very good point, i think it’s different for everyone though personally. having them all in one place for me makes it way easier to just decide “i want to play some mario 64 now” and do it. i totally get that view point though, got to be careful with how many you add!! :D
@@2mista Yeah, there is alot of choice paralysis, especially when you get a big rompack. Thats why I prefer just having a few games im interested in, and if i want in the future, i can always get more.
You should know emulating doesnt have to take away the pleasure of a physical collection actually there are several adapters that make reading roms directly from original hardware possible and even convenient. pcsx2 famously has a disc drive plugin you can use with a regular hot dog disc drive so you can emulate your games in glorious 1080p right off your disc. ive been revisiting Kengo and God of War and Battlefront 2 and i havent had to actually rip any of them. ps1 strangely is more dicey but you can just just rip an image of the disc and that works fine. ps3 demands bluray hardware but you can rip them ezpz too with the right drive. the one you need for that is available, isnt too expensive and it makes bluray movies on your machine possible too. not to mention that same drive will also do ps4 rips, so the very ps4 emulation gets good, its off to the races. Long live emulation! huzzah! lovely video btw, sign me up for more.
I stumbled upon your video and loved it ! Even though I know emulation, it's a neat introduction to newbies ! Your editing is top notch, all of the visual gags works really well ! You have a new subscriber 😊😊
So I recently modded my gamecube, 3ds and vita to be able to play every rom on their respective systems. You know how many games I played emulated on them since? 0...realised that having that much choice (paralysis analysis) and that easy access to them killed the joy of gaming and the whole experience for me. So i've since gone back to collecting physical Gamecube games and then using the emulator only for games I own as a way to preserve the discs. For me it turned out the hunting for games I want in stores/ebay etc. finding them complete in box, haggling the prices and finally sliding them into my shelf in alphabetical order next to my other games was a huge part of the whole gaming process for me. But maybe its cause I am an older generation who grew up without digital or emulation as a real option, I still miss going to blockbusters once a week and renting a game from a selection of like 10 and only having 3 days to complete it before having to return it. Something about that whole process just made it fun, you discovered games you might never play because that was all they had as a selection, you played the hell out of it for 3 days straight and if you really liked it, you rented it again or bought it as one of your few games a year you were allowed to get xD and then you played it for 5000 hours because you only had 4 games to choose from and it wasn't blockbuster rental night yet! I get the same issue when I look at my steam library nowadays, or any digital library like my 100+ switch collection, I just don't have the feeling of wanting to play any of it...but when I see ratchet and clank or super mario galaxy sat on the shelf, I am instantly drawn to pop them in and give them a few hours of my time again. Theres something, I don't want to say better, but more...connected and complete that way, I feel "like a gamer". The only way I can describe it is, it's like going to play a sport, on a field, in your kit vs playing a sports game on your mobile phone in bed. The both have similar end outcomes (you playing sports) but they just feel so different.
it’s pretty much the opposite for me, ive only ever had 1 or 2 steam games because i’ve never been able to afford it, but having everysingle rayman, startrek, and kirby game all in one place is so awesome but of course you could always buy blank cds and then burn the games onto them. i dunno who has 100+ dollars to spend on original game cds (don’t get me wrong, i eventually want to start collecting them, but it is an expensive hobby)
yet another bruhcodes banger i've been curious about emulation myself, as someone who only ever had an Xbox 360 and 2DS lmfaooo maybe when I get some file space free
I find that buying and owning games gives me more motivation to actually play them. I'm having a blast playing Metal Gear Solid and I don't think the 4th wall breaks would have hit as good if I was emulating it. Something about seeing a game on your wall is fulfilling in a way that a folder full of ROMs isn't. It's the same with owning an album or film physically, it just feels right.
