@WellnessMessiah I hope you can answer this specific question about Resveratrol that I'm trying to incorporate into my regime. I know I should not take Resveratrol after the exercise because it will neglect the positive oxidising effects of exercise, and I also know the anti-oxidising effects of Resveratrol last only 9 hours. My question is, how long the beneficial oxidising effects of exercise last in my body after making exercise? So i know how much time AFTER i make exercise is safe to take resveratrol without neglecting the beneficial oxidising effects of exercise?
I want to buy it ,how can I get them?
Dr. Bruce Ames (of the famous "ames test") discovered ALA's longevity-boosting properties in 1995. And he found ALA worked better when taken with Acetyl-L-Carnitine. The combined supplementation of ALCAR and LA (ALCAR+LA) reverses age-related metabolic decline, improves hepatocellular ascorbate levels, and lowers oxidant appearance and oxidative damage. Dr. Ames also eats the Mediterranean diet and is still active and working at 94 years old.
Yes :) I mentioned ALCAR in the 7 supplements video alongside ALA
LA recycles C and E iirc.
❗️👍 Thanks for the elaborate information you are presenting!
Rimon, So many supplements, how to know if they counteract each other? I am taking GlyNAC, Resveratrol, Omega 3, Niacin, Taurine, Creatine. Now ALA sounds great also. But do any of these mess with each other? IYO
You're one of the best channels when it comes to health and longevity information.
Thank you Jacob, please to read your comment
I used to think that Sinclair was the only obstacle to folks getting longevity supplements. He may well be the biggest obstacle, but he's joined by Rimon. If you aren't aware of the shenanigans, they can seem like nice people trying to help you.
As of now David Sinclair hasn't taken anything from you. He has instead helped boost peoples awareness of NMN which helped the market for NMN grow. I would not have found any of the longevity supplements if it wasn't for Sinclair's book "Lifespan".
People like yourself are too bored and need to stir up drama for entertainment.@@soylentmajority989
What good quality ALA do you take for $5 a month?
Thanks for the video, I'm taking R ALA work perfect for neuropathy bat I'm having hair loss any edvise please
I saw video that stated that Lipoid Acid comes in natural and synthetic forms. The video 9don’t remember name) said that the synthetic form was a waste of money. Please comment.
ALA increases the activity of NAMPT, the rate limiting enzyme in the salvage cycle producing NAD+, among other valuable stuff in the TCA cycle and the metabolism of fatty acids....
about the cost: the cheapest I found is about 11€ per month for R-ALA, as capsules, in powder form for RS-ALA indeed around 6€, but currently not available
So according to the nerve Dr channel, R LAL is the natural form , the other two forms or any combo of the 3 forms , for example the RS form is a combo of the natural form R and the S is synthetic and the synthetic does not absorb well and the synthetic form cancels out the natural ones. Also it was stated that a clean form of R LAL will cost about 50 bucks a bottle / month. I live in Canada and that is what I payed at our health food store. Maybe cheaper elsewhere or other Countries. I am treating neuropathy
Thank you, Sir, for another most informative video. Does alpha lipoic acid blunt the benefits of exercise. Should it be avoided on days of weight training? Thank you.
Good question.
Half life is about 4 hours. Don’t exercise in that ~4 hour window.
Generally speaking no. But in times of focused muscle growth, it is better to take time off - but it will cost you some longevity (I have done it myself, had a spurt of white hair). Regular exercise for health - not a problem.
Thank you, Sir.@@WellnessMessiah
I had heard about this supplement before from Dr. Andrew Weil. However, when I did a quick UA-cam search, Dr. Brad Stanfield put out a video about 6 months ago that said he would not recommend for anyone other than diabetics. Could you consider doing a response to that video as you have in the past? I never know whether to trust the content from Dr. Stanfield ever since he started bashing Dr. Sinclair. Thanks for all the work you put into your videos. I have gotten a lot of valuable information from your content!
yep, better to forget him. Little Brad boy has an ego problem, and is talking b.s. all over. Nothing holds upon close analysis. In his famous NMN "study", he cited those 8 supporting his argument, while silencing the other 23 studies... he is not a scientist with a track record, he is a little dude on the internet. Sinclair has a long history of publications from his lab in the worlds top 2 scientific journals... over and over again.
@@monnoo8221 well said. Brad is an MD and an young inexperienced one at that.
I actually worked with a diabetic client and saw the opposite results. I'm not a medical doctor- worth mentioning. In my channel, I don't deal with sick people so I wouldn't touch diabetes on purpose.
Stanfield also peddles statins and says dietary cholesterol is bad. He’s good at reading abstracts of studies he cherry picked. He also looks way older than he is, which tells me whatever he’s doing isn’t working, while Sinclair looks 20 years younger

Hi, I have just started taking R-ALA 600 mg on empty stomach and 1000 MG glycine. Post lunch, am taking NAC.
