+Kyde and Eric yes, it defiantly does look and sound the same as the ball games I went to while in Japan. I liked all the cheering that went on during the game.
We had a family friend who played for the Saitama Seibu Lions and he would tell us of the amazing fans and unique atmosphere in Japanese baseball. Thank you for posting this as I always wondered what he meant.Go Swallows!
I went to this stadium for a baseball game because of this video, day before the Swallows there was a high school team playing and watched that too. great fun.
I've been wondering about the Japanese baseball game experience. I've read about it and so glad yall posted a video! thanks guys! this one was super funny
This would have to be one of my favourite videos you guys have made, I've just got back from a week in Tokyo and watching your videos was a major influence on what I wanted to see and do while I was there.
Back in the 60's there was a Japanese minor league baseball team called the Sankei Atoms. They had Tetsuwan Atom (Astro Boy) as their mascot, and his image was on their Jerseys. Seeing the band reminded me of the HS football games my wife and I attended while our daughters were on the school marching band. They'd be in the stands playing every time the home team got a touchdown (which sadly didn't happen that often!).
Let me make a correction, Kenneth. The Atoms team you mentioned is not a minor league team. It is exactly the team you see in this video! After ownership and name changes, it is now the Swallows.
Those "trumpet people"- you just never know where they are going to show up. Kyde, you and Eric are hilarious! I just found your channel and am enjoying it so very much.
That was a lot of umbrellas! Its fun to see another country enjoying the sport and going "wieners" to the wall with it and making it there own. Another great upload!
Wow, they seem serious about their baseball! I used to be a huge baseball fan when I was in high school, but got my heart broken too many times. Plus, football has become way more popular in the States these days, over baseball. I'm not a football fan, so I do miss baseball sometimes. It would be fun to go to a game like that, where I didn't have an emotional attachment really to either team, and I could watch for the fun! I'd need a list of the Fan Rules, though. Seems like it's a bit complicated. I wouldn't want a huge crowd like that mad at me for cheering or doing something else at the wrong time!
This is like one Japanese guy went to america got drunk at a baseball time and had an amazing time, then he came back and to japan and started telling people about his amazing adventures and this is what they came up with. The part with the umbrellas reminds me of when they go to the blernsball game in futurama. "MULTIBALL!!!"
I wish I could come up with some rhyme or reason as to the order we are watching your videos but they are consistent so it seems like it doesn't really matter. As I said in another post, I never want to exit one of your videos we start watching.
Have you thought about going to a volleyball game? I fallow Hisamitsu Springs games online and they seem to be like this with the cheering there too. Volleyball season started there a few weeks ago, and I think its decently popular in Japan. (I'm in Texas so i don't know for sure.)
K & E: Did you walk to the stadium or was it a train ride? I greatly enjoyed the game experience, but your fans also love to share your traveling experience. Much love from Texas, Patron Bob
I LOOOOOVE your videos. You two look like so much fun. I will also take some of that octopus that you had Kyde. Takoyagi ? Like I know how to spell that lol. Sounds delicious though. I also love the respect aspect of it all. :) It's also nothing like that here at any sporting events , unfortunately .
Oh my god new life goal: Become Tokyo Swallows' head beer girl. Also, check out the dude at 7:56 dual-wielding the umbrellas, that's a hardcore fan right there Also I much prefer Japanese baseball to American, if your team loses in America you don't cheer for each other, you start a riot and it sucks
That looks like fun--gotta put this on my list for my next trip to Japan. Unrelated question: Do you guys have to pay taxes or into their version of Social Security, etc?
I almost spit out my drink is laughter at the weenier part. Lol So I heard that in Japanese baseball, each member of the team has their own cheer. Is this true? Did you happen to hear anything like that while watching the game?
Fans are most definitely not that polite to each other in America, at least en masse. Most people are not mean to each other, but between some team's fanbases there is downright animosity.
Also something I notice in your videos, the Japanese tend to keep their eyes away from your camera lens. In America, people would look directly at it or even make a face just because a camera is there. Is direct eye contact not a thing in Japan?
I'm not sure what happened when I tried to watch this. The vision appeared to be in slow motion and the sound wasn't coordinated - it went normal speed.
+Kyde and Eric Yes, that works. Baseball is not very big in Australia so I have no comparison. In test cricket it's usual to cheer or clap excellent play by either team and booing is unusual except for streakers etc who interrupt play (after all, there are only 5 days' play). I was shocked when I first attended professional basketball which is totally partisan and affected by US practices.
The behavior at a baseball game seems quintessentially Japanese. I kinda want to go to a game just to experience it (like you, I am not a big sports fan).
+SuperUltraRollingBomberThunderCorporation You are correct. Yakult is the name of drink and of the company that sells it. In Japan, the name of baseball team is combine the team's hometown name and the company's name that owns the team and the team's original name. The team in this video is Tokyo-Yakult-Swallows. Another example, Osaka-Hanshin-Tigers. Osaka is the team's hometown. Hanshin is the railway company that owns the team. Tigers is the team's original name.
+mop09drg oh, so I guess Japan adds company names into sports teams. Pretty clever advertising. And now that I watch it again, at 9:37 a man is "wearing" a Yakult ^-^
OMG yes! I was wondering if you guys ever will see a baseball game but thinking you guys aren't much sports fans I guess not? The beer girls are freaking adorable and I will admit, I pounded a few more beers just to get a chance to say a few words in my terrible Japanese. The Hanshin Tiger has an amazing 7th inning stretch. The local friend who brought me to the game handed me a balloon and I was really confused but you blow it up and release it after singing the fight song I'm guessing. Seriously the most amazing 7th inning stretch show ever. Usually in the States, it's stare at the JumboTron and watch KissCam. At the end of MLB game, there is no respect for the other fans, if they win, we grumble, if we win, we rub it in their faces. Nothing every mean or aggressive but general shit talking.
I'm astounded at japanese politeness, I know there's all kinds of weird ppl all over the world but does this generally happen all over Japan even with the younger generation?
I'd go as far to say the younger generation is even more polite than older people here. It's a total mystery as to how this happens here, even after 5 years of intense observation. -E
That's insane. Could it be the education system, heard it can be quite strict over there but on the flip side, (don't wanna open up a can of worms) heard the suicide rate is high or it used to be.
I think that's a part of it, but it's even rare to see very small children acting a fool in public. How are 2 year olds possibly well mannered? I don't get it. -E
I love takoyaki. I found some here in my hometown recently but it was sub par. It didn't taste anything like it should have. Not even the batter, and I don't think it even had the bull dog sauce on it either. So disappointing.
great video....I remember the cheering sections from going to Japanese baseball games in the 1960's. it was fun for sure.
+Mike Skidmore Oh wow, does it seem to be similar to how it was back then? -Eric
+Kyde and Eric yes, it defiantly does look and sound the same as the ball games I went
to while in Japan. I liked all the cheering that went on during the
game.
My first Kyde & Eric re-watch. Great overage. Came to this stadium on my first full day in Tokyo, Good times. Thanks for the coverage!
We had a family friend who played for the Saitama Seibu Lions and he would tell us of the amazing fans and unique atmosphere in Japanese baseball. Thank you for posting this as I always wondered what he meant.Go Swallows!
+Ben Braden Oh wow, that's amazing! I'd love to get to talk to someone that had played for a Japanese team. -Eric
Awesome! It makes my day when you guys put up a video.
+duffman102 Great to hear! -Eric
I went to this stadium for a baseball game because of this video, day before the Swallows there was a high school team playing and watched that too. great fun.
I would not have done this without this video and experiencing American baseball in a ball park in Tokyo was a great Japanese experience
Saw them play last month while in Tokyo. It was crazy fun!
Nice! -E
9/28ってリーグ優勝の4日前か。一番強い時やん。
has zero interest in baseball, yet still enjoyed this! Learned cool things!
+ozdoits Haha, yea, we don't really care much about sports but really enjoyed the game and experience! -E
I've been wondering about the Japanese baseball game experience. I've read about it and so glad yall posted a video! thanks guys! this one was super funny
+Bonnie Dalberg Awesome, glad it gave you some insight! -Eric
This would have to be one of my favourite videos you guys have made, I've just got back from a week in Tokyo and watching your videos was a major influence on what I wanted to see and do while I was there.
+pervykiwi Awesome, glad you enjoyed! It's wonderful to hear that people are using our videos to help plan their own adventures! -Eric
Great video! Now I want to travel to Japan to experience a baseball game there.
Good idea! It's always fun! -E
Looks like a fun event! I love seeing the differences from the US like the keg girls and the condiment udders.
+collectivelight Haha, yea, it was fun! Maybe they should mix the udders with the keg girls somehow..... -Eric
"stop looking at my boobs" lol
The umbrella show was awesome and creative ! I have to check it someday.
+Francisco Araújo Yea, so cute! -Eric
笑顔&笑顔&笑顔!野球観戦楽しめたようで良かったですね!

