Hi Sarah! Well I do love (no pun intended) to decorate for Valentine's Day and now even more! l especially liked your DIY vintage ideas. My late mother had the busts of the girl and boy and I am using them this year for the first time. They are beautiful and probably at least 50 years old. I put them in a large wood lantern (there's no glass) and they are gazing at each other. I can't believe after all this time, it just now dawned on me to put them out for Valentine's Day. I had a good laugh at your kid's saying it was Singles Awareness Day! My daughter used to say my decorating only reminded her even more that she didn't have a boyfriend! Hah! You're right....we do need a lot more love right now in this world. Thanks for all your work on this! I've already watched it twice and will probably do so again! Please do another for Easter!!!
My valentines day is a romantic, French, lace, crystals, white, creams, brooches, candles and flowers ... Beautiful video Thank you Ps I forgot I always host a nice dinner, for husband, daughter, mom and I and dressing 👗cute is a must ...
Thank you for the paper tassel idea! I took some paper floral napkins that I had and separated the layers and made 2 different tassels. One was the colored flowers and the other was white backing. Didn't have any tape but found some ribbon in my stash that worked. I loved using what I had and figured out how to make it. Thank you again for all your inspiration on all things home!
My favorite…not so much “what” you made but how you shopped your house, put limits on what you were willing to do, and did simple, sweet things in a livable manner. You have great inspirational ideas that help me think outside the box. Thanks for all the hard work! We are blessed by it. PS, I think you must have THE BEST thrift shops anywhere! I’ve never seen anything in our shops like what you find at the prices you find.
Very sweet. I have a collection of old heart cookie cutters that I toss in a flat wire basket on my kitchen island. Closer to the day, I’ll fill it with cookies….made with the cutters. 💕😊
Great job! I decorate with 1900’s love letters and old books from an antique store wrapped in old French ribbons. I have pretty mercury hearts in red, pink and silver that I hang in my kitchen windows and put more into ironstone bowls through out my home. I also use pink and white milk glass. I love decorating each holiday, my mother who has passed did and it’s a tribute to her! 💌❤️🩹💞
I like how it appears you limited the spaces you decorated. I like the idea of a small nod to Valentine's Day without being overblown through the whole house. Small, sweet, and softly romantic. Beautiful!
I rarely decorate for Valentines Day because I don’t like the bright, child like offerings. You nailed it. Thank you for sharing your ideas. My favorites were the little envelopes, the re paper cones and your choice of florals.
Yes...valentines is least favorite "holiday"...but love blush pinks and the soft feminine touches I throw around the house during January. If course. I have to counter that with superbowl and football decor first of Feb! Lol. I am fortunate to have my grandparents love letters from the 30s. I tie them up in string and they make the prettiest decor! Loved all of your ideas!
Love your decor! For the last few years my husband and I go to an antique store to find vintage or antique Valentine’s cards/post cards for each other. They already have someone else’s message and signatures on them. They get a second life for the original sender so long ago, and we always come up with a sweet or funny story about the previous sender and receiver.
Glad this popped up for me again this year, triggered an old memory that was bittersweet. When I was little, my Mom repainted an old desk in a vintage red and used some sort of stain or wax over it to darken it and age it more. It was a bear of a project as I remember. I wish she was still around so I could ask her...why red, why vintage, LOL!! It was early 70s and I don't think it even moved with us when we moved in '73 after all that work. But the finish looked just like your chair and the moment I saw that I was transported back. Wish I had thought about it during her last year and had asked her about it. She was always so crafty and making things for our home, reupholstering furniture, made all of our dresses, just amazing. Thank you ❤️
Another classy video. I too hate the cartoonish decor of most valentines decor. Everyone not looking for the teen decor and gifts. Love “national singles awareness day”. Thank you for doing the work to show people how you can celebrate this day in an affordable and classy way.
