Great video. I have a 98' mustang gt I drive weekends mostly or short drives to grocery store. It is a 25 year old car. Recently had smoke cause by too much blow by in 1 cylinder. I fixed the problem using stp oil additive along with mobile 1 synthetic 5w20. I changed the pcv valve as it was stuck, causing a little sludge. What oil do you recommend I do my next oil change. Thank you

I've taken a liking to Castrol Edge. Currently using Castrol Edge EP.
I have a Ford EcoBoost engine and Ford seems to really back Castrol.
Some of the European spec Ecoboost engines were developed with Castrol to develope a specific oil that met Ford and European conservation specs.
One in particular was the 1.0L EcoBoost.
In other countries where Ford does not market Motorcraft products the premium motor oil from the dealership is Castrol Magnatec with Ford logo right on the container.
Also the exotic Ford GT comes factory fill with Castol Edge supercar formulation oil. I believe the Shelby Mustang does also.
I used to Mobil1 and switched Castrol Edge after learning this. Also the Castol Edge seems to be a bit lower in price.
I recently changed oilin past couple of weeks. I went with OW-20 over the preferred 5W-20 by Ford. I'm good for the worst winter weather I can possibly encounter in Pennsylvania.

Change your oil according to your owners manual & the brand of oil becomes a moot point! I’ve used Walmart’s Super Tech oil on several of my vehicles over the years & changed my oil & filter regularly & I’ve never had an oil related issue with any of my vehicles! If you have a certain brand that gives you peace of mind & let’s you sleep at night then I say the extra buck or 2 per quart is worth it!

A pre existing leak is partially true. When a car runs on conventional oil all its life, sludge will accumulate and protect a dry gasket from leaking. Once you use synthetic oil, it washes all the sludge and gaskets starts leaking, not because there was a leak, but because the leak was prevented by sludge. Synthetic oil just came and exposed an existing problem, but it’s possible there was never a leak.

If you really want to know how an oil is performing , run your oil in an air cooled engine like a harley,, HD swore up and down their oil was mobil1, i had HD oil go to 200+ degrees in 105° temps and damn near 0psi pressure, i swapped to Mobil1 and never ran above165° temp and never below 10psi, the reason this happens is because of friction reduction, less friction equals less heat, you can do this same test with castrol, on a foot note recently i did this test again between amsoil and mobil1 both on a built stage5 tc88, results, mobil1 beat amsoil...just my two cents , but that how you realy tell the difference

Too much flashy marketing going on, just too schetchy and desperate. Modern engines have tighter tolerances which calls for a thinner oil. The modern synthetic oils have better properties/modifiers to ensure their viscosity doesn't change drastically.

    • @Saeed26434
      @Saeed26434 2 роки тому +1

The car is possibly burning coolant. I would be very worried because my cousin has a 2014 Sante fe and the engine ceased because Hyundai decided to cheap out on they’re critical internal engine parts which causes a build up of dirt/debris on the top of the engine. It ceased the motor. In the end after some arguments with the dealer, he said there was a recall on cars under warranty and luckily my cousin had 2 months left in his warranty and got a brand new engine put in his Hyundai. Hyundai also burn oil in many cases because of the poor design and cheap engine parts. If I were you I would think of a genius story and get your engine replaced asap. Talk to your mechanic before hand so you have a good story to make up and get that engine changed along with any recalls it may have.
Good luck and stay away from Hyundai.

I’m currently running Ultralub 5w30 full synthetic. After 7K miles the oil is still has tons of life left in it based on visual inspection. In the past Mobil 1, Cam2 & Supertech synthetics were done at this point as my truck falls under the severe use catagory. Costs a bit more but if it lasts longer that’s fine with me. I guess the myth here is that many think that Mobil 1 is the best. I don’t think it is. Just popular. It doesn’t even meet the Chrysler ms-6395 specification!

NAH. There are several oils that test better. Mobil 1 is the most POPULAR, but it tests poorly.
Amsoil tests best, but it is super-expensive and NOT readily available.
Pennzoil Ultra Platinum performed very well (2nd place to Amsoil), and that's what the famous 95 MERC gets now -- Pennzoil Ultra Platinum, 5W-20; Bosch Premium Oil Filter # 3410; and a FILTERMAG # SS365PR Magnet Kit.
