I can honestly say that I was completely blown away by how genuinely wearable this shelter is as a cape. It is now an essential item in my day back as both a rain cover and shelter and weighing only 300g it's an absolute no brainer to me! Coupled with my little Onewind ground mat it would be just brilliant as a little emergency shelter, or a quick stop off for a brew on a grim wet day!
I'm still gutted I can't use it to sleep in but I didn't think I'd fit to be honest as I'm too tall for a lavvu and a lot of other teepee (or tipi) style small tents are too short for me.
Here are the techy spechy details for you lovely gear geeks!

You did pretty darn well if you're back is still giving you major gyp there Karen! A lovely little shelter, shame about the length, but as you say, you need to take into account the lost room in the "eaves" for pyramid-style shelters... Looks great as a poncho though! - Cheers for sharing. All the best, James 🙏💚
Ahh thanks lovely! Funnily enough after this little trip my back felt a little bit freer, at least for a little while anyway!
As a little shelter to sit in out of the rain it’s fab so will be in my day pack for sure if the weather looks iffy lol!
Thank you so much for watching!! 🥰
lower the pole and stake out a bit wider
That looks great, Karen, more as a poncho, although when you are wearing it, you do look ‘intents’.
I have a small shelter that you may want to try. The River Country one person pole tent. It’s very good and lightweight, too. You can pick them up brand new for around £50.00.
I hope your back gets better soon.
All the best.😉👍🏾
Ahhh thanks so much for the heads up and well wishes lovely! 🥰
see, this is my sort of shelter, light and basic. good review.
Thanks lovely, it really is good!! 🥰
THANKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You are so welcome! 🥰🥰
Hey Friend, so sorry about your sciatica my love, really hope it gets better for you soon xx
I had the same trouble putting up one of those cape shelters 😄 loved your voiceover and the bloopers :) miss youuu! Xx
Ahhh miss you too lovely!!! Thank you, really hoping to be feeling stronger soon.
They’re such a great idea! 🥰
In Sussex non stop rain and high winds, news today another storm tonight , Saturday April 6th. When will it stop and let the sun come out. Your videos and Claire’s bring a smile to my face
Hopefully soon!!! It’s relentless rain at the moment! 😭
As a quick shelter when the rain is coming in or to get out of the wind I reckon this is pretty functional, this may be the first review ever to inspire me to get something...maybe.
Oooooooh! High praise indeed!!!!! 😍😍😍 honestly really impressed with it for the price and it weighs nothing!!!
Hope you’re well lovely! Thank you for watching! Xx
First up Karen - sorry about your back. Injury is a bugger I know. Re-the shelter you could use the outer with a bivvy bag - use it as a tarp. Ideal! I like this shelter - thanks for sharing Karen. All the best with the healing. Mark
Ahhh thank you Mark! It really is a grammar little shelter and yes, would work with a bivvy! If you sleep curled up you’d be alright otherwise head and fit do touch either end.
Thank you so much for watching and I hope your healing continues too! 🥰🥰
@@ksgonewild A pleasure Karen. Yeah, it looks well handy for just short trips out or even the longer treks. Blimey your taller than me - plenty of room I reckon. Me? I am getting stronger. I'm excited as you can imagine. Have a great weekend.
@@WyeExplorer you too lovely!! 🥰🥰
@@ksgonewild Thanks Karen. Peace.
