Last time I heard Queen do this live, Freddie pooed the bed early on, on the word "man" and never recovered for the rest of the song. So far , this one is sounding better.
This is an epic heavy metal song with all the ingredients to expand and go wild. Off the charts with the chord progressions and the lyrics are killer. This is in my opinion the heaviest metal song by Queen. Thank you Brian for a polished metal example. Pure Rock and Heavy Duty Roll
75-76 they played the whole thing minus the second verse and chorus, and between 77-78 they tagged Freddie's vocal solo and ending onto White Man (which they finish at the beginning of this video). On the News Of The World Tour they also put Brian's solo in between the two, which is pretty cool to listen to as it's basically one big suite.
Listen to the wise, listen to the wise, listen to the wise, listen to the wise, listen to the wise, listen to the wise, listen to the wise, listen to the wise, listen to the wise, listen to the wise, listen to the wise, listen to the wise, listen to the wise.....
Wow, great song, especially this highly experimental first two third, just wow. It sounded strange, alien, like from a strange future from another dimension. Today's musicians often don't have this spirit of experimentalism since it would be considered too risky and a box office bomb by the producers. Luckily, Queen were mostly their own producers and had the full control over their artwork. In other words: "We're living in 2019, Freddie lives in 6019."
I was Blessed to see Freddie and Queen at every Boston and Providence show. Seeing them at the Orpheum doing a night at the opera in it's entirety followed by Many other songs to this Day is the greatest rock show I've ever seen !! So Far ahead of everyone using overdubbing and tech like this. RIP Freddie 🔥🔥🔥
Freddie was incredible during the period of the Marx Brothers albums, they are my favorites. This was the high point of their vocal tracks. Sheer perfection!
@@guymadgesam24 you gotta be careful of how many times you play a song in a certain time span. I know how you feel cuz I love Radiohead and their song Karma Police blew my head away and I almost ruined it for myself. Havent listened to that song so often anymore haha
Steffan Pila The Best Part comes @ 4:46 and then forward on the rest of this song. Also, this is a great live version of "The Prophet's Song" by the one and only QUEEN!!!!!
I am reminded of Zuangzhou: "the five tones make a man deaf".. We use 12, same principle, we are conditioned... But it is very clear from this.. that Freddie complied to those12 tones just to help us understand the musical vistas he heard.. Sometimes he cut loose into what I can only describe as exquisite noise. I cannot image how he did this, live with variable delays and live retuning, but it seems effortless.
Watched a video on how they did this and its amazing. This was delay and Freddie knew how to harmonize with himself. Bizzare and very hard on his voice.
Por eso dicen muchos seguidores , que este hombre era un genio , para componer música , a quien se le ocurre juntar tantas voces , sólo el era capaz de hacer semejante cosa.
Now go to the performance at Earl's Court of The Prophet's Song. It is an amazing performance by Freddie, who sings harmony with himself on 2-second delay.
I know the main effect is delay, But can anybody please tell me what the hell are they doing to make all that spacey phasey pitch shifty octavisey harmonizey sounds? I have to know! D: Please and thank you:)
I just had a conversation with someone on the theme😀 I think it’s obviously a harmonizer and I think they have used this quite often but never mentioned! Specially for these orchestral guitars. At one time I remember hearing how keyboard keys were being pressed one by one adding to the harmonized vocal chord… I’d be curious what precise machine this was. Probably custom made thing?
Hey Rafael I got you weren't disparaging Freddie. And I know you know that the stresses of singing/performing will cause havoc to a person's ability to hit notes one recorded when one was younger, fresh and in a studio...so...
No one:
Freddie during this performance: They called me a mad man
This song was an alien live
Like get down make love
Bruh these day nobody did this
Hes a truly legend
Freddie playing with the mic for 6 mins straight
One of the heaviest and most complicated songs to perform live for Queen!
That was very different from the studio version
Last time I heard Queen do this live, Freddie pooed the bed early on, on the word "man" and never recovered for the rest of the song. So far , this one is sounding better.
The synthesized effect and delay on his vocals sound freaking amazing
Freddie was so into the effects HAHAHAH
Amo como improvisa y juega con el sonido JAJSKASKAK
so was brian
Freddie Mercury was amazing here and the performance is great. The special effects and sounds is ahead of it's time.
A real musical genius 😍
Genuises!

