The attention to detail in this game is amazing. If you choose option 4, then go back to Lindenvale, you can see the "Witcher" digging in a field. Gz CDPR on one of the best RPG I've played in 30 years of gaming.

Any option that let's the guy walk away wearing the medallion just doesn't feel like something Geralt or any other real witcher would allow. Even option 1 doesn't guarantee that the medallion won't remain in circulation, and burying it in option 4 doesn't guarantee it won't be dug up again. I find it hard to believe that Geralt didn't just demand that he hand it over.
Given that no Wolf School witcher has died in decades, that medallion must have been passed around for a long time.
I think that's Letho's medallion.

Well from what I can recall from my playthroughs of W3 (I know that this is a response to a somewhat old comment but I felt the need to point this out) a possible source of where the that Wolf medallion may have come from is the witcher that the "higher" vampire mentioned killing near the end of the side quest of trying to find Priscilla's attempted murder (I'm still baffled by the amount of people I've encountered on the internet that believed that the mad priest was the real murderer, the guy had no way of jumping over the fence at the mansion mere seconds after the other murder took place). I don't believe the vampire revealed what school that the murdered witcher was from so it's only a theoretical assumption.
As for this quest, I always go with the 1 option. Mainly because of the "throw the medallion into the fire" line, basically insuring as much possible that the medallion will no longer be used to give witchers a bad reputation.
Elian Rodriguez normally Witchers would take the medallion of fallen comrades, such as the one killed by the striga in the last wish. Geralt should’ve taken the medallion, as option 2 is the most Geralt thing to do, as he believes all sentient beings shouldn’t be killed, even someone pretending to be a Witcher.
quest kinda feels like it ends before it begins. I want to know where this merchant got the medallion, if it's real or fake. if it's real there's a 98% chance Geralt knows the guy who's either dead or missing his medallion. could have been an opportunity to meet another witcher, and we get so few of them...
Theirs a story during the game where someone mentions a merchant who was selling witcher medallions. Sorry I can't remember exactly where.
In Novigrad, there is Witcher that retired and became a merchant.

Geralt knows all the witchers from his school. There is Vesemir the Master. The older associates and journeymen were killed during the sacking of Kaer Morhen. The apprentices Eskel and Lambert were his classmates from when Vesemir wanted to rebuild Kaer Morhen. All his other classmates were killed during the trials, some were killed shortly after they got their associates degree. Those who surived were Eskel, Lambert, Geralt and two others who took small contracts to begin with and then went up once they were good enough for bigger contracts. One was killed by the striga of Foltest, the other one I can't remember.
No... Albert wasn't Geralts classmate. Lambert is from the last younglings instructed un Kaer Morhen. Eskel is about same age as Geralt.

One of the most difficult quests in the game. The fight took me ages to complete, must have had at least around 100 deaths.

That Witcher has mastered the wetting him self form of defense. The school of the snail must've had him go through the trial of taxidermy. I hear The famous Geralt of Rivia passed said trial himself.

Cat does take the cake though, yeah, but at least they didn't go after REALLY visible targets (no one cares about Jimmy The Farmer from Bamfak, everyone hears if the KING OF A NATION gets murderized).

Very true, but its nore like they just have a difficult time showing emotions, they would be like robots if they had 0 signs of emotion.
I suspect letting him live means he'll just try the scam again regardless of what he says he'll do. Outside of 4 where he just ends up giving Witchers a bad (badder?) name. At any rate pretty sure Witchers have emotions, ones like Geralt and Lambert have friends and love people they're just indifferent to most people as...well they're idiots or scum I sure ended up disliking the general population of that world too.
I think that whole "Witchers don't have emotions" thing is more like propaganda used to slander them. The "reality" of the situation is probably more complex, running along the lines of: witchers have emotions like any human, but the stress and cruelty of their Trials traumatize them, and even the more optimistic ones tend to have their emotions bashed in by the difficulty of the Path (dangerous monsters, scummy people who refuse to pay or ostracize them, bandits, etc.). If anything, their stoicism is more a coping mechanism for the overall shittiness of their situation, than an actual transformation they go through. Some of them end up very bitter and cynical like Lambert or Berengar, who are clearly emotional, but in a negative, if pragmatic, way.
I've only realised that lately as well, their emotions weren't ripped foem them during the trials, it actually is more like propoganda, but its actually a myth that the witchers didn't create. They sort of adopted it, it makes their job easier, making them seem more professional, or maybe it would strike fear into anyone who would want to discriminate them, but it's somewhat true due to the repressing their emotions due to how shitt the world they live in treats them. You're definitely right about the coping mechanism, the witcher universe is a lot more complex than people would believe.
I picked the 4th option.. I think its the best. Not only does he bury the amulet but he has to stick around to see if he is a baby daddy xD
i love the look geralt gives after the alderman said the fake witcher asked for "something I had but did not yet know about" you can tell hes like oh fuck me since there is nothing he can really do about that since it is how witchers function, and I dont even think Geralt will fight another witcher of that simple aspect of witcher code.

