Fun little trivia for those who never did the Hydie fight with Trusts: every Scion is programmed to get hit by at least 1 mechanic during the fight EXCEPT Yshtola, because all of Hydie's attacks are telegraphed with Aether-- the only thing Yshtola can see :D
When I did mine alphi and estinien stacked for a split aoe mechanic and as they were about to die they both said something along the lines of "oh God no" afterwards Ali was like oh gods you two really xD
Alisaie also likes to backflip while she has a stack marker during the crystals phase
all scions have little things like that in trusts, i think. y'shtola always does mechanics perfectly due to her aether sight except for vanaspati (because of the dynamis), allisaie and estinien will always steal lb, alphinaud will prioritize allisaie for healing and the twins will raise each other if they die to mechanics, g'raha (and emet) as a tank will sometimes heal you if you're hurt and nearby him, thancred deals less damage if ryne isn't in a party with him because he can't use his bullets (not sure who it is after we leave the first though, probably urianger or y'shtola).
I always wondered my Estinien was the first to eat a vuln stack xD
Its so cool to see them coach eachother through the mechanics too, see em looking out for eachother.
I wish Rich had done the trust version, no ill will to the players that helped him but to me at least, this has always been the surviving scion's fight-not the players'.
@@icefox94 i gotta rerun vaspati with Yshtola. After the final boss it hit me this is probably the first time she felt truly blind since they had no aether for her to see.
I wanna see how that translates into her gameplay in that dungeon. Im expecting screw ups in her dps, some uncertainty, and for her to be a vuln stack magnet
I don't know why, but watching others go through the last few "chapters" of the Endwalker MSQ was far more impactful than when I did it myself. Maybe it's having more time to process it. But yeah, every time I watch a streamer reaction it's like another gut punch.
I feel you, maybe it's because I was playing it nonstop well into the early hours of the morning too lol
Nah, had more fun doing it myself. Rich didnt do the alliance raids so the adamantite delivery scene was meh. And watching him do the altiascope even when chat already suggested the npcs to bring was really hard to watch.
I agree, the big moments hit different
for me its the musical choices that hit emotional cues in my brain the second or third etc time around

Remember the scions basicaly went in with "hey we want to talk to Hydelyn" and came out like "yeah we killed her and got the thing everyone thought to be her as a gift along"

@@AStrangeWindmill She didn't beat him and then break him into pieces. He was the primal of aether, of energy and change, more or less impossible to beat head-on. She broke the world (and therefore him) into 14 pieces, using her power as the primal of stasis and preservation, because it was the only way she could beat and imprison him.

Two things in FFXIV have made me cry. Elidibus's final moments at the end of 5.3, and Venat's farewell here.
The last Elpis cutscene got me the worst. It absolutely blindsided me. And then the feels trip really kicked into full gear and just sent gut punch after gut punch.
while those hit me pretty hard, the seto scene with ardbert hit me the most. i honestly didn't get into my feels that much in endwalker other than here and just being able to speak with emet.
For me it was Arburt and Seto’s reunion and Urianger and Mun’s parents

Just seeing him completely break down with the sheer amount of relief he felt hearing that Moenbryda's parents never blamed him for her death and that all he needed to have done was written them about it made me tear up.

Fuuu- I LOVE both versions of “Flow” and “Flow Together”. One is familiar and warm, like a friend we’ve known for a very long time while the other sings of a being holy and untouchable. Venat was always waiting for us, her brave little spark.
On a different side note;
I also love how Rich calls everyone by their name in the msqs. Venat’s transcendence into Hydaelyn was made for the player to question and even hate her just like how G’raha was expecting us to hate him back in Shadowbringer. They weren’t expecting us to call them by their true name which is why they cry because we never stopped believing in them when it came down to it.

It was the only trial in endwalker that was TRUSTworthy. You shouldn't have TRUSTed booba, but TRUST in your Scion companions.