I am now a reformed believer in beautiful Valentines decor, I too thought it was tacky and never decorated, but as usual you made it look soft, romantic and fun!!!! Thanks for sharing and Happy Valentine’s Day❤️🇨🇦
Great video. I printed out some vintage Valentines on card stock and glued them to a dowel an inserted them in wooden thread spools. I also left out some of my red Christmas balls and tied some valentine ribbon on the balls. ❤️❤️❤️
As far as decor goes, I think St. Valentine's Day is just like any other. If you prefer vintage items, they can be found for all holidays. I have a collection of vintage Valentine cards (some mass produced and some handmade) and they are all very soft images with none of the garish quality of modern things. But, it might help people enjoy the holiday more if they learned its origins (which really had little to do with romantic love) by studying Saint Valentine and his life. There is one story of his life in which a yellow crocus plays a large part so that would be an historically correct representation of the holiday that I imagine few know about. I appreciate you always encouraging a timeless and less wasteful approach to enjoying holidays and our homes. Thank you!
Great video. I grab vintage crepe paper whether I see it in blush, cream, white and use it to make old-school valentine decor...instant charm. Also white cotton kitchen string is another instant vintage trick. No plastic or brights for this vintage girl. Thanks Sarah!
I agree with what you said about quality of Valentine’s Day decor! Just having beautiful florals and keeping a more neutral palette (whites, greens, beige tones, pine cones) from now until spring is the way I went this year. Cozy and simple. Love the idea of mixing in more peach and muted feminine colors
What about Groundhog Day? It mark's the middle of Winter. Whenever if fell on a Saturday I tried to make a big deal of it for my children, and it was fun. They are all grown up now but they still remember the fun traditions that were created.
I so loved all the projects. My favorite was the bags you cut and punched as it was so creative. I am not a big fan of traditional V. day however my girls turned it into a National Holdiay in my home due to my wedding anniversary being on that day. We are all about the vintage look.
Beautiful…Classy…Romantic…Vintage!!! Could not be anything better! Love how you used items in your home and everything else was easily attainable and affordable! Cannot wait to use some of these ideas. Have a baby girl shower coming up that many of these items will be perfect for!
This was the most beautiful valentines decor I’ve ever seen. I’m not a Valentine’s fan myself as far as decorating but I’d definitely wouldn’t mind this decor in my home.
I never liked Valentine's Day or its decor either. I always thought it was tacky until recent years. I've found more than anything my kids are always looking for something to celebrate haha, so Ive played with decor lately and I must say, its really been kind of a fun transition in that space after Christmas and Spring when you're not quite sure what to do. We have really enjoyed it. Great video thank you!
I loved all the ideas! I have a white branch tree sitting on a table in our living room then I have printed out Bible verses about love and have them hanging off the branches with ribbon. My kids are out of the house now but I like to do it to show my husband how I try to love him like Jesus.
Thank you for all of your inspiring, thoughtful ideas for Valentine's Day! We've tried to focus on the Judeo-Christian history of Saint Valentine, rather than the Roman interpretations, for the kids' sakes especially. It really is a holiday to celebrate "agape" love, rather than romantic, and all of your ideas, finds, talents and efforts are timeless reminders of the caring and love we have for all of our fellow human beings.
I liked the envelopes tied with string. I do a little decorating for most holidays. I have an adult special needs daughter who is very into the calendar and all special days on it. 😁 My home is set up for winter with lovely blues and whites with snowflakes. I live in a cold winter area. I will add pops of things for valentine's day and then st Patrick's day. Not changing anything over until spring/Easter. Too much work. Your projects are always inspiring and lovely, TFS.
Very original ideas. Loved the different household, dollar tree and thrift store transformations rather than the off the shelf plastic Valentines offerings. Video was jammed pack with unique ideas. TFS
I'm inspired for Valentine's Day, and yes, I agree with what your kids said about National Single Awareness Day 😉 My favorite was a toss-up between the tassels and the envelopes.
This inspired me to decorate for winter with white and vintage red, add green for Christmas then, replace the green with dusty pink for Valentine’s Day. Thank you!
Certainly a classy version to the holiday, sadly I’m one of those singles that haven’t enjoyed the day as part of a couple for a while. But I secretly love the day, doesn’t have to be a day of romance but to share love to those you care about 💌
Loved all your creations- but what I loved the most was your adorable Valentine’s outfit- the pinky red lace top, red ring and pink lipstick- so vintage and sweet! ❤️❤️💕
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these!! I'm so jealous of that throw!!! LOL!!! Love the tassels, they are adorable! I have always wanted some red transfer ware, it reminds me of the bed and breakfast we stayed in for our honeymoon. Every morning, those beautiful plates and teacups sat out beside an amazing breakfast hot out of the oven and the most delicious teas!!!
