best mickey mouse game ever, even at 43 its still enjoyable..this game was ahead of its time..plstforn, costimes, shopping...high replay value..kids these days mightnlike this one
While true, it won't happen; same for Contra, really. So long as publishers/developers like Capcom and Konami think they can make a quick dollar off of digital ports/re-releases, they won't let their greatest games of the era be made available for free on the Switch Online collection or similar programs. This game in particular is especially true, because Capcom doesn't have the rights to Mickey Mouse in games anymore to authorize it; you would need both Capcom and Disney to individually sign off on the re-release, if I recall correctly. A similar case exists for a fighting game by Capcom, "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Heritage for the Future"; it was made available digitally on PS3 only once, before Capcom lost the rights and had the game taken off of the PS Store's listings.
I agree. The stuff that they put on there is decent but there's a lot of crap that nobody is ever going to play. Some of the stuff is just too dated and I can honestly say a lot of those games I never even heard of. I would actually love some kind of a virtual console where you could rebuy buy some of these classics and it could carry over to every system. People would pay good money to be able to have some of these classic games saved in some kind of a cloud library. And when you sign into your account on the switch to or three, all of the stuff that you have purchased can be redownloaded. But of course we know Nintendo wants all the money
This game was remade for the Game Boy Advance in 2002 with the name Disney's Magical Quest Starring Mickey and Minnie. It was developed by Capcom and published by Nintendo. In the GBA version Minnie Mouse was added to the game as a playable character, though she is identical in gameplay to Mickey. Additionally, four minigames for both Single-player and multiplayer were added to the remake. The multiplayer mini-games were played with the GBA link cable and only one cartridge was needed to play with a friend. Notably, the GBA port also introduced a save feature and could connect to Disney's Magical Mirror Starring Mickey Mouse via the GameCube-Game Boy Advance link cable.
I used to play this game with my younger cousin. She was obsessed with Mickey as a kid and annoyed me to death with it. Now I would do anything to play this game with her again. F*ck cancer. But your video brought a nostalgic smile to my face. Thanks!
Did she die from cancer? I'm sorry to hear that. I hope she enjoyed this game and this game had brought her big happiness! I'm from Taiwan. I did enjoy this game with my brother, too. Although we didn't understand English then, we were still enjoying the happiness it brought us
I'm currently playing through it for the first time. I'm in the last world right now. Really nice game, a bit short, but beautifully designed with cool levels. What I found best so far was the forest: the music is a real catchy tune. Edit: I just saw that there are two sequels, which was completely new to me. Have you played them too, and if so, can they keep up with the quality?
Definitely the greatest Capcom platform ever made. I remember back in my day 90s i used to play this game beside Yoshi Island and Mario World when i was toddler got home from daycare school in my day of 1997.
My Dad rented me this cartridge, I think twice. That was over 25 years ago. Back then you could rent games from kiosks. Places like that. I made it to the last part of the game, but I did not find the final boss. I only found those mini-bosses. Then I forgot this game and grew up. Years later I finished this baby with an emulator. RIP Dad and thanks for the memories!
Don't know about the rest of you but there's many things that are familiar about how this game is played and something VERY familiar about Pete's character design.
I remember being so amazed on the tree sap level. I thought that was so cool. Looking back, it’s still a really creative idea for the time. This guy played this game in ways I never could have imagined as a kid.
My first ever Super Nintendo game!.. Only took me like 6 months to beat it... Didn't really understand English at the time so I didn't know I could lower the difficulty. Nowadays I can practically beat it blindfolded on hard mode. It remains my favorite game to speedrun.
the same happened to me I'm german and I was so surprised when he went into the settings and changed the difficulty.. mine was always on hard and had no save states so I had to keep the console on over night for several days (secretly because my parents never allowed us to keep it on) until I finally beat in ONCE and never again.. I remember I tried multiple times after but I just couldn't pull it off
I had this game when I was a kid (still have it, in some box in my mom's house). Good game, good graphics, fantastic music. but I could never get past the mountain climber level boss.