Please suggest if these doses are good enough or I should cut. And should I take glycine and R-ALA together or put some gap between them.
Am 34 year old male suffering from chronic sciatic nerve pain from3 years.
Also, I have started giving 300mg / half tablet of R-ALA to my mother along with glycine 1000mg. Haven't started giving her NAC yet.
She also suffering from peripheral neuropathy and has extreme inflammation and tingling in left foot.
I don't want to give her wrong doses as it effects longevity. Not sure what dose will be good and what not.
3rd. My dad is heart patient and already on blood thinner. Should I be giving him any of these supplements that can help him to be healthier? If yes, which ones and what dose?
Thanks in advance!!
There is also Sodium R-lipoate which is apparently an improved version of R-alpha lipoic acid
Any reputable vendor?
ALA (not the fat but Alpha Lipoc Acid) is delicate - and a stabilized version (that is not cheap) is required, ideally time-released and liposomal. Maybe an injectable form will be more helpful.
OK, I have to admit that Ramon was right about the price.
I found it for a little over $6 for a month with 300 mg daily of powder.
Capsules are of course much more expensive!
How does it react in your stomach? He recommended Pill form, I believe.
You need a stabilized version ideally - the cheap version may not work too well. Liposomal delivery and time-released capsules may be useful.
ALA?
So I'm taking this thing called R-alpha lipoic acid. Is there anything I need to change?
Thanks for your videos!👍
It's the best form of ALA because it's its natural and more effective form
Sodium stabilized R Lipoic Acid is supposed to be the bomb.
Thanks for the confirmation, @@_F_C_👍
No, it's awesome. But I take twice a day...it's only active for a few hours
@@WellnessMessiah, is it better before a workout or after?
Empty stomach either way 👍
I want to take them and where can i buy it?
Could it bind minerals that are then excreted and are no longer available to the body? Like zinc or copper, for example ...
has nothing to do with that.
yes, but it is only trace amounts, but over time you will reduce your heavy metals load
Low doses are especially non problematic. But multiple high doses will have an impact. Dose dependent.
mixed science on that. It is a chelator but rather weak. The greatest benefit is GSH boosting - will remove heavy metals for sure!
@@WellnessMessiah I also take ALA with S-Acetyl-Glutathion so that they can protect each other.
Will taking flax seed oil have the same effect as taking ala capsules?
It has ALA and is a good source of it. I put flax seed into my yogurt. flax seed also good fiber source.
you confuse it with alpha linolenic acid, which is an omega 3 fatty acid, and also abbreviated as ALA.
Yet chemically alpha-lipoic acid is drastically different, its thioctic acid, is an organosulfur compound derived, and from its structure and its biology I would conclude that it is NOT present in flax seed oil.
@@patrickmcguinness1363 you confuse it with alpha linolenic acid as well
@@Nine_Bun_Bun yep, you may be right, but alpha lipoic acid is sth very different, and someguycaled... got it wrong, so you answer to an irrelevant comment, or you confuse it yourself with alpha linolenic acid
I've heard that ALA has shown to reduce lifespan in certain animal studies. Any thoughts? Not something i've dug into extensively.
Big difference in r-ala and rs-ala
Animals are not the same, Alpha lipoid acid is poison for cats
I read onebad study study and it was flawed from my memory. Anyhow, most likely - check me on that - they used very high doses - not good. The dose is a keyhere
@@WellnessMessiah Ah i see. I might consider taking ALA again then.
I find it hard to get R-alpha lipoic acid in Sweden.
They mostly sell only alpha lipoic acid, and that's not what I want.
And they are rude enough to show their ALA products when I'm searching fir R-ALA.
It would be nice to find it at anywhere near the price Ramon say.
So, I think his price really is ridiculous!
Hi can't you just buy from iherb?
Did you experience hairloss, i took ala with biotin still it caused hairfall
Yes i also caused hair loss with ala
Have you looked at carnivore diet for longevity as it has so many benefits for body, brain, cures for so many deasease such as diabetes & inflamation deseases?? cancer etc
Is the S-form effective as a chelator even if it isn't "biologically" active? That is, in a mixed formulation, would the S-isomers chelate leaving the R-isomers to preform cellular functions?
Hi Linda, it mainly interferes with the NRF-2 activation. For blood sugar - not big issue at al
If you don't know what Sinclair has been up to with longevity supplements, it's easy to think well of him.
Would you shed some light?
Did he mention the dosage he takes?
Exactly no mention of which type he takes exactly himself and dosage
300mg once or twice per day on empty stomach
@@casper98204 thanks!
David S is a frail old man! Show me him, in peak fitness looking younger than he is, not pushing drugs he has patents on, and earns millions !
Makes my pee smell really bad
IT DOES NOT CHELATE HEAVY METALS ! it only mobilizes them, but is not a safe chelator !
Big mistake to reference David Sinclair, he is not scientist. Bye