I try to only play 1-3 games at a time (ideally). Life gets in the way if you try to take on too much xD. Yeah, when it comes to Wii and DS some games have downloadable content, and playing them without using emulation or some form of piracy will not give you the full experience, and the Wii also has games like Castlevania Rebirth that are incredibly hard to get since you need to buy a Wii that already has it installed since it doesn't exist in other formats. Nintendo are super bad stewards of their vast game library. I don't feel an issue pirating games nintendo themselves aren't selling or games where nintendo have allowed the full game experience to be lost.
oh for sure. i didn’t mention this in the video but i have a howlongtobeat page set up to track a handful of games that i’m actively playing. otherwise i would just get WAY too overwhelmed with the choice lmao :P
Looking back at 30 years of game collecting over 5000 physical games, remembering the stores and the places visited, finding rare games cheaply and feeling that thrill... It's a lifestyle of accomplishments and memories as games become physical mementos of important life experiences. It is like travelling to visit a priceless work of art in a museum instead of on a computer screen. Live theatre. Love vs. porn. Maybe too dramatic? Just seems like the type of thing a generation misses about the previous one while thinking they have it better.
thanks! i’ve definitely been influenced by Scott but always try to do my own thing, it was definitely more prevalent in my earlier videos but especially recently i’ve been trying to form my own style and step away from his “template.” but i’m very glad you enjoyed!! thanks for watching! :D
Emulation rules, but if you're playing Super Mario 64 on PC, you really should be playing the PC port. There's a bunch of forks, but I recommend Super Mario 64 Plus for the mostly vanilla experience, and Super Mario 64 Co-op Deluxe for online play. Also Ship of Harkinian is wonderful if you like Ocarina of Time. There's even a mod that ports over a lot of the 3DS' visuals. These native PC ports are absolutely my favorite things the gaming community has been doing for a while.
I always wanted to try something like this but i own a pretty barebones/weak hp craptop, is there any low-end game console emulators, here are my specs if you was guessing. CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3500U with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx (8 CPUs), ~ 2.1GHz IGPU: AMD Radeon(TM) Vega 8 Graphics RAM: 8.00GB ram DDR4 VRAM: 2048 MB Monitor Res: 1366x768@60Hz OS: Windows 11 Home 64-bit
I do like the concept of emulation, but I feel it’ll be too easy and not satisfying to have the game you want since it’s pretty (compared to buying lots of money). But I just rather spend money and have it physically.
I enjoyed the video and this isn't hate I just want to give some advice as there's one thing you spoke about at the 7:30 mark which is just incorrect. You stated that you'd need an incredibly beefy pc in order to emulate switch games, this is not true as i can emulate zelda tears of the kingdom at full speed 1440p with a ryzen 5600 and a 1660ti, I can also emulate the same game at native resolution and fps on my galaxy s24 ultra.
it’s through steam rom manager!! you set up the “parsers” to scan your games folder and then it adds them to your library with artwork and everything. super cool, i recommend looking up a tutorial on it if you’re interested :D

nintendo switch emulation isn't that hard. you can just install yuzu, and with like 15-30 MINUTES of optimization, my laptop with an intel core i3 and 8gb of ram with the integrated graphics card intel UHD graphics runs super mario odyssey perfectly fine at 60 fps with chrome with 100 tabs in the background open. yes, i did make the quality 0.5x, no, i did not use another computer than the one with very mid stats from before. basically you can run it 60 fps default settings with a 100$ graphics card and a 400$ cpu and 8-16 gb of ram. you have those stats if you are a gamer come on.
oh man, I like the video but your probably gonna wish you chose to emulate ps2 games for this video instead. definitely dont google nintendo copyright strike , good luck
the problem with emulating is having every game at the tip of your hands gives me less motivation to want to play them
very good point, i think it’s different for everyone though personally. having them all in one place for me makes it way easier to just decide “i want to play some mario 64 now” and do it. i totally get that view point though, got to be careful with how many you add!! :D
@@bruhcodes its more of an overwhelming feeling. Though I agree its very convenient to just boot up a game
100% agree. Though if you have a game you’re really itching to play, it’s simple and easy of a choice.
@@2mista Yeah, there is alot of choice paralysis, especially when you get a big rompack. Thats why I prefer just having a few games im interested in, and if i want in the future, i can always get more.

Because games are so stupidly expensive I see emulation as the best way to play retro games.
Playing 3DS games on an Android/PC with graphics boosted and connected to an Xbox controller is a far superior experience than stock could ever be 👌🏼
tbh that depends on the 3DS game like Mario 3D land is amazing on emulators but other games that need dual screens are not as good as on the DS imo
