I have discovered that the trick to keeping the moisture that gets generated when you have a lid on and ends up collecting on the underside of the lid and dripping into the pot is to use a splash guard instead of a lid. That way the steam can escape while the kernels don’t pop out of the pot.
Popcorn: 1.5 cups pop Corn 2-3 TBS oil Heat pot until kernels start to pop, put on lid. Turn off heat when kernels begin to slow down. Caramel: I cup butter 1 cup honey 1 cup sweetener (sugar) Melt and bring to a Low boil for 5 minutes Turn off heat. Add: 1 tsp vanilla 1 tsp salt 1 tsp baking soda Stir. Coat popped corn with Caramel. Bake on parchment lined tray at 275-300* for 20-30 min
Palmyra palm sugar, an ideal sweetener for this recipe, is unrefined and derived from flower sap. Hand-harvested at 80 feet above the ground, it undergoes minimal processing in small batches, exuding a delightful natural caramel fragrance.
I believe you can appreciate this …. My mother would always render the lard when we would harvest a pig. My dad insisted on using a tablespoon of lard as the fat when making his stove top popcorn. Yes it had an usual flavor, but he loved it. thank you for stirring a lovely memory. 🧡🍿🤎
It’s wild that you would share this recipe- over the weekend I was going through my moms recipe box (she passed away last fall) and found a recipe for caramel corn popcorn and popcorn crunch (butter, honey, nuts & popcorn) I planned to try both this fall and now I am even more inspired to!
This turned out so dang delicious! Thanks for sharing, Shaye! I’m so happy to have an (almost) guilt free recipe for caramel corn! It really was so easy & I even had some caramel left to save for our morning coffee. YUM!
I swear you get prettier w each video. Love, contentment, productivity, accomplishment. These are written all over your face. Bravo! I’ve been watching for a few years. ✌🏼🫶🏼🌾
I love popcorn! However after cracking a back tooth on a kernel that cost me a tooth removal I now basically sieve the unpopped kernels out of the bowl and am very cautious about eating one of my favorite snacks. This looks like a delicious treat.
My mom always shook the bowl of popcorn carefully removing the popped kernels leaving the unpopped in the bottom to throw away before adding the caramel.
Stirring is completely unnecessary in cooking stovetop popcorn. I grew up with the stir and shake method but discovered as an adult that it was not needed. It pops perfect every time!
I will try your recipe. Looks scrumptious. I make popcorn in pans from 3 qt - Dutch oven size, depending on how much I want. But I never stir it. Just pour oil to generously cover the bottom of the pan, add popcorn to cover the bottom in a single layer, and slap on the lid. Turn on the heat and when the popping starts begin moving the pan back and forth on the burner. Easy peasy!
Loved the baking tip. I didn't know that. I learned a great tip to make perfect popcorn. After you pour the oil drop 3 kernels and let the oil heat up. When the 3 kernels pop you are good to go. The oil is in a perfect temperture. It will pop every single kernel and you don't need to stir It. Just leave them there on low heat. When they start to not pop as fast I Just raise the pot a little bit with ny hands to avoid burning and It pops the last few ones.
Oh I’m so excited for this! I have grown up with my mom making amazing caramel corn as her speciality, but it calls for Karo syrup. I haven’t brought myself to try a natural version yet, because I was afraid to be disappointed. But I’m ready to try! I’ve missed it ❤️
Made this for the family while we carved our pumpkins and I think this may be a new tradition. Came out perfect and I usually have the worst luck making caramel.
This immediately brought long ago memories of my mother making this with molasses. We were poor and we thought we had went to heaven! Thanks for this video.
Hi Shaye Was trying to figure out what to bring to work out together last night my brother is in town. Lo and behold watched your video and made a big batch what a great recipe! The honey really made all the difference. Everyone loved it. Could hardly wait for it to cool off before I tried it! Thank you so much
This looks so good! Can't really to try it out. When my mom made caramel corn, she'd pour the caramel over the popcorn in a new paper bag (she'd grab an extra from the grocery store but leave it empty to keep it clean) and coat the popcorn by folding the top of the bag over and shaking it. It coats evenly and when you're done you can throw away the bag. :)
This looks delicious 😋 I cannot wait to try it. I'm thrilled that there isn't any milk in it because I can't have any dairy. Thank you so much for sharing ❤️
Every year around this time my mom would make homemade caramel popcorn balls, and we’d wrap them in paper and eat them as a treat. I was obsessed. I can’t wait to try this recipe!!
Just made this and my husband and kiddos love it! Used dairy free spread (Olivani) for dairy allergies and brown sugar as my sweetener and still came out great. Thank you for sharing 😁
I'm pretty sure once baking soda was mentioned, then twice you said baking powder ....I have made Caramel before and I used baking soda....it looks delicious
You must’ve read my mind Shaye! I was just thinking of this the other day and how I’m gonna miss making caramel popcorn because I used to use nasty corn syrup in my caramel sauce! Thank you so much for this, I will be making it soon! ❤️❤️
This stuff was amazing! We did half the caramel because we had other sweets that day and it still had plenty of gooey sweetness. We also added some peanuts. I will probably only make it for a crowd in the future because I ate way too much 🤷♀️😆
I love seeing your kiddos join in💜 We make popcorn a lot. Thanks for the new recipe to try! My son is obsessed with caramel right now. Perfect for fall!
You do such a great job explaining recipes and other homestead things. You remind me of Parisian Farm Girl - Anyway, I did not know popcorn had to be stirred and temp lowered to low so popcorn does not burn. I love your homestead- it’s so cozy and unique. Love your copper holder, too. ❤🤍
It's hard to imagine sweet popcorn as a dessert, but more of a snack! The quality of this video was ok; I wish the cameras were closer to show the color change and such.
This looks delicious! I was wondering if you could explain more in-depth about the sugar that you use. I need to stay away from white processed sugar and have been looking for an alternative. Thanks again for sharing with us.
I always said caramel. Like care’-a-mul From Texas. I think different parts of the country all pronounce it a little differently. Its all delish no matter how you say it.

