At one point he was rumoured to be replacing Rosberg when he announced his retirement. Theres a parallel world somewhere where that switch happened and he is a Grand Prix winner
And yet some kid who’a mainly likely because they have “Kimi” in their name might get Hamilton’s seat for next year. Toto Wolff makes me question his sanity sometimes
Im here after the Stoffel video as well. Both videos are amazing!! I am excited for your future videos and will be going back and watching your old videos.
Pascal got points out of the Manor and Sauber, two absolutely awful cars. I've heard that he had a terrible attitude, but I don't know how true that was. The guy is absolutely talented. He clutched his way from 3rd to the Formula E title.
The poor attitude accusations came from DTM, people who worked with him at Manor claimed they did not get that impression at all. What did him in in F1 was apparently a lack of useful feedback while testing for Force India, which led them to sign Ocon instead.
USA 2016 Free Practice (I don’t remember which session) he completely ignored his engineer. Did some pretty noteworthy damage to the engine if I remember rightly, this annoyed Manor big time (and Mercedes going forward - similarly to how Merc never forgave Alonso as a driver for their then customers) - And is an example of his poor attitude. He whines like Hamilton (Mexico 2016 - upset at a fair fight), but because he hadn’t won anything in F1 yet his attitude got him pushed to one side pretty much. He was good enough just like Hamilton though, and I feel he deserved a shot, his drives in that Manor and the crappy Sauber in 2017, were reminiscent to some things Bianchi did in his Marussia’s before, and Leclercs drives in the 2018 Sauber afterward.
@@nathanturner5186I think he had couple of incidents like that with Manor. Largely though most that have worked with him at either Manor or Sauber said his attitude problems were greatly exaggerated by the press.
Always used to use Pascal in the F1 games and on Raceroom with the mid 2010's DTM cars. He did well in DTM and Formula E but just not f1 which was a shame.
I think that pole Hulk got, they were all on slick tyres. Just he was able to get the laptime out of the car quicker. Had 2 laps good enough for pole. Guy is just lightning quick on those type of conditions. As for Wehrlein. Guy deserved longer in F1. Sucks that money comes over talent with some drivers in F1.
We dont really know how bad his attitude really was with FI. He only did the 2015 pre season tests I believe and they based it off that. It must've been close though, to decide over what attitude/personality they preferred. Sometimes certain personalities just don't mix with some teams. I remember similar case with Hulk where some people from Sauber in 2013 thought he was bit too much/asked too many questions. However, every other team enjoyed working with him. Could be similar case with Wehrlein, just his personality didnt gell with Force India. Most guys from Sauber and Manor say they liked working with him and his attitude "issues" were a bit exaggerated by the press.
I think he would've been successful in CART era Indycar, a bit like Alex Zanardi.Speaking of DTM, I would like to see again big German coupe like that Mercedes battling out with Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm, instead of garden variety GT3 cars.
wow looking back I never realised why he didnt get the williams seat in 2017, Massa unretired himself due to bottas moving and considering lance was coming why not sign pascal instead (at least merc should have pushed it) but I guess it was a victim of nicos retirement being so out of the blue at the end of the year
Popped in after watching your Vandoorne video recently. Good work... Anyways i think Wehrleins career was toasted after not getting the Force India seat in 2017, its a far more interesting proposition with who would've come on top between Wehrlein v Perez that year then the one we got with Ocon v Perez. Theoretically after Strolls takeover a switch could've been made as it was with Stroll to Force India/Tracing Point and Wehrlein to Williams alongside George Russell with either of them slugging it out to go into Mercedes when Bottas got booted.. We'll never know as lifes like that sometimes but its fun to ponder.. I like to think that Williams probably wouldn't be as trigger happy for young pay drivers alongside better car development if say Russell or Werhelin were more or less to stay in it consistently or wreck out.. who knows
It’s as if it was a case of wrong place, wrong time in some ways. Had stroll spent a year in F2 or if Williams let Massa retire then Wehrlein might’ve had a chance
@@nedzosf1gridbox I'm surprised that like Toto Wolff or whoever his agents are didn't push harder for him to go into either of the seats. Proof was pretty much there in his potential only to get shafted as he did to never be seen in F1 again.
I never really knew how to judge Pascal in F1, though to be fair he did some good stuff in the Manor. And he's come into his own I think since he moved to Formula E, and especially since his move to Porsche, and his championship this year was well deserved, even if Jaguar arguably bottled it in London. I have a bit of a soft spot for him as he's half-Mauritian, and both my mother's parents were from Mauritius (though she herself was born in England). So it's cool to see that country represented in motorsport in some way, even if not visibly, considering he races under the German flag. (And I thought Bianchi was penalised for the clash with Kobayashi? I know the five seconds he got which dropped him to 9th was for serving a penalty under safety car, but was that original penalty for that move or something else?)

Imagine if Audi bring Wehrlein back to F1 for next year
It is possible
If Pascal was able to score points with the worst 2 cars on the grid, imagine him doing it with the bests
