Great stream! It’s hard to argue PowerGrid isn’t a 10/10 board game, when a decade later it’s still played as often as it is. Heck, they just released an updated Italy map! How many other games have this much love?
Thanks for bringing the game back under our attention. It's a classic. Hope the new version gets some new praise! Looking forward to the other maps as well.
Great watch! Now, I’m biased since it is one of my three 10s on BGG, but still. Recharge version is basically the same as the Deluxe version bar some plastic coins and some graphics changes. Keep on gridding!
Love this game. Not familiar with the new rules. Have the really old game with cards starting with 01. Don't know how the new rules would work. Are you missing an oil resource? Somewhere around 1:48 you didn't have enough oil to fill the track, but there were none on the plants.
I know it's in the rules, but wouldn't it be better if the plant cards with the plug (at the back) where all on top so you won't draw very low cards later in the game?
Martin may have been able to win if he didn't bid on the 25 and was able to get the 36 (3coal for 7) and matched Edward with 15 cities powered. It is certainly frustrating drowning in cash but losing in capacity.
It seems like you don't like the game and yes it takes 2-3 hrs to play, but for me it's worth it. I wouldn't call turn order a 'catch up mechanic', but more like another factor to consider in your efficiency calculation. Sometimes you gotta build a lot and don't care about being 1st in TO, others it makes sense to hang back. How many times have you played PG? I challenge you to give it another try and hey if you don't like it still, then no biggie. I hope you find time to play games you like to play.
This was a very fun game to stream. Maybe it is time to revisit it...
great playthrough - power grid lends itself way for spectating due to such fluid/incremental interactions & would love to see more

Love this game sooooo much! My All-Time-#1 that is! Nice playthrough and thanks for all the handling/streaming of the game Edward.
After watching Italy live and coming back to finish watching this one. I need to add this to my collection.
This really was a blast and tight as all get-out!
@@Heavycardboard and I have ordered.

Didn't catch it until Edward said "Mr. Fowler" that's the Martin Fowler. Awesome :)
The programmer?!
Oh s***. Have read (a lot(?)) from him.
Yep
What a great explanation 5 star buddy

Great stream! Nukes! Cheap fuel helped launch the overtake at the end. Great game.
Nooo! I missed it! Sure, I would have had to set my alarm to 3am but still... sad panda!! On the top of the watch list it goes!
Its because of these playthroughs that I got power grid recharged last year. Our groups go to economic game

I get this game as my Secret Santa gift I ran in my country :)
Can't decide if I like the new rules. I have the original and not sure if I will upgrade or not. Play the game a lot and really like it.
Why does the 3 powerplant with the „1“ does cost only 1 in the beginning
I know it's in the rules, but wouldn't it be better if the plant cards with the plug (at the back) where all on top so you won't draw very low cards later in the game?
Ummm. Aren’t they all on top at the start? Only occasionally does one get sent to the back.....or maybe I’m doing something wrong.
Where did you get the power plant market board?
I got it through a BGG auction 5-7 years ago. But I know that the graphics file is on the PG BGG page!
Martin may have been able to win if he didn't bid on the 25 and was able to get the 36 (3coal for 7) and matched Edward with 15 cities powered. It is certainly frustrating drowning in cash but losing in capacity.
Is this the recharged edition? Does it come with the market board please?
This is recharged. The board is diy. I’ve seen them on Etsy or you can make your own. Check bgg files.
Why are subtitles disabled?
Bad game. Catch up mechanics from the fires of Mount Doom. And terribly long.

Once you understand the catchup mechanic, you try to control it.
Welcome to power grid level 2.
