Just do yourself a favor and do what i did get a set of Mitutoyo digital calipers. Thank me later. I was shocked how far off my old crappy calipers were compared to the Mit's. They are absolutely worth the $$ since you are making custom loads for a GT. Your groups will shrink and have better consistency just because of the premium calipers. Best of luck
Try this: Take five measurements of the same loaded round. Remove the Comparator from the caliper, reinstall it, then take five more measurements. I have found that if you remove and reinstall the Comparator to the caliper, you can get a different reading, especially if you’re only checking them once. I keep a loaded dummy round with a referenced measurement. If the comparator reads higher/lower than I had previously recorded, I take that into account.
@@RobsReloading I recently bought a Mitutoyo because the Fowler caliper I had doesn't have an off switch and the battery only lasted two or three months. It nice, but switching from Imperial to Metric can't be done with my fat finger, even with my fingernail. I have to find something smaller with which to press the button. I am- disappointed, because I switch back and forth quite often. Maybe I should have bought the iGaging one as used on Shannon's Reloading Bench.
@@sergeantdwz5783 I believe I currently load 6 cartridges on the channel. I have been waiting on a 6 creed barrel for a while. I then plan to add 300wsm. Barrel wait time is slowing down the progress currently. I also like to do cartridges that don't already have a ton of info on the internet. So you won't see adding 308 or something very common going forward.
Full length size. The neck tension feels perfect when seating bullets with Hornady brass. I have not measured it. Haven't had a reason to measure or test different neck tension.
Okay so the barrel on my rifle is a 1:7 . The berger box shown in this video shows 1:8 minimum. I see some sierra bullets are for "1:7 and faster". Can someone offer some advice as to what to do and not to do.
1.985 round .... There can be variations in the bullets themselves , yes , even Bergers . Also , If you have found a good node , it will usually sit within a .006/.008 window so , .001/.002 differences are no concern.
I have a 9 yo pittsburgh 6in caliper that reads the same as my mitutoyo 500-196-30. But the new Pittsburgh calipers are complete junk. I returned a total of 10 some 6in some 8in, none of them worked. Thus why i have a mitutoyo.

Thank you for sharing your expertise
I spin the round in the comparator to make sure the base is sitting flat on the calipers. Also Hornady has a base to put on the calipers.
I also seriously need to upgrade my caliper.
I use the hornady digital mic. It’s accurate. Used feeler gauges and it’s dead on.

@@dahut3614 I probably will buy one of the igaging like shanon has. He talks quite fond of them and wat cheaper than the mitutoyo.
What distance off the lands are you loading for? As always Rob, great video!
I have that exact same press. What kind of plate did you use to hang it off the end of the table.
The plate is a just a piece of I think half inch mild steel. I then drilled holes to match the press.
I'd like to see some videos where you load something more common. Something 27-30 cal.
The process would be the same with all bottle neck rifle cartridges.
@@RobsReloading oh I know, I just think it would be more entertaining to a larger audience if you were to broaden the calibers.

Like to see some varmint loads for the 6 GT
Not done a lot of light bullets in GT. I'm guessing they would perform.
What are you trimming your case length to?
Sad, I was hoping for some groups.
How about groups tomorrow or Monday. Shot them don't have them edited
@@RobsReloading sweet. Maybe there will be a video in time for my morning coffee then.
What die set are you using?

Do you use bushing sizing dies? If not, what’s the neck tension like on standard hornady FL dies?

Has anybody tried reloader 15 in 6gt yet? I know everybody posts about varget and h4350 but I got 8#s to shoot up.
