Yeah I live in independence and my property taxes went up 1k. It’s pretty insane how corrupt it is. I just saw also frank white is trying to get rid of the lawsuit against Jackson county
He’s trying to get them to drop the current lawsuit that waives the property tax increase for last year because of how much funding the school districts would lose.
I moved to Manhattan Ks last year. I love going to KC and it’s by far my favorite big city in the US. It checks so many boxes from entertainment, sports, history, great nightlife and yes, world’s greatest bbq. Every big city has its problems but you really can feel civic pride when you go there.
I moved here just over a year ago. For me, the highway system sucks and everybody is in a rush and drives fairly reckless. Aside from that, I really like KC. We got some nice golf courses
@@TF-Times I typically drive hwy 71. It has stoplights and people always cut me off. Taxes are so corrupt here that the state tax commission is suing Jackson County. The politicians taxes on their own houses don’t go up much but their surrounding neighbors went up exponentially. I live outside of KC but still in Jackson county and my property taxes have doubled in the four years I’ve owned my house. My property value went up almost 100k in that time, but I know if I sold tomorrow I wouldn’t get that kind of money for it.
I’m honestly just curious because how can this place produce two of the best guys ever, Jason Sudeikis and Paul Rudd? Is there something in the water? In the barbecue?
Nobody really wants to live in KC. Nobody chooses it. We're all here because we have jobs or family here. KC is "good enough". That's really the best that can be said.
@@tomw.6757 I travel all over and I came to kc a few years back. My wife and I don't ever plan on leaving honestly. Central to the entire US. Good cost of living. Mix of southern hospitality and social culture. Great schools and areas to raise children in a somewhat open and community environment safely. The highway system here is awesome btw, yes there's congestion points that need to be fixed, but I can consistently get from one corner of the burbs to the next in 30 minutes flat. Crazy mobility which makes it fun to take a quick jaunt from blue spings to briarcliff for a nice ritzy dinner here and there without hassle.
It’s not that it’s split by two states. It’s that there’s a Kansas City Kansas and a Kansas City Missouri. Much of what I discuss applies to both, but when I talk about city services it’s mainly KCMO that I’m referencing. I did a video a few weeks back about the differences of both sides of the state line if you’re interested.
@@movingtokcit's not that it's split by two states and then you say it's there is a KC Kansas and KC Missouri lololol....how did you disagree and agree at the same time....nice work 😁✌️
Where the F were those trash bins when i lived there?! Two bags? Yeh n had to put out morning of or else racoons would tear your bags apart leaving a massive mess. Trash tags i had to buy from grocery store to allow my household to put out additional bags. That part SUCKED! Otherwise KC was fine. Traffic was great for a metro area. In STL now and its awful. Would never talk any of my friends out of moving to KC. Great place!
KCMO. Although you won’t find much for that price in Midtown/Brookside/Waldo. There are a lot of homes priced sub $100k on the East side that skew the numbers.
Small town USA is still where it's at. Anything in the city or surrounding suburbs is going to be more expensive. Even the ghetto in the city is more expensive than small/rural towns. Edit: In my rural town you can get a place for 100k. A nice place for double that.. and there's a few factories in town that are just about always hiring.
We really, REALLY need rail-based mass transit here. We need our own version of DART, BART, METRA, etc. The street car is nice, but everyone has those AND they are subject to traffic issues.
That'll never happen because for it to be really useful it would need to cross into KS, and especially Johnson County. Johnson County will NEVER make it easier for poor and/or brown people to visit.
I moved to Davies County from the US Virgin Islands after my wife passed. Ignore technology and one would think they were transported to the 70s. Cost of living is very affordable, kids ride bicycles, no wokeness, excellent schools etc. People find peace here.
I live in Wichita instead, i be out there atleast twice a month, harsh truth, its the dirtiest place I've visited so far in US especially Independence. Its Horrible man 🤮🤮
I always wanted to move to a city where the biggest news is that they now have trash bins. Welcome to finally entering the 20th Century. KC, not interested.

Shootings every night, full of crime, lack of high paying jobs that have all left to the denser Kansas suburbs

Do you assist with finding apartments?
We do not, but I have a list of apartments on my website www.movingtokc.net/resourceguide

Steve Carrell as well
The tax is for the great services we have... And then there's those pot holes. Nope... Not convincing me.
Evidently you haven't done much driving here there are so many roads that are major bad shape that they haven't touched it's far worse than you
But still tax you for. 1%
That's a 1% "EARNINGS" tax...If you live OR work in KCMO you pay 1% on your earnings. If you live AND work outside KCMO it doesn't apply.
So whats the total tax if you work and live in kcmo or kcks? Im from houston tx area. And stationed at fort riley. We are thinking of moving to kcmo.
Yeah, and the City just ignores tax refund requests for teleworking time even if your accountant sends the request
@@14samueld If you work or live in KCMO there is a 1% "earnings tax"...If you earn $55k a year..and you "Live or Work" in KCMO you pay $550 a year..

What's funny is back in the good old days they used to call Detroit the "Paris of the Midwest".
Ironically, Detroit and Paris both have a common problem now.
