  • In this video I'm explaining some of my techniques for the layering of kick (bass) drums.
    Some of the areas I explore are single kick processing, layering with other kicks, layering with sounds like hi hats and shakers, and finally an example of layering in one of my own tracks.
    Feel free to ask some questions underneath and I'll do my best to answer them.

    I'm so happy this popped up as a suggested video because it's exactly the missing puzzle piece I needed for today's studio session! Thank you 😊

    It’s amazing how subtle changes can have such a big effect on the sound. On a track like this, would you automate the drumbeat’s volume so it’s quieter or louder in certain “louder” sections ie a chorus part, or generally keep the same volume throughout?

    Great tips Eelke! Thank you! Curious, have you used Kick2 for designing kicks?

      I’ve used version 1! But it never really became a part of my workflow and I currently don’t use it anymore.

    Great tutorial, Battery is such a good place for mangling samples. Drum Bus only going through the Neve Pre or there´s additional processing?

      Yeah I’ve been on Battery since the very first version, still amazing :-) Every now and then I have an EQ on the drum bus too, but usually it’s the Neve by itself.

    Great video Eelke. Why do you use Battery and not Groove Agent?

    • @eelkekleijn
      @eelkekleijn  3 роки тому +1

      I've been using Battery since the very first version, I think I've used it on every track I have ever made ;)
