  • We chose this massive exposed bed rock to use for a building site for our cabin, it has a big drop off on the one side. We had a few smaller trees to remove prior to being able to start building. Obviously with 160 acres of trees we decided to build a log cabin as its the most fitting to the land scape. Follow along on our journey as we go from start to finish.

      Thankyou! Character building is how we look at it! Alot better they learn life skills from a yougue age vs being glued to a TV.

      Thankyou she's a pup still so she is hyper but is fun, our older lady is not liking the 1/2 mile each way walk to the site so she's been staying out of videos lately for the most part.

      Thankyou! it will be an interesting journey, my experience is some standard stick framing and modern construction so it will be a learning experience to work with natural solid logs.

    Anything involving a chainsaw or a wood auger and dowel immediately grabs my attention, so let's see whatchu' got for us. Be safe and most importantly, just have fun !

      Thankyou, I did have a file a few feet away I always carry it with me when cutting anything as you never know. Lucky for the chain it is junk anyway so it didn't get overly hurt atleast not worse. I anticipated more rock axidents then we actually had. The kids are really good at helping as we have been living the life style well before we ever created a channel so they have adapted to helping with projects, they really are excited to start this one but are also glad to be done cutting the trail into as we spent the week before cutting and dragging brush.

      @@offgridandunorganized Awesome mother nature & something that everyone enjoys, I've been off grid 11 years but only started my channel a couple years ago sharing what i have learned so one day it might help someone else :) & of course some road trips & fishing :))

      That's awesome! I will have to check out your channel! Sure is a rewarding life style but can be hard to share in videos so much is missing from the real experience.

    Exciting! Have you moved the location full time now? How long do you think it will take to build the cabin?

      We are full time as os July 1st finally!!! And a time frame I really do not know I have never done anything to this extent with logs before only standard stick frame/ pole bar style buildings so the log will be completly new so I am not able to estimate a time frame.

      I am sorry about that, there is chapters but what do you mean by subtitles as we don't really talk so there is not much to have in writing, could you please elaborate on what you would desire?

    Y'alls saw is dull.

    • @offgridandunorganized
      @offgridandunorganized  Місяць тому

      You are right! Really dull. Cutting into the moss I hit the odd rock and that dulled it alot. The chain is about garbage from clearing the trail in so I can only get it so sharp. I have also been filing it at a shallower angle then I normally do as I found it holds an edge longer but at the trade off of slower cut speed, I need a new chain for any real work and then keep this one for the dirty work.