Let me make a correction, Kenneth. The Atoms team you mentioned is not a minor league team. It is exactly the team you see in this video! After ownership and name changes, it is now the Swallows.
Watched hundreds of Jvlogger videos and this is the first on baseball and it is so fun and you guys do such a great job!
+Limastudent Awesome to hear! Thanks so much! -Eric
Those "trumpet people"- you just never know where they are going to show up. Kyde, you and Eric are hilarious! I just found your channel and am enjoying it so very much.
+Barbara Cooper Glad you found us! -E
LOL, quit looking at my boobs. Hilarious.
This reminds me more of a High School Football game than a Baseball game in America, especially with the band and cheerleaders.
+I Perez Yea, very good observation! -Eric
+I Perez Yea, very good observation! -Eric
+I Perez Yea, very good observation! -Eric
The opponents are the Chunichi Dragons, who play in Nagoya.
That was a lot of umbrellas! Its fun to see another country enjoying the sport and going "wieners" to the wall with it and making it there own. Another great upload!
+Dillon Papst Glad you enjoyed! -Eric
Its been a long time since Kyde put her glasses on in a video 😄
+WF4L yea, she gets lazy about them quite a bit. -Eric
Wow, they seem serious about their baseball! I used to be a huge baseball fan when I was in high school, but got my heart broken too many times. +Yesica1993 Yea, it is really complex, but no one is upset if you are just there to watch it all. -Eric
The Harvest Moon is the brightest of the year.
Looks like so much fun!
+VinnytotheK It was! -Eric
ドラゴンズのファンです。日本での野球はマスコットも見所のひとつです。特にスワローズとドラゴンズのマスコットの人気が高いです。
This is like one Japanese guy went to america got drunk at a baseball time and had an amazing time, then he came back and to japan and started telling people about his amazing adventures and this is what they came up with. I love Japanese baseball 行け行け福岡ソフトバンク
先週、仙台の楽天イーグルスの試合に楽しんで行きました! -E
Very cool experience guys! Yea if this was the states the opposing fans would be hurling expletives rather than compliments unfortunately lol
+iTadakimAsu85 Yea, crazy. So happy to be in Japan at the moment. -Eric
I wish I could come up with some rhyme or reason as to the order we are watching your videos but they are consistent so it seems like it doesn't really matter. As I said in another post, I never want to exit one of your videos we start watching.
The easiest way to watch them in order is via our website: kydeanderic.com
good stuff guys
+Alexander Karmaniolos Glad you enjoyed! -Eric
Have you thought about going to a volleyball game? I fallow Hisamitsu Springs games online and they seem to be like this with the cheering there too. Volleyball season started there a few weeks ago, and I think its decently popular in Japan. (I'm in Texas so i don't know for sure.)
+Hated0 Haven't been, but that sounds fun! -Eric
That first dog did not meet Costco standards. Thanks for the vid. =^^=
+Tami Hz haha, yea, can't mess with Costco hotdogs. Or their amazing pizza. Need a new membership. Haha. -Eric
Don't know if this was asked before. Is there tipping in Japan? Like those Beer Girls do you tip them?
+Chris Lim Nope, never tip. -Eric
Tipping is rude in Japan.
You don't need to tip in Japan. The only people you tip is to the hostess at a ryokan (Japanese style hotel)
Do you also edit your recorded live sound? if it's raw, your camera has a good microphone. Your voices are clear even in noisy area.
+Koto Nizna Yep, the mics work really well! -Eric
K & E: Did you walk to the stadium or was it a train ride? I greatly enjoyed the game experience, but your fans also love to share your traveling experience.
Much love from Texas,
Patron Bob
We walked from where Kyde works!
I recommend you go to Koshien to watch High School Baseball, it's really fun and interesting as well.
We have heard that before! Sounds like fun! -E
I LOOOOOVE your videos. You two look like so much fun. I will also take some of that octopus that you had Kyde. Takoyagi ? Like I know how to spell that lol. Sounds delicious though. I also love the respect aspect of it all. :)
It's also nothing like that here at any sporting events , unfortunately .
+tina-marie Ayer Glad you enjoy the videos! Takoyaki is scary! Hahaha. -Eric
That hot dog made me give you a huge like! Loved the video!
+Samantha Garcia Haha, that hot dog is a winner! A winner wiener! -Eric
Chiba rotte marines cheering song inJapan baseball team.
Please try to go there to because it is a very good.
Only in Japan do you get sauce udders and umbrella cheering
Also those keg backpacks are awesome. They need those in more places.
+Hayley M Haha, for sure. I kinda want one of those backpacks full of apple juice. I could make Kyde wear it at home. -Eric
Okomomiyake is Yam!
Oh my god new life goal: Become Tokyo Swallows' head beer girl. Also, check out the dude at 7:56 dual-wielding the umbrellas, that's a hardcore fan right there
Also I much prefer Japanese baseball to American, if your team loses in America you don't cheer for each other, you start a riot and it sucks
+closetwarrior Hahaha, I also want to be a beer girl! Get rock solid legs from all those stairs! -Eric
That looks like fun--gotta put this on my list for my next trip to Japan.
Unrelated question: Do you guys have to pay taxes or into their version of Social Security, etc?
+JJ from Honolulu Yep, if you work here you pay taxes! -E
Cool T-shirt's Eric!

