Replacing a burnt out clutch on a nearly new car... Guess the mileage on this car to have a chance at winning a Bluepoint microscan lll COMPETITION IS NOW CLOSED.
ah quality stuff yea i was thinking even before you got to the slave that must have been white hot that clutch cover and clearly it was take few ton off it steer them towards a automatic one lol have a great day fella
150 miles my guess! we had 1 customer that managed to burn 2 clutches in 20 miles on a Mitsubishi colt elderly lady! She gave up driving after that, that’s why my low guess!
Couldn't begin to guess the mileage Steve, but I remember a lot of years ago my elderly father in law, in his 80's burned out, (incinerated), two clutches out in a year in his new Nissan Sunny. Should have been driving an automatic.
Hello , I have a question about the clutch. I have a mg zs 1.5 manual I've heard in a few forums that the clutch often causes problems. Do you know how long a clutch lasts at MG? Do you have a warranty on the clutch? My car is 5000 km driving .
The life of a clutch depends on how the car is driven, constant slipping or riding the clutch will wear it out quicker. On the ZS the clutch release arm can seize in the lower bush causing a stiff pedal or the pedal to stick down, this will be covered by warranty, any other failure probably wont but it depends on how old the car is. The clutch itself is only covered for 1 year/15,000 miles which ever comes first.
Having changed a Metro with a fried Verto clutch sub 500 (I can't recall the actual), I'm going for 555 miles. Guess "sales" is paying as a good-will gesture...Not.
Not sure exactly but it's a composite woven stuff in an organic resin. Dark coloured asbestos was banned in the '80s and white asbestos was banned in the early '90s. You probably could still get an asbestos based clutch somewhere in the world but certainly not in the UK and no OEM parts would have it
Let them get on with it. You can't educate them mate. Their answer is always the same "I've been driving for 500 years, don't you tell me how to drive"
4261 MILES/KMS is the lowests ive seen. so im hoping its the same here, i posted this than went and looked, holy fuck 124 kms gotr me beat bigtime this person sucks at driving a bolt action

Guessing 475 miles . Never seen clutch that bad .
Base on the visual the engine rans around 600-700 miles.
I just got an idea it's going to be around the 600 mile mark.
So what did the owner do to that clutch? Did you get to speak to them?
I've no idea how they did it. Probably pulling off in the wrong gear or revving the tits off it when pulling off. I didn't speak to them.

What liquid (degreaser) do you use for cleaning?
Brake cleaner
@@pistonbroke thanks. I've been experimenting with different stuff as it seems to be undesired for brake cleaner getting on plastic and rubber.
Getting it on plastic is ok but rubber, yeah, it will swell rubber big time.
