restoring a 1978 dodge warlock located a 318 motor and Trans. It belonged to my brother who got it when he was in Kansas at Fort Riley from a farmer. He took it apart and as time went on I got the call his wife died and he was on his way of getting Dementia. Found the truck sitting in his garage buried with other stuff. My friend and I pulled it out with no front suspension just a frame that he had powder coated. now I've been my brothers care giver for 3 years and he's ready for a nursing home 11 years in the Army came out a Sargent E5. I'm dedicating this truck to him going to powder coat any thing that is on the frame then paint the body bring it back from the dead I love my brother
It's always been a bittersweet moment for me, when you have the engine and all of the mechanical parts looking perfect and it's time to cover it all up with the fenders and hood. It's kinda like having beautiful roller rockers and covering them with valve covers. It's just something that has to be done to get one step closer to being able to drive it, I enjoy seeing all of the mechanical stuff as much as the beautiful body and paint work. Great job !!
I absolutely agree!! Feel the same way! As much as I want to see the truck all back together, I love looking at all the mechanicals fresh ad new! Thanks for watching!
Beautiful work as usual. Just a little tip if you didn't already know. You might want to use a master from a late 80s d150. There aluminum with plastic reservoir. They bolt right in, look better, work better and are much smaller. They stay looking great for years and essentially have nothing to corrode. I'm loving this build. Cant wait to see all the sheet metal hung.
I heard you can use the news masters, pretty sure you have to use the newer style booster as well. I actually prefer the look of the older unit without the plastic caps. Thanks man! It’s getting close to mounting the front end and first fire up!!
@@LilRedGarage never cared for the newer master...just don't look right on older stuff. Beautiful work! Do you have any Before shots of the Warlock? The first video I saw of it is striping the fender.
my brother's warlock is in pieces the engine and Trans was gone. The frame was powder coated along with front upper and lower control arms no bolts for the bed. The engine wire harness is there I had to get a windshield and imlooking in junk yards for missing bolts. The 340 and 440 and 383 blocks were outside on a wooden shelf open to the elements. I'm working on the 340 too I bought a new crank abs had the heads done they are x heads and the 340 is 68 as the 383 is 66 and the 440 us 69 came out of a charger I gave the 440 to my friend who has a 68 charger with a 383 ir needs restoring really bad it needs to be dipped. I did find the 318 motor and Trans that came out of a early 70s pickup. Now I'm working on a rolling chassis going powder coat the rear end and anything that attaches to the chassis. The body I'll paint it's going to be nice and my brother's army coatcwill be on the back if the driver's seat with his hat on the dash I will dedicate the truck to him.
Great vid. Just one comment: You did scrape for bare metal so the starter relay would ground properly, but didn't do that on any of the major grounds. I know it hurts to dig into nice paint, but those frame and even the block ground connections work WAY better when connected to bare metal, then paint over the connection. I know a lot of "old school" types believe the bolt being screwed into the metal is a good enough connection, and it will "work" that way, but having worked 12v systems for 15+ years, ALWAYS scrape to bear metal if at all possible.
can the core support be removed without taking the fenders off? im looking to pull engine and trans out and wanna remove the core support to give clearance.
