First time watching your video. I'm looking to turn to blues playing, AKA bending notes. I started using tongue blocking back in 1940 when I got my first harp so for me that's nothing new except for using split chords now. At 81 I'm still learning so it's learning the blues scale for me now. Will be watching your other vids for more great lessons.Thanks.

Great. I've been a U blocker for 30 years. Used a bit of tongue blocking for octaves. Now I'm finally trying tongue blocking for single notes ; it definitely bades for a fuller single note tone!

First time I've watched a Levy video... what amazing tone! It sounds as if his harp, mouth and throat all form one single instrument.

Back in the 60's Hohner would have a instruction pamphlet with their harmonicas that taught tongue blocking.

Thanks a lot, Mr.L. I've been following Adam Gussow's tutorials but it's always good to listen to another expert. I'm just starting TB and, as you can imagine, any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks again.

I am a guitar player and have played all kinds of blues from ragtimey Blind Blake, Piedmont blues , Delta blues , chicago blues and compared to trying to tongu block on a harmonica I think guitar is easy peezy in comparison but of course I have practiced a billion times on guitar and not much on harp. I want to be able to tongue block because Little Walter did and so did Big Walter so why wouldn't I wanna play like them.

Having learned to play harp exclusively tongue blocking to the left, and getting my single notes to the right...it's very difficult to learn to block the opposite direction. I've only heard one blues harp player use right tongue blocking in a number. And then, years later trying to learn the purse method for single notes is extremely difficult after having been a tongue blocker.

That's a good introduction to tongue blocking but you make it complicated by saying you have to blow out of different sides of your mouth for different holes. If you just play out of the right side of your mouth then you can play all the notes, but hole one is played by lip blocking (because there will be no holes to block to the left).

You're forgetting splits and octaves nick. And it's never a bad idea to learn how to tounge block out both sides of your mouth. If you wanna learn to TB don't half ass it.