As a 15 year WoW veteran hearing Blizzard was finishing WC3 story in Shadowlands was laughable. After finally finishing Endwalker MSQ today, it's hysterical. FFXIV actually tied their entire story together and if Blizzard really was trying to ride the coattails of that concept, they failed magnificently. Finishing this story has purged any love and respect for Blizzard I had left and kindled a new love for FFXIV and SE in me. Rich's videos were a massive part of that, so thank you Rich.
They thought that FFXIV's successes were due to keywords and stuff you can plot on a sales chart. The reality is that the devs for XIV actually give a damn about their players and the experience and aren't just making hollow hype without substance or just tossing in functionality at random.

I don’t understand how you could play through the whole story and not do the trust. This is the culmination of our relationship with the scions. This is the moment we come together as a team, forged in turmoil, and tempered in strife, through countless conflicts on this star and on the first. This isnt the WoL’s moment, it belongs to the scions.
Right? Maybe it's just me, but when a certain streamer said (as i was told) they wanted to do it with their friends (other players) who was there the entire journey, I was like "so... the Scions?"

I did it with trust because of all the reasons y'all stated. And the fight ended up feeling too boring for me. It was more fun to have others who didn't know wtf was happening.
Or you can let him play the way he wants. He could do it afterwards with Trusts. Control you do not.

I did this with trust the first time.... I remember coming to the terrible realization..... watching as the LB3 bar filled..... feeling Alisaie's anticipation building..... and then the little so-and-so BLINDED US.

Having 5 seperate videos of him wiping for 5 hours straight and going "easy" "I am so good at this game" an "tripple legend by the way" would've pissed me off equally I think.
Cause lets face it, Rich has been carried through all (somewhat) challenging trials and raids so far and has proven that infact you can carry a sack of potatoes through Ultimates.
I keep seeing people blame booba and it isn’t her fault. It’s kinda pathetic to use he as a scapegoat when all she did was set up a group because rich said he really doesn’t like using trusts. Rich could have run the trust if he wanted but he choose to run with people cause that’s what he liked to do. That has nothing to do with booba.
As much as I love the lore dialogue that can come with trusts, if I was given the choice of taking the trust, or trusting Booba, I would trust Booba every time. No hesitation. In Booba we trust.

@@CocoBanana99 Whatever weapons-grade ADD he's got makes him play like dogshit on stream, but he can manage to pull himself together and do mechanics under the right circumstances. Expand on that, his ultimate clears were stacked in his favor, what with the coaching and pro-tier static, but even in that case, he still had to keep himself from wiping the party for long stretches of time. You can't drag a corpse through an Ultimate, after all.
The memetic answer is that he got carried.

I'm more interested in whether or not he has public parses in the Ultimate since it's probably a lot easier to ignore damage dealing in favour of mechanics if you have 7 experts picking up your damage slack.

She literally killed all ancients but 3. We literally can't have more genocide, there's no one left.
Honestly at just over half of our soul's density, I feel like this was the only point in the time line we could have gone after Meteion. Enough aetheric density to be a strong fighter, but not so dense as to not be able to interact with Dynamis as much as we can. One less rejoining, and maybe we aren't strong enough. One more rejoining, and we're powerless in the face of pure Dynamis.

@@StarShadow9009 not killed, split in 14. remember that they don't see death as we do on the level of individuals but rather care more for the planet and what it means. they don't really care if they die as long as the planet continues, because they know for certain that they'll just be reincarnated.

51:34 I just realized this in hindsight... if Meteion had truly lost all hope and given in to despair and despair only... all the suffering would have never come to pass now would it? Since without the tiny sliver of hope that no one seems to be able to let go of despair might actually stop hurting. This is tricky...

