Just bumped into your channel last week. You're the champion of good cheer, Emma! You always have tips for onboard thrift on your videos I have seen so far, which is very important to the 90% on a budget. You will be getting comped in luxury suites as your stardom rises and every cruise line wants you on their ships, but don't lose "the common touch."
Only addition is especially if your going someplace sunny and hot, bring sunscreen, very expensive on board. And don’t forget to pack formal wear if you want to participate in formal night, like at least I know Royal Caribbean has.
We have luggage just for the cruise where we keep our cruise essentials (yes, we go through every item to make sure it still fits or is not out of date). This includes a first aid kit, USB multiport, toothbrush/paste, brush/comb, and the all-important Disney wardrobe.
A USB hub is one of my essential items for cruising. I used to bring a power strip but it takes up too much space. I’m always charging my portable chargers, earphones, cameras and everything thing else. I admire people who can pack for a week or two in a cabin bag (or carry on bag as we say in the States). Even though I doubt I will be able to pack carry on only for a cruise, I do pack significantly less now than I did on my first cruise.
I didn't know it was called different thing in the states so that's interesting! A USB hub is always good. I have a few plugs with two usbs on them, I'd usually take those. Thanks for commenting! 😋👍🏼
I have a mens toiletry case that I keep my room essentials in. Everything from a few hook magnets for the walls to plug adapters. Just things that I have learned to bring on a cruise. I also carry an extensive med kit with odd ball items like an eyeglass repair kit and a dental repair kit and Leukotape P Sports Tape ( a loops wrapped around an old gift card) . These are super tiny but boy was I thankful when I needed them. This med kit is also a toiletry case so while it is packed with needed items it is also very small. I travel with carry on only and with just my carry on luggage and a backpack. You can cruise small and still have everything you need.
I'm very nearsighted, and I have had a pair of glasses break while traveling, so I always pack a spare pair now. When it happened, I had to put that broken pair back together with a coffee stirrer from the hotel and medical tape from my car's emergency kit. I was at a librarian's conference, and I looked like the biggest nerd ever!
We have a travel 'toilet' bag that is stocked with many of the items. A couple of tips, as a male I need to shave so carry disposable razors and shaving oil rather than foam. At least one charging cable with it's plug and adaptor live in there as well. We carry small bottles of smellie's but dont forget there is always a shop with samplers on the cruise ship!! If you do have two suitcases, his and hers - the latter often bigger, make sure you share clothes across the cases in case one goes walkies. Lastly for now, if you do have cases that are being checked in, take a change in clothes in a carry on bag. When you get somewhere warm it is good to change in to shorts, tea shirts etc before your cases arrive at the cabin.
Funny you should day that... Jonos suitcase is half the size of mine haha! But I do let him share some space... Super tips! Thank you for commenting. Hope you've been well!! 😋👍🏼
That passport has been well-travelled - and that's meant as a compliment. In fact, I'm impressed! 👏👏 I wonder if they make a travel-sized kitchen sink 🤔 Thanks for the video (even) 5 years after the fact. Blessings to Emma and family, Hudson and Rolo 🐾🐾, and you!
If you’re allergic to shampoos/soaps/conditioners make sure to take your own. Otherwise they provide shampoo and conditioner. Unfortunately for me I can’t buy these onboard. And I take USB hubs to charge things. They’re very convenient
In my experience, Cruise ships make stops in civilized ports. If you forget something, you can always buy it either on the ship or in the port. People need to stop worrying so much
Great video....off on our 1st cruise from Southampton soon.... I’ve got most things you mentioned on my list. I always over pack but I’m trying really hard not too this time....👍
Ooo, I hadn't even thought about Australia to be honest with you! I do if I already have some (usually have some left over from something) but I very rarely go out and get cash anymore. I always end up losing out by exchanging it and exchanging back! Thanks for your comment :)
All great advice! One cruise I nearly gave myself a heart attack when I misplaced my passports in a bag and thought I forgot them. I need my power strip! Of course I have two daughters and a ton of electronics! Also, sweet shirt!
I have a clear plastic vanity case ( it used to contain a hairdryer and accessories) - which is kept all year round with mini shampoos, conditioner, plasters, disposable razors, small talcum powder, deodorant, hairbrush, perfume, moisturizer etc plus gaviscon and paracetamol ( just in case)- I just check it over before a voyage then grab and go 👍
Great tips as usual Emma all p&o ships have British sockets i think Fred Olsen might as well not been on their ships, i always take a very short extension lead in my case so many electrical appliances to charge up. Regarding passports and like i take an A4 size plastic folder has passport e tickets booking tickets and insurance things and keep it in my small hand luggage for easy access only leaves me through x ray machine, then straight into bedroom safe, hope this helps someone not cruised before.
