I planned on the ZR2 for a year.... Ended up buying a TRD Pro simply for resale and road presence. I upgraded the suspention slightly and added a little bit larger tires. Sits really nice. ZR2 is just too similar to the Trailboss. Love the TRD and hope to own it the next decade or more!
I’m a bit of a Toyota fanboy but I would go with the Zr2. The Chevy has better off-road specs & slightly better exterior styling, in my Busch-league opinion.
I remember when the first real Tundra truck came out they were very proud that the rear ring and pinion gear was much larger and stronger than anyone other truck. They were very reliable but one of the reasons they did not get good gas mileage. That engineer thinking is gone out of the new ones I suspect.
Tough comparison, but I think I'd take ZR2. The interior looks nicer, it has a V8, and it has tow hooks! Not to mention, it just feels like you get more for roughly the same money. Also, nice haircut Ben!
@willtacoma2ndgen661 you can't say that the tundra is more reliable! It's a completely new design and the dirve train hasn't been proven to be reliable yet. While the silverado with the 10 speed and the simple push Rod v8 has been proven to last.
Wow.. Good job Ben especially in the cold after snow. I would prefer the Chevrolet Silverado, but would take a GMC Sierra. The trucks are so loaded in 2023. I remember trucks could not be this fully optioned out. They are indeed like luxury cars.
The New Tundra looks nice but is getting slammed in build quality.. It's not the Tundra of years past, the New Tundra: Turbos failing, trim cracking (specifically the lower trim on the drivers seat) loose air vents, window seals not sealing, interior rattles, windows rattling on the highway and poor fuel mileage. There are many UA-cam videos showing these issues and Toyota not having fixes yet. Having said all that I have a 2010 Tundra Crewmax, TRD 5.7L that has been flawless. I like the ZR2 but I'll keep my 2nd gen Tundra forever..
Picked ZR2 after 2 raptors and looking at TRD pro….not 100% convinced this Tundra is a well built as last Gen…..a lot of plastic on TRD…..love DSSV feel on light off-roading ….. both interiors are bad ass -Zr2 sport/luxury Toy sport-- center screen on Zr2 “fit” the space…. Neither are a raptor or trx but in real world $$ there is a huge cost difference….. lastly there are not many days left for any of us to buy something like the gas 6.2L V8 (with factory Borla ?!) That was the deciding factor. But it was not an easy decision . 9k and no issues this far
For 1k the diesel is a much better deal. 10,000 miles at 17 mpg =588 gallons@$3.50=$2058 10,000 miles at 27mpg= 370 gal@$4.50=$1666 The diesel is under 1k more than the eco tech so including def costs after 30k miles you are earning money and longevity. I’ve had my 2001 6.6 Duramax for 22 years and it’s time for a new truck. I’ve ordered the TrailBoss with the 3.0
Had a zr2 dealer had to buy it back for the paint peeling and dirt stuck under the clear coat , chipping paint around the hood insert and the engine was shuddering I have a trd pro coming soon!
Normally I would pick the Tundra between these 2. But now I would pick the Chevy as I'm a V-8 type of guy when it comes to a full sized gas powered truck. Toyota messed up in making the Tundra a tt V6. I currently own a 2020 TRD PRO and would never trade it for this Chevy nor the New Tundra.
ZR2 definitely. The Toyota is ugly up front but it does have an excellent interior its just I’ve seen quite a few people besides your channel reviewing them and seem like they had a lot of issues. Heated steering wheel and seats not getting warm enough. Some had mechanical issues too . I expected better from such a solid vehicle manufacturer. I’m sure they will hash things out for the next year. But Chevy wins this one.
Japanese cars are always superior in terms of reliability, quality, endurance and patience. Imagine that we had a Hilux pickup at home, the mileage reached one million and two hundred thousand kilometers, and it did not record a single problem, while I had a Ford Super Duty F350 V10 cylinder more than twice. One year and not many electrical holidays other than the bad experience of Silverado and size. 3500 V8 is one of the worst pick-ups, as well as the Dodge Ram. We had a very bad experience with American cars, and I advise anyone who sees my comment not to buy any American car, and I advise you to buy Japanese Toyota cars in high-quality cars. I now own a Lexus 570, one of the best cars in the world, the Tundra, although Although it is a smaller engine and a turbo, but Toyota remains only, then it is practical. Through my experience with 16 American 🚗 cars, I concluded that American cars after 50,000 km begin to have problems. My personal opinion is that even Chinese cars are better than them, and this is our experience in the Gulf.
Marhaba. I had Toyota's in the past and they are reliable, but this new generation Tundra has some work to do. Add the fact it's the same price as the ZR2 and lacks so many features, it's just not a smart buy.
@@ryankunkel8247 It is true that the Tundra made a mistake in converting the engine to a turbo and then to a hybrid engine. Unfortunately, the Tundra and the Sequoia began to lose their quality and made a mistake until they stopped the naturally aspirated V8 engines.
This new Tundra is not enjoying the same quality as previous generations. Lots of videos on issues including failing turbos, interior trim breaking, mismatched panels, seats cracking, etc.
I was going to buy my 5th Tundra but they quit making the v-8’s so I bought a Power Wagon and I’m very happy with it, I’m glad things worked out the way they did.
I will never buy any American junk for any amount in my life. American junk depreciate more than any other make. The only thing American car has better than any othe make is the technology but they are reliable. Toyota Tundra all the way baby.

