    Actually, being a comic book artist and having spent so much time alone with my drawing board, bottle of ink and comic books has prepared me for this nicely. The world is now in "my" space, so welcome and don't worry, sometime you will be back to your "normal!" Love you all, Stay Safe!!

    Just like power sprints, I have a personal practice called power hours. It's the most time of the day where I'm I can be 1000% in, and I pour the most challenging brain work into those hours. It's usually 1.5 to 2hr window for me where I do a difficult design planning task or make a difficult client call. It's been so effective for me to curb outcomes that waste my time since my body and mind is most awake (usually 8.30am to 10:30am). It's been pretty effective esp when you identify yours! I'm a morning person, but night owls seem to have longer with these times lol

      Matthew Encina thank you! I’m still working on the trying to make up for the lost time. Being disable isn’t a choice. I fall into the doing too much when able which can add to the chronic fatigue. How would you call that? Overworking because you want to take advantage of the moments you feel good? What would be your advice? Clock time and stick to it no matter what? Not taking in consideration the unknown factor of when the body would put me down? Stay safe out there!

      @@MatthewEncina Thank you for your kind word. I realize speaking about it that it has to do with two of my feelings one the fear regarding the unknown factor if tomorrow is going to be a feel good day or a feel bad day and the other frustration. It really helps discussing about this. I'm feeling delighted!

    Currently listening to Robert Greene's 'The Laws Of Human Nature' Had to re-listen to the first 1hr46mins, and as I get to the end (over 28hrs with 2 hours 30mins left), I plan to re-listen to the whole book again, I believe this book is that important. So yes, I recommend it.

    I have been work from home for 5 years before . And it works very well for me . But I found this Coronavirus has been challenging is because I’m a single mom and my kid’s school has changed to home school . So my creative time has to be share to her school works , there has more tasks need to be done that frustrated me 😨 I feel less personal time than before and I can’t even find 30 mins without distractions. Wish there has a tip can help single parent still keep their work and also take care of kid at same time 🙂

      @@MatthewEncina So much love and respect for stylists and barbers right now and my thoughts are with them. Tough times for those who can't practice their crafts at distance.
      FWIW I was thinking 'Did Matthew just get a haircut? How did he do that?' while I was watching this.
      I must have just made it under the wire on the clippers (for better or worse LOL).
      Personally I'm terrified to mess with the top. I just ordered an ingenious thing called Combpal (not here yet, but shipped right away). Hard to explain - it's a comb with attachments to keep it spaced exact distances from your head for foolproof scissor over comb work. We'll see LOL.

    Isn't it kind of interesting how we can apply certain aspects of this video to our working from home lives but not to when we work out of an office? It's a strange dichotomy of what is expected of us in a professional setting versus our home offices. I personally feel much more productive and don't feel like I have self imposed sanctions on when or when not to do things. If I want to take a break and rest like Matthew says I do so. If I want to jump online and play a quick Call of Duty match I can do that too but I'm still be productive with my work. I think there's a lot business's can learn from this time in our lives that prove how valuable a work life balance that takes place outside of a traditional office space can really be to the overall health and well being of their employees.

    OFFTOPIC: Hi Matt, I'm a fan. Love your voice, could you please use a more natural speed? (right now you're in meditation realms at 0.60 x and it doens't sound calmed, it sounds slow)

    Oh man, Mr. Ben Burns says we should focus on tasks, not time spent, but Dr. Barbara Oakley recommends you should focus on process, not product, which is the exact opposite of what Mr. Burns said! Who should I listen to?

    • @thefutur
      @thefutur  4 роки тому +1

      neither. focus on outcomes. effort doesn't matter. tasks do not matter. deliverables don't mater. results matter.
