Definitely the first condo. Thanks for presenting so many option in your videos. Looking to make the move to Thailand in the future and your videos show me that it's a very viable option. Big fan of the wall test. 😁
Just for reference for anyone not looking for a shoebox ; You can get 150+ m² for 800$ in a central area. It won't be new, there won't be shiny amenities you'll prob never use anyway and it won't be on the 40th floor (usually below 11-15th) but from my own experience people in there tend to be nicer / more chill
Can you please show condos and apartments in the $500-$700 price range please. And something no other creator has done maybe show us some gyms in the city please.
You read my mind. I’ll have some gym related content soon. I’ll take a look at that budget range. These are all directly in the city center so a bit pricier.
I lived in Sukhumvit Soi 24 in 2018, and could recognise your opening scene straight away! A lovely area of BKK. Love the pools in the first and third condos. I was just a bit further down the soi than your second/third condos. Great spot there. Would happily live in all three. Love the space in the older one (60sq m) and that open back area -- had that in the place I was in and it was a great setup.
I’d take #1. It has a couch which is a must and is a good enough size for 1 person. I’d be out and about a lot most of the day. I spent my high school years playing foosball so that tickled my fancy. It’s too bad for my first trip the 3 months isn’t long enough. I think you said some will do 6 months at a little more per month. I’d consider booking 7 months on my next trip and leaving the 4th month to take care of stuff back in Canada before coming back on my second 2 plus 1 month tourist visa. Probably the most I could be away is 9 months a year.. with the max in Thailand at 6 to avoid taxes, unfortunately. Nice vid again!
Yeah I think the smaller condos with the nice amenities are often great for people that first move here... Simple, easy to clean and good common areas to enjoy the luxury feel. Most newcomers tend to spend a lot of time out and about... and then people tend to move on to larger condos once they settle down here a bit. It's possible to rent most condos for 6 months... but that will ultimately come down to each owner and is part of any negotiation. Cheers!
Hi Cal, many thanks for your videos Could you please mention if the condo you overview are pet-friendly. Probably most of them aren’t, but still I believe this is a useful information Or maybe you can make a whole video about how to find a pet-friendly condo or house.
Yes I can add that. Unfortunately these were not pet friendly condos and most aren’t. I’ll do a video with pet friendly condos very soon. I can add it in the information section as well. Cheers
I liked the grounds/amenities of the first one best, but the condo unit of the second was nicer for the fact that I would have space to set up my monitors. It seems like the third one is for the person who needs to hang their hat somewhere but is in reality never home.
That's a sweet spot. There is a lot available. These are all very much in the city center... prices drop quite a bit if you move a bit further out. But if you're new in Bangkok, I recommend the city center while you get adjusted to life here. Cheers
heads up for anyone considering park origin 24, you will hear EVERYTHING going on in your neighboring units. i lived there last year for 5 months and became very disenchanted with the frequent airbnb-ers coming through along with their overnight "guests".
Thanks for the insight. Airbnb condos are a big problem. I always recommend doing a quick check on Airbnb to see if there are a lot of listings for a condo before signing a lease. Cheers
Saw no indication in the gym at 2:00 of any free weights except for some lightweight dumbbells. Did it have a squat rack, bench press, lat pull down, calf machines, and an EZ curl bar?
Nope. Definitely wasn't up to scratch when it comes to a proper bodybuilding gym. Unfortunately quite few newer condos are. Most go for a fancy machine setup. Older condos can have much better rugged gyms.
Nice video Cal. #2 is a no brainer at this price range. I heard that Thais can rent properties at cheaper prices (vs Farangs). Do you know if there’s any truth to this? Thank you.
Thanks for the kind words. I liked the size in 2 as well. I haven't seen different pricing for foreigners and Thai people. I don't think it's the norm. I've actually met Thai people that were paying more for a nearly identical condo in the same building as me because they didn't negotiate.
The first and last condos are vastly overpriced basically paying half the amount for the location close to Asok which is exactly where I would not want to be. Number 2 is expensive but the best for the money and I would consider it even though it's in a tourist area. The size seems nice although I would worry about that AC unit. The average 34 sq meter condo in BKK runs 15,000-18,000 baht for those wondering. If you rent one of these places close to the center and pay 30K it's double what most are paying. I pay 17K and live in a fantastic condo 3 minutes from the BTS. plenty of street food nearby.
I think it just depends on preference. Personally I like the city center areas, but I know plenty of people that also prefer less central areas. I think for newcomers it can be ideal to be in a central location though as it can make the adjustment to life here easier. Just my take though. I agree that you’ll definitely get cheaper prices once you move out of the center! Thanks for your input.
@@thebangkokguide I agree its a good place to start but the tourists get annoying after a bit and most foreigners that live here for any length of time tend to move a bit farther out. I just don't think it's worth double the price but then again if you are taking the BTS daily instead of walking that adds up as well. I think most people look at the videos might not realize how small 30 sq meters really is because the camera makes everything look huge. Most pantries in the USA are the size of a condo here. My house was 5700 sq ft with a 1700 sq ft garage and now I live in 34 sq meters. My lease is up in April and I will visit the states to buy a house and land, but when I return I will start with looking at the #2 condo you highlighted.
This time I don't think any of them are worth anything near that price. I usually like one of them. If you see this would you look into touring the Supalai Prima Riva and condos in that area.( When I say in that area it needs to be on the river). It is supposed to have great facilities and some space, and a nice view. I like to be close to a concrete jungle, but looking out at a bunch of buildings just isn't my idea of a nice view. I'm sure there are others out there that might like to see some like it. Everyone does smack dab in the city. I would really love to see this. I mentioned that particular complex because I'm moving in 8 months been looking at different areas and condos online. This area is perfect, but I'd like to see some of the complexes. Supalai Prima Riva is my number one choice online, maybe SV City at Rama 3. It has a shopping mall with it. Plus large condos. Online, that's not getting to see everything. Thanks for making these videos. Always informative.
#1 & #3 are definite no go's - the use of the limited space is poor, and looks to be fairly tight quarters, if more than 1 person is present at the same time. You are clearly paying a premium for the shared building amenities & location, with these two units. #2, although older, is clearly the winner, among these three units. In addition to unit size & build quality, the older condos also have one oft-unmentioned advantage: if the building has been occupied for 10+ years, you will be able to get a much better sense of how well the building, esp. the common areas & shared amenities, will be managed & maintained over the long haul.
Im arriving in Thailand next week and i got a really cool hotel for 25 cad a night, and only a 2 min walk away from the Emsphere. Does Bangkok have any cool celebrations for Christmas and the new yeras?🎉
The whole city gets decked out for Christmas and New Years... Love the area around Central World and Siam Paragon. Icon Siam is great too. Lots of decorations, performances and fireworks! Emsphere has lots happening too. Perfect time to visit!
Problems with most Of most condos is the juristic office, employees or security guards that are incompetent and do not do their job well. Find a condo with a third-party Management company
Appreciate your efforts in showing us condos, but having the word luxury and affordable In the same sentence, just doesn't jive.... don't feel bad I give the same line to just about every reviewer that has it in the title as well. A couple of the buildings had a hint of luxury about it, but the condo itself, not even close. In my opinion, it can't be luxury unless it's over 65 m².
I'm not sure these are bigger than a prison cell!? lol! Just kidding but I am always suprised by the small size of these units. A full day at home and your mental health might suffer! I personally need space to feel good and free.
I think that many newcomers live in smaller condos during their first year or two when they spend a lot of time exploring and enjoying life outside plus all the amenities... and as people live here longer, they often move to larger places as they get more settled. Thanks for the input!
Seems too hard to get a dryer in Thai rentals. It makes no sense, how are you going to dry clothes during the wet season or even outside of it with intermittent intense downpours?
Very few condos have dryers but many will have a washing and drying room in the condo. That being said, even with the rainy season clothes tend to dry on the balcony very quickly. I've never had any issues with that one.
Definitely the first condo. Thanks for presenting so many option in your videos. Looking to make the move to Thailand in the future and your videos show me that it's a very viable option. Big fan of the wall test. 😁
The wall test is key. I've lived in condos where I didn't do it... not fun. I'm glad the videos are helpful! Cheers

