For all of the players included because "They're too old," I have to imagine at least half of those names were not included to start, but to be experienced teammates that can help guide the team in training and maybe come on to provide some class at the end of matches.

I understand why you chose shaw for England but as a Man United fan, let me tell you, he has had an injury riddled career but he always came back in top form. Don’t disrespect him, considering we have already seen how he plays post injury. He is a gamble and yes Rooney did flop in a similar situation but this man’s whole career is coming back from injury and still retaining the starting position under several managers

Pedro is a more conventional winger, while Pote is more of a player in the line of Felix. I would actually put Pote ahead of Felix, I know its controversial but Felix is usually mediocre for the NT

Perišić is pretty decent, injury was a main reason he was not playing at Hajduk at all, we also rely a lot on morale and Perišić has it, he still has a goal in him, maybe even the most important goal we need, who knows? Although you know what, I will let you doubt us, we prefer it that way.

I’m sorry Irish Guy I love you but the Fagioli take is egregious. As someone who watches every Juve game, although picking him was very ballsy from Spaletti, he’s in the squad for a reason. Fagioli is the most gifted midfielder Juventus has produced since Claudio Marchisio, and although, yes, he has been banned for 7 months, he has been training every day with the team and in his recent appearances for club and country he has looked electric. Locatelli, conversely has had a puzzlingly poor season and maybe would’ve benefitted from not playing for 7 months to spare some of his performances of recent.

I know our defence is troubled, but bringing a 33-year-old wonky bad luck centre back who plays for Lech Poznań, a team that did way below expectations, and who spent the first half of the season suspended for alleged doping (!) is reprehensible

Fagioli's incluson has a prestigious precedent. 1982 WC top scorer Paolo Rossi (who would win the Ballon d'Or for leading Italy to victory) had just come out from a *two year ban* because he was involved in the biggest match fixing scandal of his time (search Totonero 1980, it was *the* Serie A scandal before Calciopoli). Nowadays, seeing a player getting called up after being forced not to play for *two years* wold feel mad.
Hopefully, Fagioli can prove himself good. Maybe he won't be the Paolo Rossi of this Italy team, but he can still do wonders

That Jota shout is absolutely horrific. He’s been a prolific goalscorer for both Liverpool and Portugal and is one of the best finishers in the Premier League. While he has had injury problems, he’s been absolutely fit for weeks and would be a brilliant addition to Portugal. Hell, he’s scored 2 goals in the last 2 Portugal games. He’s a very good option.
I think the main point is why take 2 players who were injured for most of the 2nd half of the season, while you leave out someone who’s been consistently good throughout (with the added benefit of being able to play 4 different positions).
But I do think Jota deserves the call, he’s still our 2nd best finisher.
The problem with Portugal is this, If your agent is not Jorge Mendes then your chances of being called up to the national team are less than 1% we have a joke that "its not the coach/manager that selects the players its Jorge Mendes"

The Portugal national team is controlled by the player's agent, not the manager, they won't choose Pedro Gonçalves because he doesn't have the same agent as others that has connections with the national team
Bro Pavlovic is way more deserving than goretzka. He’s been fantastic this season, played well against Real Madrid in a ucl final, meanwhile goretzka has been out of form for quite long and has never been good for the German national team

for Italy, Fagioli isn't such a weird pick when you look at the alternatives. Locatelli has been dreadful this year and doesn't deserve a call up either. the other options are Rovella and Ricci which aren't amazing either. the actual WORST squad pick is Michael Folorunsho over Riccardo Orsolini, Orsolini has double the G/A, plays for a much better team and is way more experienced, both are attacking midfielders.