It all comes from me being too lazy to put things away but it makes sense... 😂😂😂 The suitcase is literally a big storage box! Thanks for commenting 😁👍🏼
As soon as I get back from my upcoming cruise - I’ll be ordering my Cruising Isn’t Just for Old People t-shirt from teespring (don’t want packages piling up outside my door when I’m away)! Very sensitive packing video! Wish I could be more like you & just pack a carry-on bag, but I need my stuff (especially if I’m going on a cold weather cruise - Alaska)! My prescription meds & passport are the 2 most important things that I must have - the rest is just so I can be comfy while cruising!
Hey Bonnie! Sounds super let me know when you get the shirts. We need to make them in bubba sizes!!! Haha. Definitely isn't as easy to pack light for colder cruises... Thanks for commenting.
Bubba can wear a child’s small t-shirt (he is 28lbs)! Princess fits into an infant’s onesie (she has one from Cruise Tips TV)! I’ll post pics on your FB Page when I get my t-shirt (and Bub & Prin’s “Cruising Isn’t Just For Old People” wardrobe)!
I agree with the hairbrush! I once dropped my hairbrush off my balcony (it was an accident!) and it landed 2 balconies down and broke. I had to buy one from the ship shop and it was $$$!!
Hahaha! When I used to format and was cruising with family my mum would always bring a spare... But now I must remember! The prices in the ships shops make me feel a bit sick 😂👍🏼 Thanks for commenting!
I always carry a small comb (for detangling) and a v small travel brush (for styling). On a recent trip I forgot the comb was on the bed - sat on it and broke off handle (still kinda usable but at least I still had the brush). I would suggest backups with slightly different purposes so they each has a purpose (my travel brush goes straight into my day bag for emergencies during the day). (But I definitely suggest a spare hair elastic IN YOUR DAY BAG if you have long hair - even if your wearing your hair down that day it might get windy and you wish you'd tied it back) FYI I prefer your hair short Emma - really suits you
I noted on one of your other videos about taking plug adapters. In NZ (as in the UK) we are on 230volts. But, American plugs would be based on 110volts. So what voltage would be in the cabins? Yeah, I'm being rather technical now so no problem if you don't know :)
I am guessing a cabin bag is carry on bag. I watch CruiseTIpTV she packs a carry on. My problem is where do you put anything you pick up in port. So I am interested in seeing how you pack carry on only.
Hey Adrienne, I don't normally pick up anything haha. Not one for souvenirs, only bought really small things like keyrings on my last cruise. The problem really is the stuff I buy in the gift shop... 😂😂 Thanks for commenting! 😎👍🏼
Id really like to know what everybody else is charging 🤔😂 I charge my phone overnight and maybe a go pro or battery pack in the day. That's about it. Thanks for commenting!
@@EmmaCruises Haha thank you! You can probably tell by my profile pic I was on her last year ☺ We are doing the Baltics next year on Marella Explorer 2, your tips might actually help me reduce my luggage ☺
I didn't bring an adapter to my Mediterranean cruise because Princess has American plugs, and I forgot (duh) that I had pre- and post- stays in Barcelona and Rome. I went to plug my laptop in and ... gulp! It was my first trip to Europe and I had never used an adapter in my life, didn't even know what they looked like. After I bought one in BCN, I recognized the strange devices at the hotel front desk and in my steward's cart. So I could have gotten away with borrowing them. PS if you put your passport in your luggage, please please remove it before handing your luggage off to a porter when you check in.
Yesss, sorry didn't realise it had other names haha. I mean the bag you can fit inside the plane without paying for luggage 😎👍🏼 Thanks for your comment!
Australia is another country you don't need a passport for there domestic cruises (not going to another country) all you meed is photo ID. You don't go through immigration just a security check.
You are so full of life. You need to tone it down. Many of us are old and dead and your liveliness is uncomfortable. Please moderate your posts for the dead. ;)
I like to pack some of the battery powered tea lights to have to find your way around your cabin at night without turning on a light
Good idea 😀💕

Hey Emma, in this video you mention packing videos, but I didn’t see a playlist around packing, especially since you pack cabin bag only 🙃

Do you know if a hair dryer can be plugged into an adapter?
I find if I fully packed a few days before I go away, that way I know if I'm missing anything.
Never travel without scotch tape, rubber bands and Blue tack. I learnt that the hard way.
I think on many cruise lines you can't bring power strips on board, but I believe USB hubs are okay.
I have started to pack an eye glass repair kit. Needed one on my last cruise and it was hard to find one. Luckily my stewart had one I could borrow.
Ooo that's a good idea! I don't wear glasses so wouldn't think about that one. Thank you for your comment! 😋👍🏼

2 cell phones, iPad, 2 smart watches, camera, Bluetooth earbuds and power bank. At least 8 items for 2 people. 🤷♀️
