@@amidlej8237 Yeah, the subs were added as annotations rather than captions, so they dissapeared when UA-cam stopped supporting those. I used a Chrome extension that restored the old annotations from within the source code, but I think that doesn't work anymore either.
Wonder why the game didn't show these disputes between Layton and Nick. I mean, in the trailer they seem to be doubting each other. But in the game, they're like the perfect tag team with perfect sync..
I think they did that because they didn't want to favor one over the other. If they oppose each other then one will have to win and one will have to lose. However that being said they still could have done it if they made the win and loss ratio very balanced.
Looking back, this was a very interesting early concept. However, it's hard for me to imagine Phoenix and the Professor being so antagonistic towards each other. Not even just after seeing the final product of the crossover, but with the characters' personalities in general. Layton especially, given how very few things will truly piss him off to the point he's visibly agitated, and while Phoenix is less "collected" in temperament, you'd have to provoke him in order for him to retaliate, and I have a very hard time believing Professor Layton of all people would manage this no different than the more trying individuals Phoenix has had to deal with in his franchise. Not to mention the fact their characters have very similar ideals when it comes to finding the truth; Layton seeks it to uncover mysteries which often entail helping others and saving lives, and Phoenix lives by it in his career as an attorney to serve justice in court and see the true culprits put away for their crimes (in some cases, also save lives). It just makes far more sense that they'd get along. Just what on earth could've put them at such odds here?! Yes, they're both on opposing sides on the matter of whether or not Espella is a witch, but it's just so uncanny seeing Layton so harsh…it feels more deep-rooted than that. We may never know…
My theory is that in the story of the beta version, both of them would have met Espella in different ways that would make them conflicted and against each other.
Note; this game despite the title and trailer, is actually gonna having them work together. Although, if Phoenix and Layton were gonna battle it out, Phoenix is who my money would go on. Why? Because for God's sake, we're talking about a lawyer who called a PARROT, ORCA AND ROBOT TO THE STAND, AND STILL MANAGED TO TURN THE CASES AROUND USING THEIR TESTIMONIES. HE TURNS HOPELESS CASES AROUND AND WINS THEM. Client's prints on the weapon? NO MATTER. Client CONFESSES? NO MATTER. Client JUST DECLARED GUILTY IN COURT?! NO MATTER. Nothing stops this guy. LITERALLY NOTHING. He was disbarred from being a lawyer, yet still continued investigating the case he was on for SEVEN FREAKING YEARS. That's dedication. Plus he's lucky. SUPER lucky. Even if he had no hope, you can guarantee he'll find some way to win. He ALWAYS does. He IS called Phoenix after all. Plus he's a super nice guy. "CAN'T PAY ME FOR DEFENDING YOU? NO MATTER. IT WAS WORTH IT JUST TO HELP YOU. " And I'm not even one of those people who only plays one series then routes for that one character. I've played both, and genuinely thing that, weighing it out, Phoenix would JUST win, if they had to make a winner. If anything I think it'd be a draw, but assuming one of them HAS to win, Phoenix just seems to have more luck, determination and fighting "omph" on his shoulders.
Remember how we are shocked as to how Phoenix only got a cold from falling down 40+ feet into a river with strong current that is well known for washing people away, never to be seen again? And how about when you agree with Apollo saying "As always, it is hard to say whether he is lucky or unlucky" when Phoenix actually flew 30+ feet due to being knocked by a car, and only stopped because his head hit a telephone pole, and walked away with only a leg sprain? This guy can already be claimed as the God of luck already, the totally opposite of Maggey Byrde, the Goddess of misfortune.

Professor Layton VS Ace Attorney is not even released in Japan yet, but it will probably be released there soon. As far as I know it's not even sure if it ever will be released outside Japan. The fifth Professor Layton game (Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask) will come out in November in America (October in Europe). But both games are only for the 3DS. BTW there is also a second Layton movie, witch will most likely come out this winter in Japan.
I have known about this for a good long while thanks to my 'Nintendo Informant'. Wish I could obtain a copy...I have been waiting for this my whole life !
Any idea what's the ost track for the song that starts at 2:13? Or is there even such a track (that's been extracted) It sounds wonderful and cirque-ish
Currently it's not even out in Japan yet, but it will probably released there soon. However, it is not sure yet if it will ever come out outside Japan.
Well this came out in Japan on the 29th of November last year and still no announcement has been made for an overseas release. We should all be worried.
