I have a similar setup where NFC tags add reminders for my laundry and dishwasher. Also just started using them with the “When did I…?” app to track infrequent chores such as taking out recycling or cleaning the grill. Eventually I hope to maintain an inventory of my pantry with tags to handle usage and restocking
Thanks for responding. I tried and it didn’t work. The entire pack of tags. After I programmed it, the phone couldn’t read it . Would really appreciate a step by step guide if you have the time. Thanks again.
Hi!! I have a question: Is there a way to use an NFC tag to play a movie on apple tv? I found it justo to play music using shortcuts, not movies :/ Thanks!
The one about ignoring motion alerts, cant we just enable the motion alerts only when not at home in the camera settings on home app directly? Why to scan nfc tag and do it manually?
i want to receive alerts wether i'm home or not (ie alerts while inside and away, but not while outside...especially helpful if chilling outside on a porch)
QR codes may be more convenient for this task since modern iOS/Android phones allow to join/share a wifi using a QR code which embeds not only the code but also the SSID.
Edit: Based on this thread, I've confirmed that a key difference is an NFC tag can only be used by specific people (so it's "protected" in a way) whereas a button can be pressed by anyone. So a tag is more secure but less flexible whereas a button is less secure but more convenient. Original post: Wouldn't one of the key differences between a tag and button be that the tag is set to specific people/devices, so the user is essentially "authenticated", whereas a button is able to be pressed by anyone? The former is safer but more restrictive whereas the latter is more convenient but less protected. Or at least I have to assume the tag users are set up/specific to the tag, since you're putting a lock's code right next to the lock itself. If anyone can just walk up with a phone to use the tag, that doesn't really make that use case very useful. Or am I missing something there?
This is true. This was a pretty high level comparison of buttons and tags but yes you are correct, this is also a difference. nfc tags require a phone and a shortcut setup to run whereas a button can be used by anybody without a phone in hand
@@AdamsTechLife okay, that makes sense, appreciate the response. I'll argue that "a tag is an authenticated experience and a button is not" is probably one of the most important big-picture differences. Maybe that's just me. 🙃
You can probably provide the steps to solve this problem. I take an article from a storage bin. The article has an NFC tag with only this information: code number, price and possibly a short description. I hold the tag against the phone. This registers the content which it stores directly in the Excel file of the phone. If you clearly show these steps in a video, you will be doing the Dutch Cyclists Union a great service! Many thanks in advance!
How do you use NFC Tags in your smart home?

where can we get the aqara door sensor case?

I love a good NFC tag automation. Great video!
Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for your comment :)
Great video.
Could you please do a step by step video of how to use the NFC tag for a guest wifi?
get any nfc tag and use the app "nfc tools" and program the tag with the wifi details :)

7:29 how does this shortcut to get set up? Do you have a link?
add an intercom action, type your message and choose your room.
is there a away we can have short to display CCTV camera when we tap on NFC tag?
you can use the tag to open the homecam app and display the live feed of a camera.
You can also use hotel room keys and Tesla keys as NFC tags
That is awesome, I didn't know that!! 🔥
Hi!! I have a question: Is there a way to use an NFC tag to play a movie on apple tv? I found it justo to play music using shortcuts, not movies :/ Thanks!
Not really, no. It can open an app on the apple tv, but not specific shows or movies.

What app or function did you use to display the shed code?
i used the shortcuts app and show action
@@AdamsTechLife I actually found the action a little while after I posted the question. Thanks for the response!
Can you show us how to mute the eufy alarms on android pleaseeeeee
i don't use android
NFC tag automations are dope! Nice!
They are, thanks for watching and commenting! 😊
Awesome videos sorry I’m soo late
❤️
OR you could just store the TP in the bathroom within arms reach of the throne. Great ideas though!
also true. Thanks for watching! 😊
What about a NFC tag for guest to scan for your WiFi info? Have you done that?
I haven't done that but that is a great idea too!

Can you show how we can start a pc with Tags or RFID Cards?
thanks for the suggestion!
@@AdamsTechLife It will be very helpful to enthusiasts...
What app do you is being used in this video?
to set up and program the nfc tags? the shortcuts app from apple
Happy New Year. You look fantastic brother . Whatever you did…. It’s working. God Bless
Happy New Year my friend! Thank you! ❤️

You have it right. With this setup, the tag is only used to trigger a shortcut. If you don’t have a shortcut configured, the tag will not do anything

who here has an iphone where the vibrate function doesn't work? I have them set on my shortcuts and they never work.
maybe try removing the action then re adding it?
@@AdamsTechLife tried that. No luck.

That could probably be done and would take some scripting for sure
@@AdamsTechLife Would be great, thanks!
The “wink, wink” was challenging to get past.
😅
and if you loose your phone you are dead xD no thx this is way too much (working in security)
Thanks for watching! 😊
You do realize that's not a handle on your mic, it's a clip to put it on your shirt. Rookie.
yeah, it's more fun to hold tbh
