    Hey nice video, was wondering you didn't show the process of removing the Trans mount, I have a '03 Turbo PT Cruiser and I'm going to change the trans mount and put in a new one, I've looked and looked on UA-cam for a video on how to do that, I was hoping your video would show that process

      +Eddy Dean Hi Ed, yea the trans mount typically isn`t a concern, or to complicated. As to say that a jack under the trans with a soft divider like plywood between the jack and trans. Remove the air cleaner & the battery, to expose a thin rusted metal bracket holding up the fuse box. Then take (4) probably 8 mm or 10 mm bolts out of this bracket. Lift the fuse box or the (PDC) out with the bracket. This exposes the trans mount. (I`m doing this from memory of 8 months or so ago) With the jack under trans, lift it till the trans raises about 1/4", then remove (6) fasteners. (2) 15mm or 18 mm 3" long bolts, passing through the mount vertically into the trans, and (4) 15mm 1" long bolts passing horizontally through the mount to body bracket. swap out the mount, reinstall the rest of the stuff. Be sure ignition switch is off if disconnection reconnecting battery. May get by without removing battery, by dislodging it to get to bolts in corner. good luck.

    question: why do you have to remove the torque convertor bolts ? can't you just separate the trans from the engine leaving the torque convertor bolted on to the engine ? would this mess up something if done like this ?

    • @AutoDrdiy
      @AutoDrdiy  4 роки тому +1

      Yes, it can gouge the front bushing, among many other concerns. It is a precision device, and should be handled in that manner. Like without a transmission hanging off of it. Thanks for watching.

    I have a 02 pt I'm about to replace trans in same issue with the metal shavings. But mine will not move in any gear. Just picked it up for 250$ is it worth swapping trans?

    Is this similar in a 2001 Grand Voyager IV 3.3?
    How high do I have to jack up the car in front?
    What is the height of the automatic transmission?

    • @AutoDrdiy
      @AutoDrdiy  6 років тому

      Ano Nymos I don't think they are the same. 4 cyl vs 6 cyl. The van, will likely have a full box sub frame under it, that is typically removed with the engine and trans attached, then the engine or trans is separated and lifted off the frame. I have removed the engine through the top before, by removing the manifolds first. And the trans can be pulled off engine after frame is removed, provided that the engine is supported by a chain and lift bar mounted on top of strut towers. The height is whatever the height of the trans is, + about 6" for Jack. Take a tape, and measure it, if an exact height is prefered.

    Looks pretty simple as your video was about 20 min how long did it take to pull with out video cuts?

    • @AutoDrdiy
      @AutoDrdiy  8 років тому +1

      About 6-8 hrs. Drain fluid, check lines, ball joints, tie rods, steering rack for leaks, mounts, axle boots, various other possible problems. Rat nests in air cleaner, etc.

    hey Auto Dr diy! does the manual transmission have the same bolts locations that are attached to the engine? in another way I'm changing a clutch disc on my 02 pt cruiser, do I follow same steps to undo the bolts that keep transmission and engine together? or the design might be different? thank you

    • @AutoDrdiy
      @AutoDrdiy  7 років тому +2

      All engines have the same bolt pattern. The only variance would be that the manual has a slave cyl. inserted along bell housing, and either install a new flywheel, or have the existing one re-surfaced at a machine shop. Or your new clutch will likely fail early. And a new pressure pl8 w throw-out bearing.

      Ok, thank you for the help and replying quickly too! For more references do you know if any website might have a breakdown 2D pics on the replacement process or brief explanation on what bolts to target and in what order? Or that's something I have to figure out with the help of ur video, since you know that Pt has a small damn room to work on! And the vision angle on some of these bolts is 0° (can barely see them) lol, Thanks again

      You may try the pt cruiser forums for manual trans info. It is easier to do than the auto, and the whole process is basic and very primitive compared to most other vehicles. But if you have never removed a trans before, I STRONGLY recommend you let someone who has done it, do it for you. Simply because the precarious aspects of this procedure has a very real risk of personal injury, and at the very least risking further damage to the vehicle is a very real possibility without previous experience.

    Hello very good try, will follow but making me dissy, fall of the chair, with the camera moving all the time, maybe another time you can use fixed camera positions, thanks for your efforts so far Good Luck

      +Roy Odell oh..., yea.... That was one of the first video`s I ever made. But the critical points were made fairly clear I think. If I get another one in I may clear it up a bit. Thanks for the tip, and thanks for watching.

    Do you know if the solenoid is inside the transmission or on the outside ??
    Thanks

    • @AutoDrdiy
      @AutoDrdiy  7 років тому

      The solenoid PACK, is located on the outside front of the transmission. Directly underneath the trans-cooler lines, and it has big square wire plug-in on the top of it, a chrome front plate on it, and 3-10 mm bolts holding it down vertically.. If a solenoid is bad, the whole solenoid pack has to be changed, and a transmission quick- learn should be performed after replacement. The pack has a gasket under it that should be replaced, and it is about an inch below the max fluid level, and trans fluid will be lost upon removal of the pack.

      What would happen in i only change the solenoid

    • @AutoDrdiy
      @AutoDrdiy  7 років тому

      All solenoids are contained inside of the (Solenoid/Pressure Switch Assembly), (or Solenoid "PACK" as I`ve termed it)) and cannot be serviced individually. As you cannot buy the individual solenoids, and if you had a used solenoid that is working, then just change the whole solenoid assembly with a used assembly. If one solenoid is worn out, the others aren`t far it behind anyway. But always make sure that the solenoid in question is damaged, by at least checking its resistance at the proper terminals on the PACK`s plug-in. Or scan-tool, or even use a 9 v battery to activate the solenoid, and listen for it to click on/off. These solenoids are Pulse-width-modulated, (the rapid clicking sound is heard from them when manually changing gears.)

    • @AutoDrdiy
      @AutoDrdiy  7 років тому

      The input and output speed sensors ARE serviced individually, ( one is "the input sensor" located in case above solenoid PACK, between trans cooler lines) and go bad quite often. As well, if the trans is suffering internal damage, the sensors will collect metal junk on them, and skew their signal to the TC-module. Causing many issues with the trans performance characteristics. The "output" speed sensor is about "6-8" to the right of the "input" sensor. When these trans are doing weird things, I always pulled these sensors out to see if metal particles were stuck on them, if so, then a replacement trans was typically in it`s near future.

    it's probably your chain in your transmission or your axles not in right

    • @AutoDrdiy
      @AutoDrdiy  4 роки тому

      The problem was more of a front carrier/planetary gear assembly issue. Not shown in the video, was the fact that I had already removed the pan, (as part of the diagnostic) and found large chunks of the gears, in there. Thanks for watching

    Chrysler Crusier PT año 2006 tiene problemas en aceleración, se chupa o no toma el acelerador esto ocurre generalmente en baja. Alguien me dice que puede ser la caja pero nada clero en realidad