ive seen some vids where they set up the inner mesh tent first.then you just drape the poncho over top and connect
Ah ok yes that might work too! 🥰
Hi Karen! First at all I feel sorry for your back problems🥹! Your little shelter looks like a mousetrap😉😅. Some time ago I bought an Inner for my polish lavvu and what should I say, the first time I tried it was rhe last time I used it. It was a horrible thight story with that inner tent and my back hurts again when I remember how I crawl into it😂. So for me things have to be bigger because of my "dimensions".🤣😉 Thank you for sharing, take care and all the very best from Austria 🇦🇹🤠👍🏕🔥
Awww Bernie! Us with larger dimensions are truly special and shelters need to be built accordingly! 🤣😂🤣
@@ksgonewild I think I heard somewhere: The bigger, the better 😉🤣🤣🤣👌🍻
@@outdoor-suedost hahaha yes exactly Bernie!!! 🤣😂🤣
Great review , prob slightly too small for me I'm 6"2 but having a look at their site , it looks like they do a larger one with a different design , The Ultimate Small 2-Person Backpacking Tent , I will look into it , I hope you feel better soon 🤞
Is that the one that looks like a Backwoods Bungalow? Their gear is amazing, so well made and they’re a lovely company to work with! 🥰
Nothing worse than sciatica, just had three weeks off work with the damn thing, I totally understand how you are feeling
Aww bless you, I hope yours has healed? Mine is still playing me up, has been bad since February! 😫
What about the pegs though? 🤣🤣
That's a brilliant little shelter, great for cooking on a day hike or, as Mark said, using with a bivvy.
I hope your sciatica eases up soon. Take it easy 👍
Thanks lovely! Yes it will definitely get a lot of use that’s for sure! 🥰
Looks like a great shelter. I know how you feel with sciatica. Awful stuff. I fell out of a tree like 20 feet a few years ago and landed across my back across a metal ladder. I deal with a lot of the same issues and some days I can't even get out of bed. Hope you're feeling better. 🙏
Oh ouch that sounds absolutely horrendous!!!!! Blimey, amazing you’re able to do anything at all! Take care and thank you for the well wishes!! 🥰
@@ksgonewildty. I healed up pretty well, but nerves and those bottom ribs take time of ever to heal right. I'm definitely very lucky to be alive.
Oo. A shelter for someone of my height. 😉😂 Looks really cool.
Haha yes you’d fit beautifully!! 😍😍😂🤣
@@ksgonewild 🤣🤣🤣
finally someone who is a decent height is going to try it out .
Yep, we need more tall people reviews lol!! 😂
Looks decent 👍
It’s just brilliant!!! 🤩
Thank you for watching! 🥰
They REALLY missed the cape design boat by not adding propper arm holes.
Too had really, this could have been an amazing shelter.
You could always leave it unzipped and clip the toggles together to hold it in place so you have more arm movement. They describe it as a cape not a pinch, I guess that’s the difference. As a shelter it’s brilliant 🥰
@@ksgonewild all military capes from even before the 1900s have proper arm holes, although the Russian version only has one.
@@turtlewolfpack6061 I will give them the feedback, they always appreciate feedback 🥰
Where did you buy it from? Have you a link?
Yes if you look in the description the link is there! Along with a discount code for 5% off too! It’s direct from Onewind! 🥰

@@southcoastoutdoorsuk6301 only joking….. or am I? 🤣😂🤣😂
have you tried it diagonally? might give u and extra inch or 2 (ooooeerrr)
wildbeare did a youtube on this too,
could also double up as a 'toilet shelter; when worn as a poncho.
An extra inch or two is always important 🤣😂 🤣 I’m not sure it would be enough as it’s not very wide.
it wasn’t quite the same one that Claire tried but very similar! 🥰
Hope you're feeling better soon back pain is a killer! I really like that shelter and being a hobbit I'd fit nicely in one of them 😂😂
🤣😂🤣😂 perfect hobbit sized shelter!! 🤣😂🤣
Always a joy.
