Following in my dads footsteps by being a member of a P3 crew has been the highlight of my life thus far.
I was the Flight Engineer on the P-3. Always had an amazing time in that aircraft, especially during airshows!
surely not as sporty as a cat-1 fly-1
@@Wya934 Definitely not.
I love how the p3 leaves a smoketrail behind each engine
That’s a fuel trail👍🏼
1980-2000 4000 hours in the P3....miss it.
Always dug the Orions since I was a kid when we had them based at the now defunct NAS Brunswick, Maine. They were always out playing around The Portland Jetport and always were great performers at the Blue Angels airshows. Sure do miss those sweet old ladies up here gracing our skies.
I was at VP-62 with LT Allphin and PO1 Shively and never knew they flew at this show lol
I miss hearing the P-3 on the flight line at NAS Whidbey Island.
P3, VP8, Brunswick, Aircrew 6, '71 - '74, AW2. Go Tigers!
Electra first flight 1957 service entry with Eastern airlines 1959 170 produced. P-3 produced 1961-1990 with 750 produced by Lockheed and Kawasaki. there will be P-3's in the air hunting subs when that P-8 is in the boneyard.
omg the P-8 sounds like a giant FA-18 Super Hornet taking off 😍🙌🏾💪🏾
Yeah Buddy 🇺🇸👍
My dad was a Trainer at VP-30 at NAS Jax. He flew them for 15 years. He misses the planes and the P-8 is a nice plane but it won’t be as elegant as the P-3
It’s crazy how the rnzaf has a the p3k2 Orion since 1960 and the first p8 is coming me up t yesr
It is a huge mistake to replace the venerable Orion, it has proven itself time and again, the P-8 will be just like the waste of money just like the F-22, goes out for Operation Noble Eagle and does some training but never actually sees combat!
I was a p2v Neptune. Member vp11 in. The. 50’s don’t. Ever. Forget. It A double e. Squadron
4 turbo prop airplanes 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Why tf replace the P-3 with a less maneuverable jet?
I understand your opinion. The Navy needed a bigger candidate that could fly a bit faster and could stay on patrol longer. The 737 was considered for it's bigger engines and fuel efficiency. Plus the Orion has been in the Navy for over half a century
@@HoldensAirshowVideoMedia Yeah, but what they should also consider is the maneuverability of the plane, so it can avoid missiles or guns from ships/subs
@@tack9571 They have Jammers and a CMS systems so they can hold their own, they are not front line aircraft
This is horrible and why the noise of those other vintage airplanes i.e.T-6 aircraft? When we all want to see the flybys of both aircraft in action.
Shaky camera and an announcer that wouldn't come up for air.