Really disappointed he went with other players instead of the trusts because he missed out massively. Booba prioritising a one-time joke over a one-time trust that wouldn't have been outgeared or had 7 people already knowing the fight was a big mistake.
I can't staaaand that Booba pushed him to do that. the MINUTE I saw this was a trust duty in my playthrough I bee-lined it. No way could I have shunned the all scion party.

@@narius_jaden215 That was my issue too! Booba's already played through and is already out-gearing it, so everything that Rich would have learned naturally through the trust was just gone. I get the sentiment behind having a constant group but in this instance it would have been so much more enjoyable for everyone.
What matters is that he's having the experience he wants to have. That's pretty much all there is to it.
The nice thing is that he can go back and do it with the trust, as it is an option in the list.
I love how every time there's a cutscene Rich's mind is blown.

Funny enough, I accidentally completed this in duty finder the first time around. I wasn't thinking about it (still overwhelmed with the cutscene) and queued up for it instead of speaking to one of the several Scions right next to me fml. Ended up doing it twice because of course I had to do it in trust right after to get the full experience.

Answers has always been a rather depressing piece and it remains so due to us about to lose someone very dear to us (being Hydaelyn herself) but this time also has elements of hope for once as we prepare to take a stand and stop the end times

18:28 NO that is the exact opposite of what would happen, you wouldn't be able to see or manipulate Dynamis, just like the ancients, thus you'd be susceptible to its power with no countermeasure. Mommy Crystal was right to divide the world into smaller fragments in order to make it so that we could like Meteoin perceive and manipulate dynamis ourselves (the fight in which the Warrior of Light is saved by their friends from Endbringers attack is an example of Dynamis, Zenos using his last bit of life to bring that communicator to the WoL may as well be an example of Dynamis.) In Ultima Thule Dynamis is the ultimate and ruling power, so only something or equal or similar power could ever truly change anything there, Meteoin tells us this directly several times.

I have watched a few of Rich's streams. Mainly during Shadowbringers. I didn't last long though. Jeezuz! I had never seen a professional staller before and I never want to see another ever again. I couldn't even get through this UA-cam vid. Man, he's a grade A onanist ;)

How come? Been months since i last watched rich, forgot lots of stuffs, but from what I can remember I'd have to say booba is probably (hopefully) not a healer main, as elitist as this may sound, it's just way too many rookie, sprout mistakes at higher level duties it's not even funny and just make you go "how do you even mess up that badly?" It's not "boohoo u didn't optimize like an ultimate raider" but "did you boost the job yesterday as your first healer job ever?"
I think i got that impression during the baelsar wall duty when Rich's group wiped multiple times on SLOPPEH.
Booba isn’t to blame here. Direct you dissapointment at the guy who choose to have fun with his friends in game rather then run something he has said he didn’t like numerous times.

Booba doesn’t spam random invites she talks to people first and sets up things for rich (in this case a week in advance cause of stalling) to enhance his experience. She doesn’t ask rich to run stuff at random. So blaming booba here cause you are disappointed that rich doesn’t like playing with trusts rather then with his ffxiv friends is purely misguided.

I thought I subscribed weeks ago. I love your playthrough so far. As a writer myself I am just in love with this game's story
it's nice to know that i'm not the only one that felt that way when i got to that point...
I really wish that gamers would stop with the heard mentality regarding the "Fermi paradox". As it was originally stated, it deals only with the possibility of alien life's existence (mainly because we haven't seen any clear signs). It has nothing to do with the wiping out of civilizations due to the inherent flaws of sanctioned beings. But all it took was some gamer to push the theory. Now one could make an argument that because of these self destructive tendencies that it may have played a part but the actual theory (even though allowing for that possibility) doesn't actually state it. Instead, it points to how life is hard and not only requires work, but some luck as well. Developing the necessary intellect, technology or motivation to make contact has the odds against it.

