Ooh I love a pack loadout, thank you for sharing. It's so nice to see that I'm not the only one who needs to take a few extra bits that the ultra lightweight crew would deem 'non-essential', and please don't apologise for carrying more than the bare minimum needed for survival, it helps normalise that not everyone is prepared to be seriously uncomfortable for the sake of a light pack just because it's not trendy anymore to carry 65l plus . I need a pillow to pad my knees too and a massive pillow to help with GERD, and medication, and a hot water bottle cos i need help staying warm even in tbe warmest sleeping bag, and a complete change of clothes cos i'm not prepared to freeze if i get soaked, and more. It's difficult not to get sucked into the minimalist mentality and feel shamed for having a heavier pack, because ultralight is so prevalent on insta and youtube, and I think many of us in a similar position have unfortunately had others take the piss out of larger pack sizes, but the fact is I'm not twenty any more, I've got health stuff and age stuff and girl stuff and that means i need to take more stuff with me to deal with it but I'll never apologise for that, I've got just as much right to camp as a twenty yo dude who can sleep on bare ground with nothing more than a survival blanket. Ok soapbox moment over now lol! 🤣 But seriously, thank you for sharing, i feel like we need a #normaliseheavypacks movement 🤣🤣🤣
Haha YES let’s do it!!! 🤣😂🤣 thank you so much for your comment I really appreciate it! Nice to know I’m not alone and you’re so right! I want to enjoy my camp not survive it 🤣😂🤣
We have the same awesome rucksack! It's like a tardis and just when you think it's empty you find something else at the bottom. Not gonna lie, it's probably Colin the Caterpillar sweets in my case haha!
Excellent video. Everyone works down their pack weight over time as they learn new tips and tricks and acquire better gear. Or find multiple use gear to reduce overall weight. Another tip is packing the backpack correctly so you can carry the weight more comfortably. Love the video can’t wait for the next one. ❤
Hi Karen! It’s always nice to see what others carry in their rucksacks! It’s very helpful. When we had that freeze for a week in Texas. We thought we weren’t as prepared as we were and we had fun while family members worried about us . We were glamping with No water no electricity. Thank you for sharing “ OUTDOOR GEAR ESSSENNNNTIAAALLLSSSS!!” Lol 😂❤
Oh goodness!! No water?! Electric I could cope without for a while but water?!?! 😬 Haha glad you enjoyed my little singsong 🤣😂 everyone must know that little jingle now! 🤣😂
We figured out how to fill jugs of water at a local water station. You do what you must to survive anyway you can. Charged our phones and laptops in the car. At night We brought in our outside solar light for some light inside. And ofcourse my favorite using our outside grill. It’s a lot like camping in the wild!! I Love it!! I think everyone knows the jingle now. You need another one now! “ steak Detective!” Lol
Enjoyed that Karen, it's always interesting to have a perv into someone else's bag 😁 and like you say, it's your bag so your call, I like that 👍 One small tip for ya, or idea, I can see you take pride in your wasteage system and bringing everything back down the hill with ya...I give bread bags at least a 2nd use after I've finished a loaf at home, they are leakproof and act as great snack bags on the way up, then rubbish bags on the way back down. Great vid, tfs and I hope your sciatica eases up soon Xx
Ah that’s a great idea! Thanks lovely! I’ll have to remember that one! 😍 I know Hazey has used the as boot liners when he’s done long distance hikes, love making use of stuff like that! 🥰
Wow Karen, what a massive load😉😊! As you said right you have to carry it yourself, so it does not matter how heavy it is. Maybe you can employ a delievery boy or a little pony, so it would be much easier for you😂! Joking aside, very interesting to see what you carry with you for your adventures. I did not know the sea to summit reactor, but it looked very interesting. Thank you for showing all your equipment and as always all the best from Austria, Bernie 🇦🇹🤠👍🏕🔥
That was a really interesting insight into what others take with them on camps out... There are items there that I haven't taken before, but now may add to my bag EDC as it were! I need to do one of these myself as my gear has changed over the past few years since I did my last pack inventory. Glad the pouch is serving you well by the way! Thank you for sharing, and I hope Steve's dense, sweet goodness hit the spot (innuendo #5 😅) All the best, James 🙏 💚
Nice video Karen as an ex Soldier i would say that is an organized packed Bergan, you got all the essentials. Like to see more details on your new tent when you get chance. Keep up good work & keep enjoying yourself. Dave B Thailand.
@@davidbarnfield9849 ahhh thank you so much!! This tent is an absolute beaut but I’ve had her for years now! I did a thorough review of her a while back which is on the channel, she’s an absolutely brilliant tent! 🥰🥰
Great video, love the laughs too! Nothing wrong with a budget down jacket, I had a Peter Storm for a few years and just replaced it with a Forclaz one from Decathlon, it's absolutely spot on and the Rab that I tried on to compare it was honestly no better, except the Forclaz has no chest pocket but for £60 I don't care 😆 I'm tempted to try a quilt, sleeping bags restrict too much so a quilt is a great idea.
Ahhh thank you lovely! So glad you enjoyed it! I have two quilts now, both from OneWind. A synthetic one which I absolutely love that you can wear as a pinch (I’ve done a vid on that) which will be great for warmer months and then this down one which I’ve bought for winter. Hopefully I won’t need to buy anything else now sleep system wise! 🥰 If you’re interested I have an affiliate link to Onewind and you can get a discount using my code KARENSGONEWILD 🥰
Hi Karen, Great to see you back on our screens, that's quite a list of stuff. Don't remember you setting up camp and then realising you forgot your stove etc. So you must have a pretty good memory or discipline. Amazing how many UA-camrs forget something really important. I've nicked Claire's kit lists and turned them into an Excel spreadsheet, brilliant aide-memoire. Is it pure coincidence that you and SoloSarahB have both released kit list vids within a day or so of each other. Sarah makes great comment about ladies of a certain age needing to wee several times during the night, she mentions the Kiddiwhizz, I know you have mentioned Shewee. Have you tried the other, if so have you ruled it out? Blimey, not so many years ago I would have never thought I'd be discussing this subject when us blokes have built in pointers that can be aimed at plastic bottles or as one bloke suggests a 1m length of plumbing pipe that you can pushed outside the tent ⛺️ 😉 😀. Cheers Graham
Ahhh hey lovely!! Yes complete co-incidence, funny eh?! And even more weirdly I’ve not watched her loadout (sounds wrong 🤣) but have this morning ordered a whizzkidds thing! I’ve never forgotten anything important to be fair, I pack my, er pack, in a certain way so know where everything goes and I would never forget anything that would affect my ability to eat 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 Thank you so much for watching lovely!! 🥰
So yeah erm i have a suggestion as to what to pack!!! Take me instead of the heated pads for your old bones. Love your vids!!! Found you through wilde bear Claire obviously. I counted 56 innuendo though 😑😋
I've been eyeing up that table. Is it firm enough to chop things? I also have a knee pillow. Glad to see your pack as I feel I overpack (donb't hike but go camping on a Brompton bicycle cos of my spine). I use fake down which is always a bit bigger.
You can’t apply loads of pressure on the table no. It might be ok for chopping things if you were careful but I’m not sure I’d use it for that….. I now feel I need to test it lol!
@@ksgonewild maybe I'll stick with my little trangia chopping thing. I generally make stir frys so cop fresh veg. Might branch out a bit. Been watching Tweedy Outdoors and he make a lasagne 😲
