You’re welcome man! I think someone with a build like yours being impressed by a stock truck says a lot about what Toyota has done with the next generation of trucks. Looking forward to your video!
Congrats! I just couldn't stomach a truck with a 4-cylinder turbo hybrid, low payload, and low in-cab storage (due to battery under rear seat), for over $65K... so I cancelled my order. I was also concerned about the reports of the transmission overheating, and I didn't really like the gurgling sound from the high intake "snorkel." I'll give this one a couple of years to mature and check again.
Thank you for showing us the Dog. She is precious and that was actually quite an emotional moment within the video. I wish Her many more years with the wind in Her face.
Your dad is a master craftsman and should absolutely start his own channel. I love watching and learning woodworking and all things construction related. I’m a good handyman, but if I had his talent, I’d be filming and sharing content. Great video and congratulations on your new ride.
Been watching your channel for a long time. It’s SOOO awesome to see it grow, and allow you to work towards this new rig. It was great to see how excited you were picking it up!!!
Congrats on the new truck. It such a great feeling. We waited months to get our 5th Gen 4Runner (because we were moving back from Japan) and the day felt like it would never come. I totally know the surreal feeling.
Good Practice is to change your oil after 1500 miles int he brand new car. Also look into Motul V300 5W30 Best oil ever for the Turbo engines. This will make your engine run smoother for longer, its one of the proper synthetic oils.
First off, Powerstop brakes have specific break-in instructions that involve braking hard and heating them up properly. I'm not saying it's the same as a factory Tacoma, but some do involve getting them to heat up and then cool down because of different pad composition. Also, make sure you change the oil in that thing as soon as you get those 1200 miles in it.
@@IndependenceOverland It's crazy the manufacture doesn't tell people to do this. Maybe not as needed on newer engines but I certainly wouldn't take the chance if I was planning on keeping a vehicle 150k+ miles.
Congratulations on your Trailhunter! We truly appreciate your kind words and allowing us the opportunity to assist you. We can't wait to see the fun you have with this incredible Tacoma!
Congratulations! it's awesome to see you both so excited, and reaching this goal! I can't wait to see the build process, but a trailhunter needs what? LOL! I'm aspiring to a trailhunter 4runner in the next few years, but in the mean time I'm following your advice from previous to refresh my '13-4runner and currently building it as a trail hunter as I'm gonna live in it for retirement! :) I hope you avoided all Interstate Highways to keep those revs changing!
Just had the Fj out this past weekend! I will have plenty of both trucks in travel content this fall! Theres a lot to love about that old blue classic!
Bud, it's not just a truck, I get the big deal. This trailhunter is my dream truck. I'm working on it, I have it preorder. for some reason, I have no word on it
Sweet man! I LOVE that color. Seeing the new Tacomas with it is gonna make me envious for sure. I’ll have another video out soon on the first 7000 miles of the truck. It’s been awesome though!
That’s my truck. I put money down six months ago and I’m still waiting. Congratulations. That’s exactly the color I wanted, but you should’ve got the 6 foot bed…
I wanted a 6 foot, but the wheel base is insane compared to the last generation Tacoma. In my opinion, if you want to go some of the places I have gone with the long bed model then it needs 37” minimum now. For easy stuff it would do alright on 35s. But it’s got 7” more wheelbase than the gladiator in the long bed and that’s just too much.
Most channels I see they seem to have infinite budgets and build a vehicle every other week to show off new gear and new items.... and don't get me wrong, i hope you get there, But I'm very excited to see a more realistic and thoughtful approach to this from you that I know you'll have. Congrats, this is huge.
Well I have been saving for a long time for this. So this build is going to probably come off to people like I have an infinite budget, which is certainly not the case! But if I’m going to build a truck, I’m going to do it in an epic way. I’m going to be making some big moves with it by the end of the year, and then just dialing it in and using it for new travel content. This truck will be around for years on this channel.
I remember bubbling over with anticipation when after 33 weeks my Jeep came in. You had dang near double the wait! So awesome and so excited for you. Your excitement and appreciation for the moment comes through in the video.👍🙌

I’ve only seen a couple of your videos so far, but I’m excited for you to pull this off! I’m just starting to save up for a nice truck like this myself, but it’s definitely going to be a long time before I get there. I’ll have to keep watching your videos while I wait!
Any idea what the water fording depth is given all the electronics? I’m not sure if Toyoya will just be silent on that because it would be less than outgoing model.
Congrats on the new vehicle - can’t wait to see your build! Interesting comments about the brakes - I just did mine with the Powerstop brand. Their instructions were to to do 5 hard 40mph to 10mph brake events immediately followed by 5 medium 35mph to 5mph events followed by at least 5 minutes without any braking events to allow them to cool. Glad to see Blue get her window🤗
@@IndependenceOverland Showed my wife the video last night - she loves the look and color and asked if I was going to trade in our 2020 Taco? I have spent 4 years building our Taco to fit our use. The answer is no, and I too spent a year (2019) communicating with and discussing why Toyota USA stopped building a vehicle for the off-road user, their answer back then was their business model couldn't support a vehicle for the 5% that they estimated went off-road. Funning how times have changed - looking forward to how you find the Taco meeting your use/style with the stock components. We did speak briefly at PNW and you two were excited to make the journey after the show. Thank you for sharing your insights and honest reviews - truly appreciate the candid approach.
Thanks a lot to the car dealer to help you! I love the Truck and I was looking forward to get one but the price and the markup was a no no for me. I now ended up ordering the Chevrolet ZR2 (same/ similar color) and I think that was not a bad bet as well :) congratulation on your new ride!

