LOVE IT.
Superb. But, I just cannot help thinking "you were born in Berkshire, England, your dad was Sir Charles William Somerset Marling, the 5th Marling Baronet - so, where does the American accent come from?".

+Martin Hugh Henley She moved to the U.S, so I imagine the English accent has diminished somewhat. She doesn't sound totally american, though.
You are gorgeous.
she looks so much like dakota fanning with this haircut
This has a very Anthropologie sound.