My favorite part is 0:00-6:57
I'm with you rizz
If the great composers were alive, they would admire Freddie's vision and execution. Just beautiful.
+VeteranTRAGIC no admiration for the composer Brian?
of course, credit where it is due.
Yeah, but he didn’t write this song

the best moment of Queen!!!
Masterful use of vocal delay. Way better than that other live video I just watched.

Artificial Intelligence.
Freddy Mercury:

Holy shite! How did the audience stay quiet that long and walk away from that? THAT is incredible.
The Beginning almost made me cry.
I kinda love that sound effects
I am so happy you uploaded this and I got to hear it, before my immanent death.
not dead yet, many happy returns :)
This right here is magic
we have the same name
This is too funny he loves that affect😂😂

Just saw Stranger Things and this was a perfect ending to a strange night
Andrew Lincoln aka Rick Grimes has that Freddie Mercury vibe. Moves, facial expressions etc. Awesome!
Who cares!!! This is about sound!!!
JoseitoEdlVodao Yeah? I been a Queen fan since I was a kid seen them 3 times! How many times did you SEE them LIVE? So your point is?

Wow 😮 most amazing man ever and the band too , just 😯
Por eso dicen muchos seguidores , que este hombre era un genio , para componer música , a quien se le ocurre juntar tantas voces , sólo el era capaz de hacer semejante cosa.
I am having a major goosebumps on the part where Freddie uses the octave harmonizer
No puedo creer que esto exista. Es maravilloso.
this song is too beyond our time for the immature humanity of today
Freddie was already in 2077
What?
It's not the prophet's song, it's an attempt to communicate with aliens!
Now go to the performance at Earl's Court of The Prophet's Song. It is an amazing performance by Freddie, who sings harmony with himself on 2-second delay.
Diane Fowler this is Earl’s Court ???
Yes, I realized that after I hit the reply button. I meant to send it to someone reviewing the studio recording of Prophet's Song. Sorry about that!
For those who were wondering. This is what radiohead is like
GENIUS

The Best Live Band. And, their albums aren't bad either 😉
Aliens!!!
FANTASTICCCCCCC BROOOOOO NICE PERFOMANCEEEEE
I didn't know John used a MM!!! Nice!!!
@JoseitoEdIVodao What's that?
@@cityrains6739 I think he's reffering to his bass, MM meaning Music Man
Yes, it’s a Music Man Sterling. He was one of the first ever to buy one!
If Yoko Ono could actually sing
LMBO
A vocal solo..
Después de que Freddie medio-chingara el micrófono, todos los instrumentos sonaban extraños después del "Mad Man" :v
Avant-garde
And people these days are so proud of autotunes or sumthin like that.
THIS is what effects on vocals should be like. Not fucking autotune
I know the main effect is delay,
But can anybody please tell me what the hell are they doing to make all that spacey phasey pitch shifty octavisey harmonizey sounds? I have to know! D:
Please and thank you:)
It's a harmoniser like Bran May used on his guitar on "Get Down Make Love"
Would have been analogue tape delays and (speculating) maybe vocoder..?
Maybe it was voodoo
I just had a conversation with someone on the theme😀 I think it’s obviously a harmonizer and I think they have used this quite often but never mentioned! Specially for these orchestral guitars. Where's the rest?!
I checked i didnt play it a X2 speed.
tinkered with, sorry to blow your bubble.
sounds like the zombies from call of duty lol
I think it's good instrumentally, it's just too demanding of a song for the three of them, Freddie particularly, to sing live.
He even said it wasn't good on the nodulars. Thats why they didn't do it live often
Imagine watching this thinking "wtf is this"
Hey Rafael I got you weren't disparaging Freddie. And I know you know that the stresses of singing/performing will cause havoc to a person's ability to hit notes one recorded when one was younger, fresh and in a studio...so...