Ace Attorney is the name of the game series. Some of the Ace Attorney games don't feature Phoenix Wright as a main character (Apollo Justice, Investigations), so if someone is saying "Phoenix Wright", they mean games which have him as the main character. Ace Attorney, however, refers to all of the games.
I remember watching this the first time and thinking it was a movie and i was so excited. Then i realised it was for the 3DS and i don't think i'll ever get one. cries.
Both Ace Attorney and Professor Layton are games, and this is simply a crossover game. It combines the puzzle making feel of Layton with the Kickass Defending that Phoenix is famous for.
@TheBlueUmbreon What I know is that he is NOT the prosecutor, the prosecuter is a knight called Jeeken Barnrod. Professor Layton loves to solve puzzles and mysteries, so the reason for him to be there is that he wants to solve the mystery of the story teller.
It's a game and it is indeed real. But since this trailer is two years old not even one single scene in this trailer is also in the actual game. But there are two long new trailers, one from the Tokyo Game Show 2012 and one Launch Trailer. The game came out in Japan yesterday, but it's not sure yet if it will ever come out outside Japan. The blonde girl is Mahoney Katalucia, the defendant in the witch trails.
ua-cam.com/video/0BUwOIuSEIU/v-deo.html It's a demo song, so I don't think it's officially released. There's a song that someone made an arrangement for.
McEpicDangerFace is right, Ace Attorney is set in the near future (2016-2018) while in Professor Layton there is no London Eye so the Layton games have to be set before 1998. Because of that the crossover is set in a differned universe and is not linked to the actual Ace Attorney series or the actual Professor Layton series in any way.
It's incredible to see how none of the scenes shown in this trailer appear in the actual game!

Whoever thought of this idea is amazing, two epic games combined into one! it's a pity it isn't being released in the uk
This is litterally the most epic trailer I have ever seen. EVER.
"As of TGS 2011 it has been tentatively confirmed for an overseas release."
from court records website
Any idea what's the ost track for the song that starts at 2:13? Or is there even such a track (that's been extracted) It sounds wonderful and cirque-ish
In Japan it is supposed to be released in 2012, not sure about North America, but yes, it IS going to be localized.
1:46 is it just me or does the Evil Storyteller look more like a Layton character here?
Currently it's not even out in Japan yet, but it will probably released there soon. However, it is not sure yet if it will ever come out outside Japan.
It's on Nintendo official UA-cam channel and featured in the most recent Nintendo Direct.
I like the fact that they made it like an anime. Might as well make a full length movie, i'd watch that
Well this came out in Japan on the 29th of November last year and still no announcement has been made for an overseas release.
We should all be worried.
As soon as I saw this, I liked teared. I'm crying man. Oh my gosh.
It's not even out in Japan yet and currently it's not even sure if it will ever be released outside Japan.
Captions? What captions?
...
Is UA-cam being stupid again? I turned on captions AND annotations and it still didn't work...
If only this was the game we got,
Ace Attorney is the name of the game series. Some of the Ace Attorney games don't feature Phoenix Wright as a main character (Apollo Justice, Investigations), so if someone is saying "Phoenix Wright", they mean games which have him as the main character. Ace Attorney, however, refers to all of the games.
The release has been announced in Japan! November 29th!
This... is going to be the most awesome crossover ever.
What's the name of the song that starts at 2:12?
I didn't see any subtitles in this video.
I beat in 3 days, the playtime by game's end was about 24 hours. It was like a page turner of a book that I couldn't put down.
This might have been already said, but this is LEVEL 5 we are talking about they love their western fandom as much as the fandom in their home country
@VenusCrescentBeam Where did you find screenshots of Maya and Phoenix on a plane to Labyrinth City?
The things and people, Phoenix is willing to defend. That man will do anything....
It can be, in the Mask of Miracle trailer there are also some scenes which aren't in the actual game.
Does anyone know what musci they used for the part of the trailer where estella is watching the town burn: at the very end...
ua-cam.com/video/0BUwOIuSEIU/v-deo.html
It's a demo song, so I don't think it's officially released. There's a song that someone made an arrangement for.
UA-cam is telling me that the video is unavailable. PLEASE BE MY OWN TECH PROBLEMS
TGS is in a few days, people! PLvsAA is gonna be showed on Sunday!
I can't stand waiting for it's release anymore! I NEED to play it.
Gather evidence through Layton's puzzles, then present the case through Phoenix....this could work
i totally got an ad for this game on this video
