    Great video! I've been thinking about how to organize with QR codes for a while and your video nicely connects the dots on how to do it.
    The great thing about generating your own QR codes is that they can link to just about anything online including Google Keep, Evernote, Notion, GCal etc. This seems like an amazing way to link your physical stuff to your digital stuff. I'm thinking of using these stickers in a standard notebook to link handwritten notes to online resources. The possibilities seem endless.
    Keep up the good work. 👍

      That's right ... the only challenge that I found was that those links has to be public links so depending on what you want to be public it can be a pain in the butt in keeping things private. But you got the right ideas!!! Thanks for watching my videos! Have a great day!!

    • @mikemiller7377

      @@minhsao It's true... that's the main drawback for sure. You can link to a non-Google indexed link like an Evernote link, but that still doesn't make it private. I'm interested in trying this, though.
      The main thing that stopped me from buying the printer you used is that a lot of thermal printing label makers still print with BPA or related compounds which aren't so great for your health. There is phenol free thermal label paper out there, but when I asked the maker of the printer you mentioned in the video if their paper was phenol free, they didn't respond.
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bisphenol_A
      This makes me suspect it has phenols in it which are still not so good for your health. As a result, I took a look at handheld printers that can also print QR codes on a variety of surfaces. (Like the Ricoh Handy Printer).
      It's a fair bit more expensive than the thermal label printer you mentioned, but its versatility might make it worth checking out for a future review. Cheers and thanks for the ideas!

    • @minhsao
      @minhsao  2 роки тому +2

      Hello Thanks for watching my video. You don't really need a url shortener...but a URL shrotener does make the QR code smaller, but if you are using the NFC tags it doesn't really matter. But with that said, I actually build my own URL shortener in this video by using yourls.org/ inside a docker container. It's pretty simple but it will be much more than I can explain here in a comment. But if you are interested, I can create one as s future video. Anyways, if you do not want register your own shorten domain and build your own URL shortener, then I would suggest you try one of the free url shorteners. blog.appsumo.com/best-url-shortener/ ... I could not find one that I feel is super safe without my information being sold or controlled that is why I built my own. I hope my response helps and good luck and thanks again for watching my video and let me know if I can help. Have a great day.

    I have spent hours looking at your video multiple times and spent too much time with tiny url. It won't let me create an alias at the end like you do on your video. I just wanted to add a number like 701. It doesn't look like I have to pay for a subscription. All I want is to label my inventory of stuff I need to list on ebay. Is there a user friendly (for struggling senior) that I can use? I am open to anyone answering.

    • @minhsao
      @minhsao  Рік тому +3

      Sorry that you have to spend so much time messing with this. Yeah most of the free URL shorteners just give you a randomly generated address. That's really ok, because the only reason you need a shortener is to reduce the URL size so you can reduce the QR code size. In my demo, i built my own URL shortener that is why I can use any suffix that I choose. My recommendation are the following: 1) if you are interesting in learning how everything works and don't mind spending the extra time, then I would continue to use the method described in this video, but either use another free URL shortener or just don't worry about the custom suffix. 2) If that custom suffix really bothers you then you can get a paid service like beaconstac which provides QR code as well as shortened URL. 3) Finally, it maybe much easier if you are planning to pay to just simply use a complete solution that I have listed in the description. It's never bad to learn about how it works, but it just take time and effort. I hope my answer helps. and if you have any additional questions please feel free to post it here and I will try to assist. Good luck and thanks again for watching my videos! Happy Thanksgiving!!!
