He wonders if Rick is even redeemable after he made her miss orientation week, but honestly it was a relief when I first saw it. When you have movies like Hotel Transylvania where Dracula tried tramatizing his daughter so that she would never leave home, and the Croods where Eep's dad tried violently attacking the newcomer when his family said they didn't want to live in caves anymore, I had thought Rick cancelling her plane ticket was an attempt to keep her home forever, not just squeeze in some more family time at the last minute. I have seen so many cartoon fathers go overboard toxic with their relationships with their kids, this just felt genuinely boneheaded in comparison,
"Let's get you out of the second most important week of college to go on a road trip you didn't want to go on! Also, I somehow hacked into your phone and cancelled your flight ticket without your consent!" Well done, Rick. Eat fist.
The most contrived third-act Deus Ex Machina I've seen in a film was the glowy-hexagonal-prison-cell-things using the EXACT Robertson head screwdrivers for the control panels that the Mitchells happened to have. The movie mentions more than once that Robertson heads are usually woodworking screws, not used on appliances. There are some electrical applications that use specialty _combination_ screws, which can be interfaced by Robertson and/or Philips and/or Flathead screwdrivers, but the movie makes it clear that it's just a Robertson screw. There's no reason that should have happened. Unless PAL was planning on a pure Robertson being the least likely screw for a device like that, just so that nobody would have expected it? I know too much about hardware
Another Sin: I understand Katie has a visual and very creative imagination and all, and most people do. Imaginations are creative, but when she was showing her family the diary and her plan when did she figure out there was a kill code? When later on in the movie All you had to do was destroy the pal phone with ended this entire apocalypse! Another Sin: If she was showing her family the diary and when they were all moving in the book and Katie called them “Apocalyptic road warriors” and they were walking away from a fire, does that mean her family saw them moving aswell? And they have schizophrenia- I MEAN CREATIVE IMAGINATIONS?
2 more sins: 1. When the dad comes in and says the blue light thing, they just all opened up their devices and are doing random things like playing video games, right after saying they were going to check out the thing from the ad on Katie's laptop. 2. When they show the video that Katie wanted to show her dad, the character that was supposed to represent him says a line that he says only after she is done with the movie and is showing him it.

He did say it was saved by Amy Poehler's delivery, though.
2:50 Makes a sin that no one is complaining on the page of the video... but the lock symbol next to the title indicates it's Private, so no one else can see or comment on it..
Reasons why Mitchell's vs the Machines is a top tier movie: 1. Deborahbot & Eric 2. Monchi 3. "yum yum good" 4. "dog- pig- dog- pig- loaf of bread? SYSTEM ERROR" 5. ~Foolish Human Air~ 6. Aaron liking Abby Posey 7. Linda going ballistic on the robots with Aaron on her back while a crown is doodled above her 8. Includes a nostalgic Rihanna song :) 9. "Rick Mitchell, there is a time and place for looting" 10. "Mother, what is...death?" 11. Monchi being a little gentleman at the end 12. as a 2000s kid, the camcorder tapes got me...so A+ for that 13. Dog cop!! "I'm here to bust criminals and lick my own butt...and I'm all out of criminals"
Also not to mention , they literally saved billions of people yet they just happen to live a normal life right after and not be super famous or get recognition for what they did
You missed a sin. Right as Rick is about to activate the videos, the robots come in and march towards him. And instead of turning on the video, he just stops and tries to get Eric and Deborahbot on their side

Can we point out that half this movie’s ideas / plot points are ripped straight out of one of Sony’s other good movies? (It’s cloudy with a chance of meatballs) Here is a summary of the similar parts. 1. Protagonist gets bullied for a great talent in a generic classroom 2. Dad stands out the most of not supporting protagonist 3. The big bad is a expertly designed machine gone rouge 4. Hero creates a kill code to stop the villain 5. Villan is not defeated by the kill code 6. Protagonist pretends to be dead after being brought down by multiple comic relief characters