I would take condo 2 today!!! Love the space and it has a tub!!! Women love tubs!🤣🤣🤣

Most condos have really nice gyms in that price range.
You read my mind. I’ll have some gym related content soon. I’ll take a look at that budget range. These are all directly in the city center so a bit pricier.
Agree, $500-$700 condos and local gyms with prices. 👍
2nd for the space. First for the price & amenities
Needed to combine the two for the perfect place!

It's a great area. Might be my favorite in the city at this point. Cheers!

Love these videos with different apartment price ranges. I'm hoping to get something between 20-30k THB.

#3 Good gym! Love it. Condo tiny and too expensive.
Gym and pool there were super nice. Condo definitely on the small side. Tends to be the style in the newer condos.
@@thebangkokguide Yes. Hyde 11 for instance. Extremely good. But rooms tiny as f... 65 sqm, 3 rooms, 2 bathrooms. Like puppet house. 50 k.
For me the second is fantastic and great value!
Definitely liked the space there. Cheers
@@thebangkokguide I much prefer the older condos.
#2 Good condo, good price! But bathroom through bedroom is not good if you do not live alone. Gym is lady instagram workout style only 😀
Yeah I would have preferred the bathroom to connect with the common area as well. That was unfortunate. Cheers
I'd go with #2. Need that couch. I don't mind the lower floor pool as it looks nice.
I like the older pools as well… big couch in big space is a winner 😅

I always prefer the old building before 2010. Bigger space and no fancy amenities and less expensive
Definitely better prices per square meter in the older builds... also tend to have larger and more open spaces. Cheers
Come to KL Georgetown and KK too plenty luxury with reasonable price and super condo miami
Thanks for the recommendation. Cheers

Agreed. I guess it's been updated because it doesn't look older and double the space. Also a nice pool that is entirely in the sun!
Very spacious. I liked it as well. Cheers

#1 30k for 30sqm. Too much for shoe box feeling. But in general I recommend Noble.
Good build quality but definitely on the small side. Cheers
I live in the U.S. and my car payment alone is $1,150 per month.

Fair point. To be honest, the UA-cam algorithm really seems to like the word luxury... tricky balance with titles! Cheers
are these 3 condos walking distance to BTS or MTR ?
definitely #2 because of the size, except the price 😂
Yeah all 3 are a short walk to BTS Phromphong. Definitely paying a premium for that location as Phromphong is pricy.
@thebangkokguide what do you think about the condo complex on the Edge ?
Looked like the author managed to go quite a bit high to make last review).
It does happen...
Unit 2 with the extra room.

The only thing I don't like about Bangkok is that every condo under 1.5k looks like a Swedish prison cell haha
Those Swedish prison cells are some real winners tho lol

Alas I did not. Perhaps I can check!
The wall of Park Origin condo is super thin. The construction quality is poor compared to other brands or old condos.