Congrats on your new Trailhunter, my best friend in California got a new Taco last year and didn't want to wait for the new model which i think he would've preferred over the 2023 in most aspects, hindsight is 2020 as they say , here in Canada dealers are marking them up and won't even take orders according to a friend of mine here who wants one, he wants basic and nothing more id just how he's always rolled and no dealer here wants to accommodate him or take his money, so he will have to travel either to the west coaster east to Toronto or Montreal which is sad and all he wants to do is sit down and order a truck without trying to sold extras or upgraded , he understands he needs to be flexible on colour and willing to pay sticker price and not be raked over the coals, i did spend near 9 years in the industry some years back when you'd be able to order a vehicle to a pretty close extent to what you wanted, now it has turned into a task and is no longer the fun anticipated adventure it use to be, glad you got what you wanted for the right dollars 👍 in the exact colour I'd buy if i could afford one
Mannnn, it's a good thing you didn't get anything before .... Once these new designs came out, did this become your dream truck?! I was getting excited for you guys when you were in the Taxi! and man, is that ever a beautiful truck!! I read a couple comments and I agree with some. Leave it alone for a while. People never push any of these brands when right out of the box they can do almost anything... Well, what us 'Explorers' do. Most people never get even close to their capabilities stock, and they do a lot of unnecessary performance mods. Just a good set of tires and wheels (I saw the Short) then just do the fun stuff (mods). Super stoked for you guys... And I'm only two minutes in!!

Nice truck. I just got the sport in the same color. Paid a lot less than you did though because it has a lot less features but still comes standard with a lot of things. Don't plan to modify mine any. I'm just a older guy that wanted something tight to drive. I have a 2013 that almost has 300,000 mi on it. So I'm pretty happy with Toyota. Good luck on whatever you do. Souping it up.
That’s wild you had to travel so far I just looked up a Trailhunter Tacoma an there is one located an hour away and a few more within a 50 mile radius 😅
We are currently driving home to Colorado from Ohio in our Trailhunter. They are all over the place if you’re just looking online. If you call the dealership, it’s pre-sold. There’s one coming in at Toyota in Boulder, but they have no ETA for arrival and they were asking $10,000 over MSRP. I’m sure it’s pre-sold at this point though
Litterally just got home from a trip from Montana back home in SoCal. 16 hour drive and I feel altered. But will still watch this. In sleep dep we trust lol
Man that truck looks BEAUTIFUL!! Something that caught my eye was how the spare isnt centered under the truck 😅. Or it seemed that way. If its not centered it'll for sure drive me nuts whenever I get mine and see that 😅
As nice as the styling is, the engine option is a not really what I would want. Will be interesting what you will change. The rear bumper seems solid, the front still has too much plastic
I disagree with them. I am used to my Fj which rides like a dump truck, but even my wife thinks the TH rides very nice in the highway and she is used to driving a 2019 Rav4.

Congrats on your new Tacoma TH! Hope you love it!
Oh man I do, it’s pretty sweet!
Thanks man and congrats on the truck! Driving it around is a treat!
No mark ups? Cool!!! They’re one of the good guys!
💯
good luck with that transmission! fingers crossed.
Haha thanks! I’m sure they will sink a spankin new one in if it blows up 😀
Oh, and hell yeah your dad should make a channel!!! Or at the very least a full tour of the place!
Like everyone here, I'm so happy for you. I get mine at the end of August so I'll be watching closely for anything you have to say.
It’ll be here before you know it man!
It's an absolute beauty.
Thanks man!
That’s wild you had to travel so far I just looked up a Trailhunter Tacoma an there is one located an hour away and a few more within a 50 mile radius 😅
I can almost guarantee is presold. They are hard to find.
I’m sure it’s pre-sold at this point though
man im excited for this build, i have a 24 trd off road im slowly modding
Awesome content. I can't wait to see future adventures!
Congrats bro. Great content. Def got a new sub from me. Cant wait to see where this beautiful truck takes you.
Congrats! What a solid truck!
Does this model come with bump stops?
Was the roof rack extra? I was planning on taking of the bed rack for an AluCab Contour Canopy and a Westcott roof rack..
Yeah, it was 1200 bucks and I couldn’t remove it from the allocation. Not all TH models come with it.
Litterally just got home from a trip from Montana back home in SoCal. 16 hour drive and I feel altered. But will still watch this. In sleep dep we trust lol
Your awesome! Get some sleep! 🙏
Man that truck looks BEAUTIFUL!! Something that caught my eye was how the spare isnt centered under the truck 😅. Or it seemed that way. If its not centered it'll for sure drive me nuts whenever I get mine and see that 😅
It is not dead center, that’s for sure.

I’m looking forward to the new build!💪🏻💪🏻 Congrats!
Congrats! Great looking truck. Will be fun to watch what you do to it 🙂
Thanks for watching man! This thing is gonna get good!
Sweet video just got word that my TRD Pro will be rdy for pick up Monday I also have a 15 hr drive from Arizona back to Denver.
Vary your RPMS! Dont use cruise control, and drive different speeds. Stoked for you, they drive incredibly nicely!
Will do! Glad I stumbled upon this vid before picking it up@@IndependenceOverland
As nice as the styling is, the engine option is a not really what I would want. Will be interesting what you will change. The rear bumper seems solid, the front still has too much plastic
How is the on road suspension comfort? I've seen that some other reviewers said that it's pretty stiff on the TH
I disagree with them. I am used to my Fj which rides like a dump truck, but even my wife thinks the TH rides very nice in the highway and she is used to driving a 2019 Rav4.
Nice truck, Tacoma life.
Can you get the truck without the molly panels and roof rack?
The weird bed bar thing with the molle panels is standard on the Trailhunter. I will absolutely be removing mine.
Congrats 🎊 man beautiful truck. I own a 24 Taco 🌮 love it
Glad to hear they had no markup. Nice truck!
Me too, or I was gonna fly back home!