I love how they casually stated that Katie was gay, by mentioning her girlfriend. Just goes to show that it's no big deal.
Reaching hard. She literally had no love interest
@@elihuclark-el4143 it was mentioned in the post credits scene
@@elihuclark-el4143 her mum asks about her and jade being official
that's the proper way to do it. nothing forced or overly harped on.
Literally the first major animated movie to feature a major gay character
2 more sins:
17:00 in the spanish version it was changed to korean or chinese, I don't remember, but made sense
You missed a mistake where, earlier in the movie the road camouflage came off the car but then when they went inside the mall, it magically came back.
9:30 my beagle eats anything, including poop and she’s fine. Fine in a health standpoint tho, she’s obviously very stuoud
4:52
"Where we droppin', boys?"
"Route"
12:11 no this is believable furbies always move anywhere and everywhere when you aren't watching, one time my furby wouldn't turn off so I smashed it with a hammer and it still kept talking, those things are basically T-800s
0:54 It was already tired when _Inside Out_ did it in 2015, and I know this because I listened to that movie's commentary recently, and director Pete Docter stated that he didn't even want to use the "opening narration" trope, but Disney demanded he did it anyway. He did say it was saved by Amy Poehler's delivery, though.
11:00 never noticed that when watching it
"secret rage issue"
6:11 is something my dinosaur obsessed brother would say therefore 1 more sin for the movie
13:35 They just had low render distance
2:50 Makes a sin that no one is complaining on the page of the video... but the lock symbol next to the title indicates it's Private, so no one else can see or comment on it..
Reasons why Mitchell's vs the Machines is a top tier movie:
1. Deborahbot & Eric
2. Monchi
3. "yum yum good"
4. "dog- pig- dog- pig- loaf of bread? SYSTEM ERROR"
5. ~Foolish Human Air~
6. Aaron liking Abby Posey
7. Linda going ballistic on the robots with Aaron on her back while a crown is doodled above her
8. Includes a nostalgic Rihanna song :)
9. "Rick Mitchell, there is a time and place for looting"
10. "Mother, what is...death?"
11. Monchi being a little gentleman at the end
12. as a 2000s kid, the camcorder tapes got me...so A+ for that
13. Dog cop!! "I'm here to bust criminals and lick my own butt...and I'm all out of criminals"
Also not to mention , they literally saved billions of people yet they just happen to live a normal life right after and not be super famous or get recognition for what they did
It may have sins but this movie is funny as hell. As an adult man, I’ve watched it 3 times.

You missed a sin. Right as Rick is about to activate the videos, the robots come in and march towards him. And instead of turning on the video, he just stops and tries to get Eric and Deborahbot on their side
4:00 Wait, i have picture frames hanging up with out pictures in them
Why?
When I watched it for first time, I thought it was meh, but after a second watch totally fell in love with it, great film, I really like the animation style they went for it. My favorite animated movie of 2021

6:25 - I was sitting on a an outdoor patio in Paia Maui Hawaii and my wife's coworker walked by the fence gate...we locked eyes and couldn't believe we were both in the same little cafe, in the same little town on the same little island 3,800 miles away from home.
so are we not gonna talk about the fact that babies and toddlers were most likely put into a green thing by themselves? like they’ll just be screaming for hours and no one will be able to help. it’s like a plane, but you’re more separated and just have to watch
18:05 that skip sounds like it went through some autotune
15:11 keep in mind PAL did say she was going to leave a seats right next to mark for the mitchels
Jeremy's second " I don't care if she's a kid, she doesn't get a pass"! moment. 😂😂😂 Kids.....
The people behind this movie done a excellent job with the humor and the humor can be understood by all types of people
It's so great to see unique ideas for animation brought to light without being under the yoke of Disney Corp.
*(⊙_☉) Wait a second, you're a grown-up & you watched a movie created for a child? You need to grow-up.*
Can we point out that half this movie’s ideas / plot points are ripped straight out of one of Sony’s other good movies? (It’s cloudy with a chance of meatballs)
Here is a summary of the similar parts.
1. Protagonist gets bullied for a great talent in a generic classroom
2. Dad stands out the most of not supporting protagonist
3. The big bad is a expertly designed machine gone rouge
4. Hero creates a kill code to stop the villain
5. Villan is not defeated by the kill code
6. Protagonist pretends to be dead after being brought down by multiple comic relief characters
I think I remember the dad unrefundably cancelling a flight ticket as well as katie's orientation. He's definitely irredeemable. I absolutely HATE movie parents that cancel their kids' plans just to insert their own and think it'll be amazing and strengthen a fake bond
I agree
Well, it did strengthen their bond. It helped the two reconcile with each other
Yes, a completely irredeemable selfish asshole that will never learn his lesson over the course of the movie. It's not like that's his entire character arc or anything.
I certainly can't stand the dad. It was annoying as heck!
@@CafefantasmaMX yeah but Katie isn't great either. Sure the dad was pretty irritating, but Katie was just as bad at times. Sure both of them connected in the end, but still both of them had a lot of issues
Hey the sin about Rick being placed next to Mark, Pal did say she would save a spot on the ship next to him for them since he believed in them.
13:45 ohh I completely missed that analogy
when pal checks for the mitchells weaknesses one of them says secret rage issues. thought you ought to know
The fact that the sins are just small nitpicks for the most part shows how good this movie is
The reason there are so many things in the film that mentions September is that the film was announced before COVID so the date was pushed later after the initial release date of September 2020
2:43 He calls Dug dumb. This shall not stand 😡
I with you 😡
15:11 Granted, PAL did say that she would seat Mark directly next to the Mitchells, just because of how much Mark believed in them. It is still a stupid way to set that up, though.
This was a good movie, but I feel like the meme humor was the one thing holding it back from being a great one
15:10
The pal phone actually says earlier that she'll put Mark and the Mitchells next to each other. Maybe you should check on YOUR conveniences.
8:10
that's the thing though, i've been thinking about that type of question recently and of course there's probably a ton of other people that were filming but these are the only ones who got to get the footage out because they prevented being captured for so long
16:15, Plus there was an actual hyperlink at the bottom to go to youtube, They just decided to stretch it out to the last minute instead of actually making it easier
here’s the thing, they don’t survive because they are the protagonists. they are the protagonists because they survive.
lets be honest here, mama mitchell going ape s*** is the best part