+Tyler Sinsheimer To be fair it was covered in seaweed and wasabi, hahaha. -Eric
Amazing how polite and civilized the fans behave....even with alcohol in their system!
+Timothy Nguyen Haha, it's very Japanese -Eric
Yakult swallows VS Chunichi Dragons!
I almost spit out my drink is laughter at the weenier part. Lol
So I heard that in Japanese baseball, each member of the team has their own cheer. Is this true? Did you happen to hear anything like that while watching the game?
+AnimeStarwind Yep, we saw exactly that! Not sure why we didn't mention it, haha. Whoops. -Eric
My favorite osaka hanshin tigers
甲子園、見に行って楽しいよ
Fans are most definitely not that polite to each other in America, at least en masse. Most people are not mean to each other, but between some team's fanbases there is downright animosity.
+KPruchE99 Haha, yea, that's what I had picked up from people in the States. -Eric
Try making ebiyaki. It's really good and melts in your mouth
+ghaida h Yea, had, it love it! -Eric
Also something I notice in your videos, the Japanese tend to keep their eyes away from your camera lens. In America, people would look directly at it or even make a face just because a camera is there. Is direct eye contact not a thing in Japan?
+KPruchE99 Haha, funny you mention that. When we go to America now it feels like everyone is staring at us. -Eric