Fought and ended up killing 2 witchers. One during Lamberts quest and another where a school of the cat witcher massacred a village and left only a little girl alive because she reminds him of his sister.

Remember how we killed a bunch of drunks in the start of the game when we didnt have to intervene? He killed the village out of extreme anger for them trying to murder him, we killed a bunch of drunks over something we had no business to step in.
The law of surprise only works if you save someone’s life and they offer any reward in return, and you don’t need to be a witcher for that. The Last Wish book (in real life) explains more about this.
@@hidan407 you kill the drunks at the inn in self defense, they drew their swords first and attacked you after you stopped a woman from potentially killing the hostess because she was afraid to hang a shield with their colors on it. you killed the attackers and moved on
the cat witcher killed the guys in the barn in self defense, then went and killed everyone else in the village, including stabbing unarmed civilians in the back, only sparing a single child because he resembled his sister (he probably would have killed her too, if that were not the case), when you confront him he shows no signs of regret or remorse
its also implied its not the first time he has slaughtered innocents due to his rage

The amount of justifications for each option shows how well-crafted this game is. I picked option 3 just because I can't bring myself to rat out on anyone at all, but reading the comments makes me think option 1 may have some merits...

Cuz there’s nothing to explain really. He’s a selfish fraud who scams people for his own benefits. I’m surprised some people even side with him. I understand why he did it but like being a witcher is a big deal, you can’t just pretend like you’re a witcher and get away with it. Eventually though even if people did let him go he’d eventually die since being a witcher is just plain dangerous to begin with

I chose the last option. Think about it, it only helps the villagers. They get a free worker, and the dude doesn't get exposed, so I'm nice and fair at the same time.

Option 4 is interesting, the sucker has some hard work comming his way. But I'd choose option 1. To find a professional whitcher is troublesome, to pay him even more so. And the dangers they keep in check are free to spread and grow when instead some asshole fakes his profession.
That last option is definitely the best one.
-The dead Wolf Witcher gets some peace beyond the grave by having his medallion buried after fulfilling one final (albeit lousy) contract
-Geralt gets the satisfaction of putting the charlatan in his place and giving him double duties
-The ealdorman gets an unpaid extra laborer for a year, who could help with farming in this desperate time
-The cheat gets to keep his life

false.... you forget one thing... because he is not a witcher and witchers cannot have children... when it is found out that the daughter is in fact pregnant the village will then know that he is not in fact a witcher.. meaning the guy will still end up dead either way.. only hed have to do hard time and still end up dead.

Aye, fourth choice was the best, shame on me for not knowing it before passing judgement. Makes me wanna repeat it all over again... but I'm so done with Velen at this point and that quest was a the beginning.
I wanted to curse this video so much for showing me a better path, but I'm more grateful than livid. That's the thing with Witcher 3, you never get that perfect playthrough first time... for such a linear game, it's quite repeatable, if you can bear the torture that's called White Orchard.

Seth Reckler Funny when I was doing that mission in that corridor with Roche and the others the mission had a bug, and I couldn't kill the archers in every group, still could complete it, very anti climactic though, but when Philippa (How was it? She stabbed him?) definitely made up for it.
And everybody being an asshole everywhere you go definitely annoyed me, I just went to hang out around Skellige, where the people aren't so annoying.
And are all of those details from the books? Because I don't remember most of them.

We have I think 3/4 schools, games aren't canonical. In books there are Griffin, Wolf ofc and Cat, not sure with Bear, but Manticore, Viper never exist.

How come I only got 3 experience points for this Mission but on all four of the options on this video a total of 85 experience points were given did I something wrong?🤷♂️🤷♂️
Probably because you were high level when you completed it. If the quest level is lower than your level it tanks your exp.

I was very over leveled when playing this game because I did just about all of the side missions before the actual storyline. I preferred doing it like that because it spared me the frustration of putting the game down because it got too difficult LOL ( I'm good for that lol I know myself) the way I did it allowed me to enjoy the storyline of the game and not be frustrated from dying all the time 😁🙌 this game is wonderful
@@andresmith3651 I was the same way my first couple of play throughs especially the undiscovered locations so the second half of the game I was getting like 2xp for completing the hardest quests.

As I understand the quantity of xp depends on your level. The higher it is - the less xp you'll get for the same quest.