would you really use the features of the ZR2 and would you enjoy paying V8 gas all the time
@@legion1630 I don't care about the cost of fuel.
But the zr2 is not as reliable as the Toyota Tundra and in the long term tundra will be worth more than the zr2.
@@legion1630 if you can afford a $100,00 truck I don’t think gas money is a problem.

Only Toyota, choose the Toyota Tundra, quality and practicality

Hopefully, the ZR2 will get the baby Duramax soon.
After I watched all your videos of the ZR2 I bought one
Give me the Chevy because unlike the tundra it’s actually competitive in every way
Chevrolet Silverado zr2 I it so much. Toyota built a awesome truck for 2023 like it

Bought one of the last 21s for this very reasons. A naturally aspirated v-8 is hard to beat. Love my gen 2 tundras!

Good job! Good looking trucks... it comes down to brand preference. I've owned my Toyota Tundra for years (265K miles). It starts every time.
Deal breaker for the zr2 is the 24 gallon tank.
The lockers make the ZR2 the winner.

I did not expect the v6 3.5tt havind such a deep start and idle vs the 6.2 v8 🔥✌️

Has anyone else ever had brightly-colored seats/interiors? When I did they did not age well at all. Maybe they’re better made now.

Sat in a new Tundra and all I can say is that I am disappointed. Everything feels so cheap and flimsy.
I sat in the new trd pro and it feels amazing, very cool vehicle
ZR2 for sure!
The new tundras look small for some reason. Almost like a Tacoma. The front ends too are kind of goofy. Chevys look amazing.
You can go with hybrid or non hybrid on the tundra
ZR2
Zr2
Despite the issues theyre having i would go with the Tundra hands down.
Is someone weather testing the all season floor mats🤔😂
Just got your car buying program, is there a way to download it?

GM trucks have had so many major problems I would not consider buying another one. Ever.
Great video
The Tundra just looks long cuz it needs to sit higher. The chevy looks better

Chevy is very ugly from the front
GM actually using truck tires. Toyota said, naw to capable tires and tow hooks for the off road package.. lol wat
3 things I pray for that will never happen
-world peace
-end world hunger
-Toyota to make a vehicle without a hideous front end.
Reliability reliabilty. Toyota all the way
Lets be honest tundra is more reliable better warranty but zr2 looks nice but prepared to spend$ more later.
Trd pro for the looks

I pick TRD Pro , you didn’t mention reliability & dependability that Toyota is well known for.

@E K i saw a video of a loose rear end issue too lol

ZR2!
After the end of the manufacturer's warranty, the Toyota would be the one I would want!
Normally I would agree but Toyota spends so much less on DeV I wonder how the new drivetrain will perform
Tundra will lasts longer in the long run 👌
With all else being equal, the company that will not integrate tow hooks, after all these years, despite the cries of my people. Nay!
Toyota Tundra no contest

I’ve taken a zr2 off-road
