In the majority of cases, setting premiere's frame interpolation to Optical Flow would work just fine.
Great stuff!! Thanks a lot!
Thanks for this insight Aidin! This was really helpful and I plan on using this in my videos on my channel! Thanks for sharing your expertise with this community!
Glad to hear it, thanks dude!
I checked out your channel, your videos are pretty cool, keep producing content man. Aidin has some great resources to help you inprove your videos, he's the man!
Aidin Robbins 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Dude! I used to start my videos on PP for slow motion and stuff and I would like to use Af cos its advance and leaves me unlimited. now I just watched this video and realise there is much easier way to create slow motion in AF... salute man and keep up the good work.
Thanks Aidin, this is real informative about how framerates work together, and how Premiere and After Effects use framerates. You have explained what it takes a lot of searching to find. My favorite effect in After Effects is rotoscoping because it makes masking so much easier. I look forward to trying this method for speed ramping as it seems to make more sense.
Dude it's insane how much your videos have got better in a year. I thought they were amazing before, but now!? 🤯
I just made a video where I had to mess around with time wrap and interpreted my 60fps footage into 24fps. A lot of things were confusing but I got the hang of it at the end. Working on another video now and doing it and this video definitely made things a lot more clear. Thank you! What a coincidence you dropped this when I needed it haha. Also I’m really diving into learning more complicated editing, what are some of your favorite creators who learned a lot from that you’d suggest others to watch as well for learning?
Great vid! Thanx
This is very helpful, TYVM
The SFX starting at 2:02 is a bit annoying. I'd suggest lowering it down. Aside from that, great video!
Appreciate hearing your feedback 👊
Great video and explanation. You gained a subscriber!
I swear I haven't even watched yet and i liked and added to my favorites. That's how much i love his videos. 😂👊🏽
Appreciate the support!
I really liked Red Giant Magic Bullet for grading but after adobe updated lumetri its my fav grading plugin now
Super Great Video. I am certainly trying this now since I’m busy editing my Travel to Germany video
Hell yeah! Glad you learned something 👊
Dope thanks!👊😎
Not trying to be a downer but can’t u do the same with twixtor/time remap or even just frame blending then velo?
Very nice tutorial! Always wondered where the frame skips come from. My favourite effect in After Effects is probably the good old Motion Tracking (3D and 2D).
Timeless 👌 glad you learned something dude!
FCPX users, after changing your clip’s speed change the video quality to optical flow. Similar effect.
Fav effect: RSMB is the key to heaven. Especially on hyperlapses.
Hellllll yeah. Couldn't do anything without RSMB
Your sound design tutorial playlist and other tutorials helped me a lot in my projects... keep up Aidin! Waiting for another vids!
Glad to hear it man! Appreciate the support!
I’m supporting you since 2018😛👌 Your 2018 and 2019 vids are motivated me a lot to do back the video shooting😊
Favorite effect would have to be the warp stabilizer in premiere and rotoscoping in after effects. Also the colour wheel...lol theres soooo much to learn in these programs and I'm actually happy that I don't know everything yet cause I love the process of learning and trying it out. Great Vid!
Hell yeah, that's the spirit haha. After Effects is SUCH a dense program lol
Man, this is soooo USEFUL!!! Thanks :D
Good morning dude. Nice video!
Is Optical flow on premiere does the same job as Timewarp? I mean except the other parameters which time warp has. They function same?
yeah! pretty the same I think
Had the same thought!
Yash Pamnani I wondered that too
If they do that would be a much better workflow than constantly jumping between premiere and after effects
Optical flow is the same as time warp. It pretty much does the same thing but after effect’s version is a little bit more polished with additional bells and whistles like motion blur since it’s is a dedicated visual effects software.
Thanks man! Good luck!
I use optical flow for most of my videos but most of the time, I can see some weird artifacts when I export. Think I might try this method, thanks Aidin!
Very useful, didn't know that!
Awesome thanks
Thanks u so much bro
Awesome video!! Have you tried Optical Flow in Premiere Pro? Does this work a lot better than that?
U explain it so clearly. Thanks.
Nice video bro I’m going a be using this soon!
Dope! Glad you learned something!
Nice ! Thx
Another great video and always loving your brutal honesty ha!
Haha glad you enjoyed!
Glad to hear I'm not the only one who hates the process of speed ramping inside premiere pro lol. Amazing tutorial as always man!
Thanks dude! I think everyone hates it lol
I don't get it I consider myself not that well versed with premiere considering i was originally a primary mac user and cut my teeth editing in FINAL CUT PRO 7. i Tried final cut x for a few years and got okay with adobe motion but honestly unless I've missed some drastic changes in how easy speed ramping is on final cut. I find speed ramping in Adobe Premiere easier and often times a more precise option. I'm curious to here why everyone doesn't like it.
