UPDATE: I've been using the Speedpole branded product for a year now and have some comments to share. The billeted aluminum poles look really nice, but they have design flaws. Here are the issues I found: 1. The threads on each pole cap that connect the poles together are too short. In other words... there's not enough threads to stabilize the top and bottom poles. This allows the top pole to move even when tightened with all the force I had applied. I believe by adding another inch of threads would completely solve the issue as well as making the flag poles much stronger. 2. The small black rotating inserts that fit between the upper and lower poles and connect into the flag eyelets are too tight to turn freely once I tighten the poles together. This does not work as advertised. 3. Customer Service could be better. Summary - Speedpole is on the right track to make a quality product, but they have to keep improving and correcting the issues that their customers (me) are pointing out. With tax, I paid roughly $230 for my flag pole and expect a QUALITY product... nothing less. Lastly... don't send Speedpole a message on their website Contact page - they don't respond back. Maybe I should've called instead. But, why have a contact page on the website if they not gonna monitor it??? I've decided to pull out Speedpole's flag pole that I purchased and make a CNC machined flag pole that will fit into my B&W Gooseneck receiver. It will be super strong, reliable, convenient... and most importantly - I won't have to keep looking into my rearview mirror wondering if the top half of my Speedpole has finally broken off and gone. I just bought 4 u-bolts and a 10 foot 3/4 inch steel pipe and made my own kit, I guarantee it will last longer than that kit and it only cost $20 all together
KM16SR12 you me and a few others were thinking the same thing that guy should either tape up his bit to the right depth or send a bit with some kind of adjustable depth bit in the kit because if that scratch the cab you gonna have a good starting point for rust hell maybe even put some sylicone on the drilled holes.
200$ lol I got a piece of scrap pole and 4$ u clamps from Home Depot and screwed them into my headache rack and it's been fine for years sorry but it's gonna be hard to sell this to me lol.
I just did a couple pvc pipes on the sides in the back where they got put on the black truck and found a couple steel poles at my uncles auto shop and cut them to size and I use zip ties to hold the flags on the poles. Overall probably spent $40-$50 because the first flags I got came with a wood pole but if I would've known about the steel poles before hand I would've only spent about $3 for the 10 foot pvc pipe with about 6-8 feet left over, and the money for all the flags.
I'm going to stick with fanpole. Good looking, detailed(I take it to car shows and since it's black it looks awesome on my white truck), durable(personally tested going 70 to 80 for a whole day and no sign of damage while flying 4x6 flag), now you can run up to 3 flags as of a few days ago, you can fly any size flag you want, just a pull of a pin you can take the pole off, made in America, and the biggest thing is no drilling involved. Though flagtruck has a 4 flag setup. Plus it's the only flag mount you can customize, and they're powder coated. Though I am ify about conduct poles as flag poles.
I like it. Probably has already been mentioned, touch up the drilled holes with primer and paint ( unless you like rust ), and use some type of spacer on the drill bit so you only go through the bed and not hit the cab......a wood dowel cut to the proper length would work. Thanks for sharing, peace out.
Well at least the cab will have rust holes to match the bed. Anytime you drill metal you have to primer and paint the metal, or it will rust over time.