Eric's hot dog is about the same size as IKEA's 50 cent hot dog in the states. Are those seats comfortable without the back support?
+Umberto Calvini haha, yea, I would't say they were super comfy. -Eric
They do interview the team after the game in America.
+fmcginnis08 Ah, cool! Didn't know! -Eric
+Kyde and Eric btw, love your guy's videos!
Strange the stadium seats have no backs.
+Jon Lenvik Agreed! -E
I'm not sure what happened when I tried to watch this. The vision appeared to be in slow motion and the sound wasn't coordinated - it went normal speed.
File is fine on our side, try refreshing your browser.
+Kyde and Eric Yes, that works. Baseball is not very big in Australia so I have no comparison. +Peter Foss Yea, that seems really civilized compared to what goes on in the states. -Eric
The behavior at a baseball game seems quintessentially Japanese. I kinda want to go to a game just to experience it (like you, I am not a big sports fan).
Eric, what the heck was that sausage at 9:49?!? It looks kind of shocking!!!
+VRRV Hhahaha, I dunno man. -Eric

Didn't even notice!
+lbonini1gaming Small tsunamis are called waves...
Joe Blow Apologies, I meant to type something else and accidentally left the small in.

Hay dude that's only 1/2 a hot dog .....Thou should protest ........;-)
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Yakult a drink?
+SuperUltraRollingBomberThunderCorporation
You are correct. Yakult is the name of drink and of the company that sells it. In Japan, the name of baseball team is combine the team's hometown name and the company's name that owns the team and the team's original name.

+hocuspocusjokerride Haha, funny. -Eric

+Ed Asy Haha.

Im guessing you are probably more popular with westerners on youtube than japanese but do you ever get people coming up to you that recognize you?
+Designandrew Sometimes. -Eric
Wieners and mustard = good. Wieners with ketchup and mustard = you just destroyed that.
What if you consider we just added wieners and mustard to our ketchup to make it better? Haha. -E

Too many jokes here to even begin commenting..... also, this makes me want to watch Mr. Baseball. Somehow Tom Selleck in Japan seems alright...
+Joe Blow Haha, I have Japanese friends who are flat out offended by that movie. -Eric
That hot dog looked liked an Eric bite and a half. Next time just bring bread from home and go to the wiener vendor : )
+Oukoyami Yea, good idea! -Eric