I was thinking the same thing about optical flow on premiere doing the same thing but I’m not sure if op flow adds motion blur too and once you mentioned the speed ramping possibilities then it may be that time warp has some added benefits over op flow. Not had enough playtime with either yet to see differences but will try it for my next video as had planned some speed ramping and may be quicker than the usual speed ramp method (even though that doesn’t take too long in itself). If it takes too long as something new to try I may stick with what I’m used to but will give it a try anyway to see!
this is very helpful. but my computer can barely run AE what kind of computer do you have to be able to run premiere and AE simultaneously on large projects?
Thank you. (and thanks be to the algorithm for suggesting your video!)
How does frame blending or optical flow in premiere compare to this?
Hi, Aidin. I love your videos. Can I ask what font did you used for this video's thumbnail? Thanks! 🤙
helpful tutorial
Hey did you ever get the dji mavic 2 pro to ever work again?
The curve tool :p
The right curves gives such a different character to footage !
Also, please correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it possible to achieve a similar effect when selecting 'Optical Flow' for Time interpolation in Premiere, when you change clip speed?
And last question, what's the difference between interpreting the footage and actually changing the speed if you put the correct percent ?? ô_o
even if I can't use tracking effect but I love it! in every tutorial they do almost perfect tracking but in my videos not even good.
the explanation of frames per second was excellent!
Mg favourite plugin is the fx console by video copilot.
Let's you add an effect to a layer by a keyboard shortcut instead of locating the effects tab.
Thanks for another great video! This is a great feature for travel filmmakers who use slow-mo b-roll.
Thanks! For sure!
Such an interesting effect bro haven't knew about this earlier, and my favorite effect all time would be masks and RSMB
RSMB = life saver
You are a MASTERFUL COLORIST! Keep on cranking that fire content bro
Thanks so much man!
Nice 👌
Great video, as always! What mic do you use? Do you edit your voice a lot in post?
I'm not a premiere user anymore, (switched to Resolve) but this does seem promising. It would be hard to go back to premiere since my favorite thing about Resolve is their 'Optimized Media' system, similar to proxies in premiere, but it works so much better and I can actually playback 4K60fps footage without stuttering now, I love it! Great video Aidin, I'm looking forward to that upcoming PNW video!
Honestly dude, using After Effects with Resolve seems about as difficult as using it with Premiere hahaha
Thank you Aidin for another valuable tutorial. As usual You managed to explain things very well. Since I didn’t know Timewarp analyses the frames, I only used the premiere terrible speed feature and it caused me lots of issues.
For me Proxy files and Adobe Media Encoder changed the way I work totally.
Proxies = game changer. Covering them as part of next week's video haha
Aidin Robbins that’s great! I’m waiting then haha happy Quarantine
I commented before, but had to come back to this video and say my favorite effects are motion tile, repetile and optics compensation.
Great video. I'm just curious about the part at 1:52. Will 40/80 percent slow motion still be completely smooth if you're shooting in 23.976 instead of a flat 24?
depends- never slow down footage shot at 24 or 23.976, that'll be choppy as hell haha. But for editing settings, 24 and 23.976 are pretty much interchangeable
Man, it works so beautifully on some clips but on others it just goes crazy. Shows like a still frame or is just way off in every possible way. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong!
realy nice effect . i like your video . keep going . like
I appreciate it!
Hello Sir. Please help me. .I use after effect cc 2015 .Please Solve my camera tracker problem. . Whenever I track any footage, every time only 27 track points are shown and the track points do not move with the video. .Will add camera and solid or camera and null or text layer but they do not move with tracking data. .He stays in place and does not connect with the motion of the video. .Please Solve my Problem. . I have been trying for a month to fix it but cannot. .Please help me. .Thank you
Useful tutorial! Thank you. Some of the harshest comments have found their way to the top and are misleading.
I rarely use After Effects, but half the time it's to use the 3D tracking tools to make titles look like they're in the actual shot.
I've never even really thought about using "off speed" percentages like this, simply because Premiere doesn't really support it without frame skipping. This method is probably the simplest way to do it with the Adobe suite, even if it is still pretty convoluted, LOL.
If Timewarp was just in Premiere natively...
I WISH haha, definitely a process
It was just added to PP, your wish has been granted 😄😉
@@TheElThomaso Sadly I switched to Davinci Resolve about a year ago, ha!
In davinci resolve You can just use optical flow and then speed warp (under the 'retime and scaling' tub in the inspector)...
Can anyone telll me how to fix my clip being cut off due to slowing down the video to 50 percent????
great video Aidin. Seems so complicated - but i will try it out
Thanks! It's a bit of a process but you'll get the hang of it!
thats it!
hey bro I love your videos! but can you please boost your voice when you record the videos! I have to turn up my sound alot and then when it plays a cinematic video you put up it blasts the sound and I have to try turn the volume down. Id appreciate it heaps =)
Will this work the same if interpret footage to 24fps for drone clips that are shot with 30fps? Thanks. Nice video.
