This has to be one my favorite concepts for a spin-off series yet. The Olympics being an eventful union of countries around the world and this being an eventful union of two beloved game franchises.

I love how vibrant they made it look and how much more comforting with a less real colour palette. The first one was dullish, so this seriously showed off how Sega and Nintendo have such colourful casts.

I love all of the games brings back so many memories and it’s so wholesome. I don’t have a favorite but it’s definitely between 2008 and 12. I usually played shadow, metal, Luigi and Amy.
The intros from 2010 and 2012 are my favorite.

Kinda sad that from Rio onwards they use the ingame graphics for the opening intros, rather than the pre-rendered like they used to

Agreed in Sochi they use Ingame instead using the cgi
Suk-Mike-Hok Tokyo was pretty good, but Rio looked awful in my opinion animation wise, they could've been polished up a bit more. I'm personally more of a fan of the rendered openings as I always found it makes game openings more special. The first three games openings were exciting through the enhanced personally and action through cgi.

Vancouver 2010 and London 2012 will always be my favorite. I probably have more nostalgia playing those games than any other video game I’ve ever played in general. I recently got Tokyo 2020 and although it’s a fun game it will never compare to the early 2010s. That was when the series peaked. ❤️🔥

All of them look amazing but the first two in particular are two of the most beautiful openings to a video game, graphics wise. You’d never guess that those graphics were from the Wii, which was largely underpowered compared to the PS3 and Xbox 360. Yet the intros are so stunning that they look like games released in the eighth generation of consoles (Nintendo Switch, PS5 and Xbox Series X)

Yeah, the intros of the first three games were pre-rendered CGI cutscenes.
Which is why there’s no excuse as to why they don’t make them like that anymore
I don’t understand why they didn’t keep doing them pre-rendered. I’m guessing their animation team was shortened and that’s why a lot of animation is reused in-game.
I like how we were shown that they all don't even use their power, but then 3:06 hit and i was like, tails isn't that cheating?

Olympic winter games (2010) will always be the best for me, I was so happy to get it as a birthday present and the story mode for the DS was so interesting!

I like the Vancouver 2010 opening scene since it has suspense almost in the end but still clutched to be a sudden end.
I don't like the Sochi 2014 opening scene since the opening scene is only about 10 seconds long.

Just an amazing intro, does anybody know the studio that made it or was it SEGA internally?
I'm guessing Sega made the 3D models and cutscenes. Plus, the in-game models are accurately based off of the CGI models seen in the cutscenes, only lower poly.
You can edit the in-game models to look like the CG ones using Photoshop (textures) and various 3D modeling techniques found in any 3D modeling program.
@@SNLYoshi21 Yes I use Blender I know how it all works. That said, I don’t SEGA made that cutscene internally, it’s oddly high quality and was probably outsourced.
@@SNLYoshi21 Ok yeah I watched the credits for the game. The Opening is done by none other than Marza Animation Planet! Same guys behind the Unleashed intro and the Sonic movie! Go figure.
Sega has this animation studio called Marza animation planet which animated & edited all these openings. It is a Sega game made entirely by Sega after all.
Ironically, as I start this video the 2020 trailer plays 😂😂

London 2012, Winter games 2010 and Rio 2016 were my personal favorite
I hope Mario & Sonic will meet again in the 2024 Olympic Games. If not, I WILL be disappointed at Nintendo and Sega. They have been fighting over which video game company is the best for far too long.

It’s cause they started to use in game models instead of pre renders starting with Sochi. That’s why the graphics look bad
@@snewp_e2139 And somehow those in-game models can be edited to look more like the pre-rendered cutscenes. I did that with my Yoshi model from the Sochi game, using mainly Photoshop and Blender.
I still have the Beijing one for Nintendo DS and I absolutely love it, my favorite game ever! Ican't even explain how much I adore it since this game and the concept is genius, but i also love the olympic games since i was a kid so... Priceless 🥺🤧

London 2012 was my first videogame ever. I cryied.

They should just make every game like London 2012. Have an equal amount of dream and normal events, original minigames like in Mario Party and also change what original events are in each game. We don’t need the 100 and 4x100 in all of them. What about 800 or baseball or synchronized swimming?

Considering this was the first set of games I played on the wii, I have a bias, especially for the Beijing and Vancouver ones so their intros hit me with the most nostalgia! It was honestly my favourite set of games. I also have the London 2012 games which I haven’t played much, but it was a treat nonetheless,

Ok, honestly, the way they did the transition from Olympic events to Dream events was truly amazing in London 2012, same with 2020, but 2012 did better with the transition.
The Olympic Winter Games Vancouver 2010 was the god tier experience, WII and DS. Fight me on that one.