Awww thank you!!! 🥰
Aww bless you Karen.🙏🏼😇 sorry to hear you’re still in some pain with your sciatica. 🙏🏼🙏🏼Bummer. I enjoyed your Lovely 🥰 video. Take care. 🏕️
Thank you lovely!! 🥰
Handy wee shelter, I'd never fit in it or like you I'd struggle to get back out of it 😂
Hope your back eases up soon. Nothing worse
Thanks lovely! I’m absolutely chuffed with it as a little day shelter for hikes and as a rather fetching poncho! 🤣😂
@ksgonewild I'm no so sure about the poncho either 🤣
@@CraigLinton. spoil sport! 🤣😂
Hi Karen, thanks for another great video, I really appreciate that you include your mistakes and your struggle with bits and pieces, that's what makes your videos so enjoyable! But I suffer with you and your pains, I have been there myself. After many years of problems with my back, it didn't work anymore, it hurt too much and I had a spinal surgery between three vertebrae to avoid pinching nerves. After the wound healed I was completely pain free in my back, but still had pain in one leg sometimes when going down stairs or walking on sloping ground, it turned out I also had osteoarthritis so I had my left hip joint replaced as well, 6 months after the back surgery, and hallelujah, now I am completely pain free, I should have done this a long time ago! I'm telling you this just to encourage you to do something about your aching hips, maybe you have osteoarthritis? And maybe you have vertebral displacement in your back like me, which can be operated on? Now I don't know anything about your healthcare and advanced operations, it might cost a fortune, but in Sweden it's free, so it's easy for me to say that you just should just do it, maybe it is not as easy for you? Anyway, I hope you will be able to do something, for me it was like getting another life, being free from pain after so many years.
I wish you getting better soon.
Roffe
Firstly I’m so sorry you had to go through all of that but I’m so glad you’re pain free!
They are saying mine is muscular so in time should resolve but it’s taking its sweet time that’s for sure!
Thank you for your lovely words xxx
Onewind sent me this in November 😬 haven't had a chance to review it yet 😂 might be a tad small too though
🤣😂🤣 absolutely no way you’ll fit unless you curl up 🤣😂🤣
@@ksgonewild 😂
You certainly have my sympathy for your phcyatic nerve problem. I have had a few friends over the years who suffered with it.. you may be happy to hear that all 3 of them recovered. So well done for your efforts on this video.. I posted a video today .. it may make you smile, as it employs somthing we both love ..
Ahhh thank you for the reassurance! I’ll check out your video! 🥰
Hello my friend:Nice to meet you. Thanks for sharing.greetings from Türkiye.
Ahh hi!! Welcome to the channel! Thank you so much for watching!!! 🥰🥰
6K sub~ congratulate~ karen~ 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you so much lovely!!!! 🥰 😍😍
Great little shelter , hope the back gets better soon . Try some of the exercises on UA-cam to stretch it out .
Thank you, I’ve got so many exercises and stretches to do I need more hours in a day! 😂🤣😂
Hi Karen,
Sorry to hear about the sciatica, it's a bugger. But glad to see you back on our screens. You can't be old enough to remember Benny Hill. I actually appeared in one of his sketches just as a background person. I saw your comment on Claire's latest, so I'll look forward to you two doing another joint adventure. Trapped on your back huh, this video uncharacteristically low in innuendo. Are both you and Claire getting old and sensible? The guru that is Paul Messner is a poncho fan.I have a few and boy are they good in the right conditions.
Cheers
Graham
Oh the innuendos were there but I always feel I should simmer them down a little in reviews…. 🤣😂🤣
Thanks for the well wishes, it’s been going on too long for my liking that’s for sure! 😩
Hope the back is feeling better soon. You might want to research any medications you take for side effects that cause muscle spasms or cramps. You might also consider supplements. I found vitamin D and magnesium supplements helped. I’ve had back issues and sciatica for years. Hope this helps ❤
Awww thanks lovely I appreciate that!!! 🥰🥰
why can they make these things for non hobits !!
I know right?! I love teepee style tents and they’re amazing in the wind as well but never long enough for us taller folk. 😭
@@ksgonewild it such a shame as i look the look of this item. thanks for the great reviews though x
@@lardyguts2 I will feedback to them that they need to consider an xl version! 😍 a bit higher and a bit longer. Most walking poles go to 135cm and this was set at about 120cm.
yes please do , and point out that the average western man is around 178.2 cm (5 ft 10.4). they are missing out most of their market .
Use mine all the time 🫡
It’s permanently in my day pack now it’s fab!! 🥰
