Jenny, I tried and this was really good. However, I didn't staple the bag since it's not good to have metal in the microwave. I folded my bag and it came out yummy.

Making kettle corn right now. I used tape to hold the bag closed and I put it in the microwave for 2 min, 45 seconds.

The staples don't spark in the microwave. I make all my popcorn this way all the time. Look at my other microwave popcorn video and you'll see the popcorn actually popping in my microwave with staples.
I'm going to need about 5 more bags of that, my ideal serving. All mine!

i think the 2 staples are fine... people put tea bags and many have a staple in them. Have not heard any disasters from the tea staples.
But they are in water. Not the same thing.
I wish I could remember. If I can find the receipt or if it comes to me, I will let you know. I get a lot of things at Pier One and World Market but I'm so sorry I can't say for sure.

Jenny Can Cook tape works OK in the microwave? I mean nothing will happen to it? Also I think a combo of brown sugar and cinnamon would be really good! Or b-sugar and pumpkin spice!
andrea wheeler 4 months late, but it won't arc as long as you don't really do more than 2 staples and MAKE SURE the bag won't touch the sides of your microwave as the bag spins around. Then you'll end up blowing the nuker up =/

Staples are completely fine. This is a common case of people believing things they are told without thinking. All the staples do is reflect (very few) microwaves, with no effect. It only gets problematic with metal objects that have large surfaces, because they absorb some of the microwaves, which results in them heating up considerably and/or sparking, which may ultimately set your food on fire. *The microwave itself takes no damage from this.* What would actually damage your microwave is the flames that may break out due to people not knowing what they are doing.
Great recipe! But wouldn't the bag catch on fire because of the metal staples...?
What kind of staples or microwave do u use? If I put metal staple in a paper bag and put it in my microwave, it will spark on the staples and set the bag on fire in just seconds.
My guess is that you haven't tried. Just because it happened in your imagination, doesn't mean it actually happened
Is that a lot of sugar?