Oh, yes, this is my favorite Mickey Mouse game. I have a cartridge copy. You thought Pete was mean in Mickey Mania or specifically, Kingdom Hearts? No, THIS game had the meanest Pete ever! (1:25:20)
I Played this game SO many times and somehow forgot about it. Was just watching Chase the Right Price's new video and he was going through boxed games and I saw it. Core memory unlocked absolutely crazy I forgot about this game. 😂
I used to play this at a friend's house. The music is amazing and helps make the game so memorable. I still associate the Capcom jingle with this game (as well as Mega Man 7).
Great game, i played it on original hardware many hours back in the days. Pretty hard jump'n run. People today will never understand what really hard games used to be in the 90's.
@@xRavenXP That was a wonderful response. I remember having a video store, actually two different ones but they were family owned. I knew them well. Sadly my Mom passed away in 1994 and my times of renting movies and games ended. But while I took care of my Mom for 7-8 years, the last three she was bedridden, we had a ritual of renting between 5-10 movies and having a movie party. She'd also watch me play my Genesis too. Here's a incredible side story. I had a first Gen Nintendo Gameboy game system. I had some great games, but I got hooked on Tetris. My Mom saw me playing my Gameboy and asked if she could try it? Sure? She played Tetris, and played Tetris, and played, and played, and played! She'd yell at the pieces, I DIDN'T NEED THAT ONE! I'd just smile. Then about 2 months and a BUTT-LOAD of batteries later, she destroyed my high-score! She literally kicked my butt! It was AWESOME! TRULY AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE! My Mom who only tried my Atari 2600 once, became a seriously good Tetris player, and I was so proud of her! I even loved her smugness as she mocked me for losing. I had some incredible memories that I'll cherish forever! Thank you for reminding of that time.
Sadly I didn't have this game. I did have the Sega Genesis Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse however and I loved it. This is one I hope to find for my Retro collection.
i’m 20 now. when i was little i would go over to my dads, i had a mattress on the floor a tv and nintendo hookup. i would make my toast with strawberry jam and butter then play the heck out of this game.
there is a store where you can buy items, the blocks he destroys in front of the door drop coins so going in and out he can farm coins to be able to buy hearts at the shop which is important because this game just deletes your save file if you loose all your lives
Well lucky you! I got stuck trying to beat the spider... of course because my game is old the darn spider was invisible! Maybe it died off along time ago sitting on my shelf and it's ghost is still doing it's job... it triumphed. I gave up. 😂🤣
The place at the very beginning when you keep going back to it, I remember there being something there but I can't remember what it was. Is it an RNG kinda thing?
il remember this game was one of the easiest back in the childhood few hours and it was over.. Now i understand why because 6 levels in the game? haha insane. Nostalgia is always awsome.
best mickey mouse game ever, even at 43 its still enjoyable..this game was ahead of its time..plstforn, costimes, shopping...high replay value..kids these days mightnlike this one
Played this game around 2004, can confirm that any kid would love this game if they were given the chance to play it.
The best one in my opinion is World of Illusion - Starring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck for Sega Genesis.
I agree... Mickley and Donald is better.... defo had that Disney feel , and the graphics on Mickley and Donald plus the animation was spot on
These are the games Nintendo needs to get for Switch online.

the sequels we're portable only on gba tho. so those are worth looking at. I remember playing 3 as Donald.

Man, i used to play this so often.. i miss those carefree days
So do I 💓
I know what you mean, and same here :)
Holy crap, memory unlocked. I never did get to finish this game, yet I spent many hours playing it as a lad.
This game never gets the look like SMW or Donkey Kong, one of the most underrated games of my childhood. I wish with a little bit more content.
Definitely the greatest Capcom platform ever made.

gosh, I played this millions of hr of pure fun and didnt remember it at all, fortunately this video helped with that!! thank you sir!!

they never played the good old classic games!
Thanks for posting love the nostalgia! I could have done without so many trips through the general store though
I absolutely love the music in Stahe 5. never heard another arrangement outside the game itself.
Such a well-designed game that really unlocked the childhood imagination!
The best game with Mickey forever !
So nostalgic that capcom entry :’)
Always loved the graphics for this game🔥🔥🔥