Just thought of this, but I think that Hydaelyn is based off of the Mother Goddess Sophia from Gnosticism. Emet was my favorite Ascian but it is a toss up for me now between Venat and Emet. Both are such great characters.
Id like to think so, but Sophia is an actual character and primal in ffxiv. She’s part of the Warring Triad storyline in Heavensward. And while i love her characterization as a primal in this game, they make her very very different from Hydaelyn character wise

lol don't feel bad Rich I died a few times the first time I tried to beat her too. For a normal MSQ trial she is pretty tough the first time you see the fight.
First time I did this I was warrior and the other tank didnt want to MT. I ended up getting hit by all those green, blue, red markers and must have had a new record of vulnerability

@@car-keys Final Fantasy (story driven rpg) game FIRST, MMO second. Stated by the director himself. The dev team put all their effort into making the trial able to work with trusts. Even having the scions learn the fight as it goes on. You can only experience msq fresh once. You can only experience the hype of the first trust trial once. The moment you choose to go in with a party of randos who just want attention and to be on a stream you lose that chance. It is disappointing through and through.
@@SambreakerSasaki first off it’s wasn’t a group of randoms. Every person in there is someone who has done things with and for rich on numerous occasions as well as people from the fc. Also the idea was planed for a week and the group literally avoided everyone for over a week to make this happen. It’s wasn’t some sort of selfish group idea. It was decided cause rich doesn’t play like everyone else. Rich prefers this little enjoyments. The amount of salty spergs over the fact a streamer played the way he wanted to is actually crazy and really reflects the toxicity of a group I once fought so hard to defend.

The comments saying “screw booba for making him do it wrong” and “fuck rich for not using trust” that’s just toxic behavior. Rich did it how he wanted to do it and he had a blast. That should be more then enough. Going out of the way to say he was “supposed to use a trust” is trying to force your way of playing on someone else.

You and your raft allegories. If the journey and reaching the destination was pointless, then the usefulness of the raft didn't matter either, regardless of whether you bring it with you or not, ride it, or if the raft even existed. You, the destination, the journey, the record of the journey, starting point, everything you learned during the journey, the river, and the raft will be all gone as they never were to begin with.
The real raft was the friends we made along the way. Which we'd ditch in a heartbeat for a harem of bunnygirls.

The fact that there is a choice to do trust or party finder means there is no right or wrong way to do it
@@car-keys This was only the 2nd time i used the trust system. It made more sense immersion wise.
@@flickmynipsxl7907 Sure, there's no wrong way to do it, but it's notable that this is the one trial in Endwalker (thus far) where the WoL doesn't bust out the Azem Stone in the pre-fight cutscene.
There's also the fact that they go out of their way to show every single scion unsheathing their weapon and (with the exception of the twins) delivering a pre-asskicking one-liner. Choosing to run the trial with 7 randoms completely undercuts this.
There's a reason people are malding over Preach's decision to not run the trial with trust for the 1st time (even if they're out of line): because it can easily be argued that it makes far more narrative sense to fight Hydaelyn with the scions than whoever the Azem Stone drags in.
Personally, I'm of the opinion that Rich did himself a minor disservice by choosing to run with booba, but it's not my place to tell him how to enjoy the game.

Last I watched him he said he'll be back when he's done with the games he's most excited about. i.e Lost Ark, Elden Ring etc etc.

Even believing Asmon would return to ff14 is borderline copium at this point imo, like others have said, and i'm even more skeptical about it when his reddit mods started purging any post mentioning ffxiv, like that one post of a clip of Preach saying it's the best rpg he's ever played, during credit scene, nothing more, still removed after a day. Idk maybe i'm being a ff andy again but that anti-ffxiv crusade is just hella weird.
And everytime he mention it on stream, it's always "later", y'know, keeping it there but never actually getting there, and to be honest the ppl asking that isn't making it any better, cuz it even sounds like my mom nagging me about doing something now, "do your homework yet?" "wash hands?" "mow lawn yet?" "when ffxiv?" etc. same shits and i dont think anybody would love to hear that all the time.
