  • In this latest Ruby's Revival installment, we continue with our 1946 Spartan Manor renovation as we attempt to see what's underneath all of that aluminum oxidation. How bad are the scratches and old repair residue? How many panels will we have to replace? Is a simple polish enough, or are we going to need to do something more complex? You'll also see our pregnancy announcement and get caught up to what's happening next!

    Hi y'all-
Polishing those old aluminum trailers is a monumental undertaking!
Keep going at it and I promise it'll look like a mirror.
If you start with a grittier polish on a more aggressive pad at first, you'll be able to knock down the scratches and scrapes in the body.
Then progress to higher and higher number pastes on finger pads.
It takes a good, solid month to polish one like that... But it's well worth the sweat.
    Cheers!

Thank you! We’re going to use a kit with a higher grit for sure. I don’t think we’re going to do a mirror finish but taking out those scratches will be a dream!

Have you considered using Yorkshire Grit?? it was made to be a woodturning sanding pastes, but it can be used to Sand and polish metal too, the original grit breaks down to the equivalent of 1000 grit while polishing then you can take it a step further and get the YG microfine and go to an even finer grit again while polishing....... i believe you can get it from the walnut log in St Louis ....... awesome video

Haha I wondered who would be the first person to say something! I fixed it after this video was done. It’s from adding soundproofing drywall and it changed the thickness of that wall so I had to fix the outlet depth first. But I got it!
