Description: pt 2; In this part, I have located a good used low mileage replacement transmission. I will do an initial inspection, transfer any missing parts, and check for damage to the unit. After which I will reinstall the transmission, install a new filter and fluid, check for leaks, and unfortunately (if you don`t have one) a scan tool is preferred to do a reset of the transmission adaptives. And finally a test drive to verify operation. (Be sure that if your trans is full of metal shavings/chunks, to flush clean the radiator cooler and any external coolers.) It is vital to remove all debris from these coolers. Or replace as necessary. A fast way I use to estimate metal damage internally, is to pull one of the magnetic speed sensors out and examine the tip of it for metal. Grey dust appearance is max contaminate preferred. This isn`t full-proof, as there could be a bronze bushing failure that isn't magnetic. But a pan removal will be the best option in most cases.
