You can see in the edited image that the finish line isn't lined up properly with 2012, but for reference a 5 millisecond gap would look around the same as the gap between blake and gay. (9.75 and 9.80 before gay was disqualified)
So wrong, difference is about .53m, 2012 has the fastest closing 50m in history he's start was very poor compared to 09. Maybe jitters from the false start in 2012, he became slower out the blocks, cuz he could catch up down the track. In 100m, 2m is roughly 0.2 sec that's huge in 100m.
I do have a creeping suspicion I need to relook at this spreadsheet of mine! it does seem too far... I will look and do a video with a groveling apology if I am wrong and I will correct things... normally I get thing wrong twice though. Lets see.
@@roughlyestimatedyes he is right You don't know basic maths when Tyson gay runs 9.71 and bolt runs 9.58 1.5 mtrs gap with 0.13 second But 9.58 and 9.63 =0.05 = 0.6 /0.7 mtrs means you should right 2 feet rather than 2 metres
Great work, but if that was the case, then 9.71s Tyson Gay would have been neck and neck with a 9.63s Usain Bolt, which doesn't add up, as 9.63s is obviously faster than 9.71s. There's a 0.05s difference, so that's about a 0.6m difference. Running time (leaving the RT out), difference goes down to 0.03s, meaning 0.35m difference between both versions of Bolt. Split times that you are using are also not correct, apparently. Bolt split 6.32+3.31 in London and 6.31+3.27 in Berlin.
Maybe the video is corrrecr and bolt ran 9.48 who knows lol, the dude is overlaying 2 races at 100m so 1 track shorter or bolt ran faster than 9.58, your guess is as good as mine.lol.
Try Bolts 2008 olympics 9.69 run with world record 9.58 and see if bolt run with full speed till end with that start he got in 2008 olympics final and top end speed of last 40 m of 2009 WR Race .. what time he would have finished??
I think I have this data... I definitely have the splits for the 9.63 and 9.58... video on that very very soon. Also.. something very interesting in it about Noah Lyles.

This is actually terrible for once. 5/100s is only 60cm in distance - not 2 metres - enough that a well timed lean could almost cover it. The only difference in 2009 vs 2012 was that Bolt's reaction time was bad and first 10-20m was worse as well - He could have broken the WR with that great +1.5 legal tailwind if he didn't mess that first 10m up. WR should probably have been re-set at 9.53s on that day. Shame.
lol it would look nothing like that - it’s 0.05 sec. They would have been much closer at the end

0.05 X approx 12m/s = 0.6m

0.05 sec cannot be 2 mtrs even at cheetah speed. There is no if here brother
Lol I just wrote the exact same thing! I even used 12!!
When you adjust for wind, it's even closer. And the 9.69 race is also interesting due to his slight decel at the end

Very roughly estimated
Can you do Usain bolt 9.58 vs Yohan vlake 9.69 laussane please 🙏🏾. Great video by the way .👌🏾

It would look similar to bolts 9.58 vs gays 9.71.
Same as bolt vs gay