Made this for a movie afternoon with the family. Huge hit! Thanks Shae ❤️

I learned the three kernels and then pour in popcorn one layer only and then shake it while it pops on the stove.
That's how we used to pop corn for Friday night movies at home. Start with 3 kernels. This was back in the 1960's.
This would make a thoughtful and yummy gift in a cute bag at Christmas!

Made it and it was good! I used baking soda, as that is what most caramel corn recipes call for.
At first she said baking soda. Then when she added it she said baking powder. I’m sure she meant soda.

You are a vey bad influence! I love it! New sub here. YUM!!!! I always wondered how they got crispy~ Thank you for the instruction!
I’m looking forward to trying this.
My favorite task as a kid was to make popcorn in the pot! Loved it!
I’m going 5oo make this for my nephews and kids for St. Nicholas eve. Thank you!
Oh yum!! We love popcorn too, will definitely give this a try. If you’re intimidated by popping corn on the stove, try a whirly pop!
We LOVE homemade popcorn, and make it every Friday night, but we've never made caramel popcorn. I'm so doing this. YUM!!!
As far as the butter, was that an 8 oz block? You cut it in half, so I'm wondering if it's a 1/2 cup or whole. Of course, the more the better! Thanks.
@@sacredmommyhood I think she said a cup of butter.
Just made this and my husband and kiddos love it! Used dairy free spread (Olivani) for dairy allergies and brown sugar as my sweetener and still came out great. Thank you for sharing 😁
Popcorn is my favorite snack so I will sure be giving this a try, thank you.

Nothing tastes as good as it used to! I love this .... I add in some cooked bacon bits and make them into balls. YUM
Try adding some fresh chopped rosemary as you stir. It Is amazing I also add rosemary when I Caramelize nuts
I made this last night (1/4 of the recipe) and I used ghee - it was so amazing!!! Thank you ❤

This looks so delish!
This looks delicious! I was wondering if you could explain more in-depth about the sugar that you use. I need to stay away from white processed sugar and have been looking for an alternative. Thanks again for sharing with us.
Just dried sugarcane...also called rapadura or sucanat 😋
I use coconut oil for popcorn. Its lighter.... especially when making a food that has a sweet profile.
Can you use just honey? Or maybe honey and molasses?
Was it supposed to be baking Powder? I’ve only seen baking soda used.
can you add nuts? and if so when would you add?
Baking is the best.
Yum, looks delicious🥰
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!!!!!!
Is regular white cane sugar ok?
Yummy 😋
I think you said baking soda at first but then used baking powder. Does it matter which?
Definitely soda
Unrealistic Martha Stewart.
Nobody has those ingredients in the real world.
Impressive Fantasy.👍
Yummmm
I would love recipe; can you share the recipe? I don’t see it in any of the attachments below
Where do I buy this sugar?
Yummmmmm!!

Where can i get a printed recipe?
Is there a written recipe anywhere
Is it baking soda or baking powder? you said both at different stages of the recipe
Wondering the same :)
Wondering the same!
The container she is pouring from in the video is Baking Powder. I have the same one.
She used the baking powder container.
Most recipes call for baking soda, I think.
Yummy, Thanks 🐦🎃🍁.

I actually don't bake mine. I like it better gooey!
Why do Americans pronounce it “carmel”. It’s CA-RA-MEL. There’s another “A” in there..
Carmel is a woman’s name lol
It kills me 😆
