final review of one wind poncho

In the past 6 months, I've taken this joker out numerous times, and it refuses to fail.. I've only had small issues with the pancho. Those are really not showing their age yet, but i'm sure will. Beyond that, this is an amazing emergency device. And I can't see myself carrying anything else until something better is made.. Go get one. Try it out. Tell me what you think.

I've tried your sort of poncho before, but the only poncho I will now use is one with a full-frontal zip. Mine is an Altus Atmospheric, from Spain. When it arrived, its bottom hem ended at my knees, so my wife extended the hem by sewing a 6" wide length of Tyvek to it. It's more or less ideal now. I live in the UK and these days I never wear shorts due to the danger of ticks and Lymes Disease, we are often warned about it. When wearing my Altus I also wear waterproof gaiters, the end result is I am dry from head to feet.

carry a couple of small clothes pins or the little clips used to seal up open bags of chips etc. small, lite weight, reusable. Couple down ea. side a voila done.

Definitely, if you see yourself using it for more than just an emergency shell to look at the Helicon text pancho. It's a little bit bigger, but it's also a lot more tough.

Some rain chaps would be nice so condensation would escape out the tops. Never liked rain pants for that reason.

Instead of trying to sew on loops and toggles and worrying about re waterproofing the area a quick solution might be attaching some with a strong duck tape. The duck tape would probably lose hold eventually but you could just redo it with new tape.

@@DanielThiele it can physically do the task assuming you mean on grass or dirt and not shale or clear cutsfrim a logging opperation.
I personally think the concept of sitting on your shelter is rather poor for long term use.( i dodnt evn like sitting on my usgi poncho or my canvas ww1 repro. If you wsnt a good ground mat thsy acts as a poncho id look at a custom sized gum blanket. Yiu csn find them at C&C sutlery