Yep! It'll be 80% speed
When using premier pro instead of after effects, does it apply the same?
Come Posso realizzare la velocità del video reagisce all'audio, ad ogni basso?
Eng:
The Speed of the video reacts to the audio,to any bass?
I need the color luts or tutorial for the intro please..
Part 1: Guy does an After Effects tutorial.
Part 2: Guy tells people you should use Final Cut, then continues tutorial.
Part 3: Me, looking up to see if Final Cut was still a thing.
Part 4: Me, writing comment and closing tab.
Lol!
it is a great tutorial with a lot of information but what I really wanna know the reference you depend on to have all this information about frames and different speed to apply together.
Calculator
My favourite "effect" is a Color tab in DaVinci Resolve. You should try it out. Switching to Resolve will bring your editing workflow on another level and will speed it up tremendously.
Can't say I haven't considered it haha
@@AidinRobbins BTW you've got talent to animations 👍🏻
Right now, I'm enjoying the Rotoscoping in After Effects. This next thing isn't an effect, but I love sound designing in After Effects.
Sound design in After Effects? Why haha
@@AidinRobbins it feels more intuitive to do it there than in Premiere, though I also do sound design in Premiere.
Hey Aidin! Great info. Question: what’s the difference between a 24fps to a 23.976fps? Does it make a huge difference when I interpret my footage to any of these 2? Thanks! Oh btw, my fave effect in AE is the motion blur where I just have to click it to turn it on.
Only time I've had a problem with it is when creating proxies of a long clip with audio- the .024 difference causes the audio to get out of sync after several minutes. In any other case it's almost never an issue though, 23.976 and 24 are essentially interchangeable
Aidin Robbins thanks man! Learning a lot from this channel! 👍🏽
Can u link the Fake Motion Blur Plug ins for after effects ?
Bro u look like the smart ass guy from any movie with that sweater the glasses and the hairstyle, lol. Good vid my friend.
How to add motion blur in premier? Any plugins?
RSMB! A bit pricey for just motion blur though haha. CC Force Motion Blur works well and is included with AE
Hi Aidin, please make a tutorial regarding the animations and title animations that you used in this video, that'll be really awesome
Maybe soon!
Big Dawg!
Straight up...I hit u up quite a few times already! I don’t want to be a pain in the neck. However, I need to learn how ur color grading your footage!! Dope, epic, deep, etc!! Let me Know!!!!!!
👍🏽🙏🏽
Posterize time is another good effect if, when previously had to take 1000 pictures to make a 30 second time lapse. Now you can just posterize your video footage and slow it down, with Timewarp, to simulate timelapse.
Your video inspire me to keep doing cinematic video even I use phone and kinemaster 😂😆😁
Wait, so if you shoot in 120 and slow down to 24 fps, would you still want to use timewarp?
Depends, but you could. The clip will just be 20% speed instead of 40%
Agreed. Speed ramping in Premiere is one of its weaknesses. Plus a lot of us have used FCPX and it's just so easy there. Just give me FCPX speed ramping in Premiere plz.
the hiss in the audio is off the charts
Oh that's just my pet snake 🐍
Pls do the dynamic link after effects with media encoder
Why does mine go black after adding time warp?
aidin, did you make the infograph with the bars yourself?
You know it 👊
How?! Tutorial!
The intro music ?
I would say...I am enjoying watching your content...U r crossing peter mecknon.
Turbulence displacement and the graph editor are my two choices...
Two clicks and you have optical flow in Premiere. This seems like is the longest worst way to do this. Is there something I’m missing?
we gotta be missing something
That's exactly what I was thinking. I was waiting to see if there was an obvious advantage to this method, but it seems much longer for barely any payoff. I mean I guess the more you know??
@@spiffystudios4660 I guess making a whole ass video about it and posting it to youtube is one way to learn about optical flow in premiere 😂
Do you now use Hitfilm or Premiere?
what camera did you use?
EOS R
What lenses did you use for the opening shot?
Tamron 85 and Sigma 35
@@AidinRobbins sigma 1.4 right? What color profile you use?
One of the most useful tools in Final Cut is the Multi-camera feature. I often create a lot of interview style video with multiple angles and FCPX allows me to automagically sync all the clips.
You can do it on Premiere Pro as well. You can Google it.
Dude how do you know all this stuff?! 🤣💪🏼 very informative thanks for the insight
Haha glad you enjoyed!
Yess timewarp Is one the best effects ever. No one ever mentions it lol
Dude your yellow palms are freaking me out
I have FCPX I don't use it because I have Premiere lol. Not sure why Time Remapping is bad in premiere I love it.!!!
Jesus! If I move my head fast to the left I can hear something rattleling inside it like I shook something loose after listening to this video.
So basically optical flow in pr, cool
You can also use Twixtor to slowdown a footage.
