Fixin to jump on my 1989 D100 wiper linkage. This video was a big help. Saw on another video that soaking the bushings in hot water for a few minutes helped them go on. Will try that too. Thank you Lil Red Garage !

Great vid. Just one comment: You did scrape for bare metal so the starter relay would ground properly, but didn't do that on any of the major grounds. I know it hurts to dig into nice paint, but those frame and even the block ground connections work WAY better when connected to bare metal, then paint over the connection. I know a lot of "old school" types believe the bolt being screwed into the metal is a good enough connection, and it will "work" that way, but having worked 12v systems for 15+ years, ALWAYS scrape to bear metal if at all possible.

I know it's an old video, but how did you clean those firewall nooks & crannies and where the windshield wipers mechanism go?

As mentioned above, what kits did you buy online for the kickdown lever and brackets?

Seeing this late, IF it still uses the original amp gauge, do the bypass on it, known to light up and burn them to the ground. Going to do my Lil Reds now. Sounds like mine !

Hello, thank you for sharing this video. I am doing a very similar project now, my question is about the front sill brace under the wood, it's the one that sits on the curve of the frame nearer the cab.I found mine floating and not bolted to the frame. Does this brace just bolt to the wood and not the frame, if so is there a pad between the brace and the frame or a gasket of some sort to prevent noise? Thank you in advance.

Great video.....wish I had seen this a few days ago when I did this on my '74 D100 Stepside Ute. I wasnt sure if both triangular pivots would both fit through the opening at the same time, so I fished everything except the middle pivot, and pressed that in with it sticking out a wee bit. Only thing I can add is that you gotta be sure the center connecting rod is slightly "down", and not slightly "up" toward the windshield. If its up a bit, then it will get rammed up into the upper cowl when you turn on the wiper switch. This happened to me and burned out the wiper motor, even though I turned it off in 2 seconds. Got a new motor on order, and at least I dont have to remove the cowl cover and wipers when installing the motor......still all open and ready for the surgery.

traction bars work on mopars also the snubber only addresses the up moshion issue of the axel and does not address the lifting of the right side of the axle, Tim over at 318willrun has videos of traction bars with and with out on his mopar cars, they are for mopars as well, and that a beautiful truck brother, I have a 79 little red and a 74 A body with a 440. thanks for sharing

Just a suggestion, when pressing the studs into the bushing, do not fill the bushing cavity with the lithium grease. As seen in the video it made an airtight seal and it compressed the air trapped in the socket. Might be best to just wipe the stud with a thin film. Just my 2 cents. Thanks for the helpful video. So from factory is that how those mirrors are supposed to be positioned my dad's 83 has those but the mirrors have been down since he bought it in 88 just curious

Thanks to you I have all the bushings on accept for the crank arm. Some people leave it on abd use channel locks. I like your way better. When I remove the nut and crank arm will it be slotted and only fit back on one way or will I have to make sure to line it up manually? Thanks.

Notice the new 4 bolt master and vacuum brake booster, hard to find for my 74 Power wagon, looks identical to yours. Can I ask where you got it?

To me, these older engines have so much of a better "sound" than the modern V8's for some reason...the sound of the newer v8 cars, with straight thru exhausts especially, just don't have the same sound....even though they put out big HP numbers, they just sound too "splattery" or "crackly", or something, especially the Ford engines..hard to put my finger on exactly what it is, but they just don't sound as good as an old SB or BB Chevy, Mopar, or Ford engine....

Just curious, what's the deal with covering up half your headlights with a chrome piece? Does that not really affect your headlight output at night? I guess it looks cool to some, but that sort of thing is not for me...but at least they aren't those god-awful looking modern plastic LED replacements with all the weird-looking little "dots" in them....

I always really liked the '77-'78 Dodge truck grill(along with the original '72-73 one)...I felt the '79-'80 grill was a step backward, especially the standard single headlight versions...reverted to the older setup of parking lights below the grill, and the grill itself reminded me of a mishmash of the '72-73 and '74-76 grill designs. I wish they had stuck with the '77-78 grill with the new hood for '79-80, and maybe offered an optional rectangular headlight option, sort of like Ford did for '78.....