Oh my goodness, what a DARLING video!!! Thank you so much for all the hard work!! I can't wait to see what you decided to share for Easter!! I love the sprinkling of ideas and crafts and am SO grateful for the lack of plastic-y junk!!! Have a great weekend!! :)
Love these ideas! If you use caining again in a project, soak it a bit first and then bend it the direction you want. Use a clothes pin to hold it in a circle the way you want it to bend. Let it dry that way and it will be so much easier to use.
I looked up Vintage Valentines on Pinterest and printed out my favorite images. I hung them on a vintage red velvet ribbon with miniature clothespins, and it came out so cute! I like to throw a Valentine’s Day tea party for my friends, and those vintage Valentine images are always a hit!
I loved all of your designs!! I really love the softness of colors❣️. Some beautiful ideas. Thank you for putting your time and love in all. Happy Valentines Day❣️💕💕💕
Beautiful! I loved these ideas. So much better than the usual tacky valentine decorations. I am really looking forward to a similar Easter decor video.
Loooove this! Definitely do one for Easter! Spring is my favorite season 🌷 and also I would definitely also spend $20 on that blanket! Totally worth it.
I am recently single so of course was going to skip right over Valentines Day, but the things you created were so pretty, why not do something just for me. Thank you for sharing such wonderful ideas.
I’ve never decorated specifically for Valentines Day. I always had treats for the family but that was about it. And maybe a funky cake. Your Valentines decorations were lovely. I liked the blanket and the balloons best! Have a great rest of your day and God bless you
Forgot to mention the cute little cards with the bakers twine and postage stamping. Still love to send and receive cards in the mail. Those are true vintage.
Marvelous! I do not like the typical valentine decorations either and usually don't do any decorating. This has inspired me! I will shop my house. I have lots of things to choose from. Thank you
Your ideas are vintage perfect! I rarely decorate Valentines Day for the same reason. Your romantic vintage, elegant Valentines Day decor is a breathe of fresh air that we need in February 🌺🌸🌺 Chelli
Firecrackers were so British. 😍
My son was born on Valentines Day so it’s a favorite day for me!

Thank you, thank you, for keeping this day vintage!!!
My hubby is a romantic so I have to decorate for Valentines - I am blessed I guess - great ideas - I use so much black and pale pink - TFI
Thank you for the paper tassel idea! I took some paper floral napkins that I had and separated the layers and made 2 different tassels. One was the colored flowers and the other was white backing. I totally agree; that's why I enjoy her so much! By the way, hi, Fanny......~Nikki E.
Thanks for taking the tacky out of valentinesday!
Very sweet. I have a collection of old heart cookie cutters that I toss in a flat wire basket on my kitchen island. Closer to the day, I’ll fill it with cookies….made with the cutters. 💕😊

What beautiful ideas!! They all make valentines more exciting to celebrate ❤️❤️.
Your vignettes are so beautiful! Reminds me of Victoria Magazine! Very romantic!
Yes! That is definitely the way to make Valentine's Day less tacky and more elegant.
Loved it. This is so much better than the traditional. You are so inspiring.

Best valentine display ever. You continue to a amaze me. Your mind must never rest . All of these are gorgeous
You could drip the wax on parchment paper instead of wax paper. I loved this video.
Great video. I printed out some vintage Valentines on card stock and glued them to a dowel an inserted them in wooden thread spools. I also left out some of my red Christmas balls and tied some valentine ribbon on the balls. ❤️❤️❤️

I love the mailbox idea and the chair you painted. I also like the name: National Singles Awareness Day. Lol
I love the cupcakes & cookies. I’m crazy for hearts. I dislike the garish treatment of valentines decor & cards. I love what you did.
Love everything you do! You should definitely do something similar for Easter.
I loved everything!!! Can’t wait until your next video!
This was the most beautiful valentines decor I’ve ever seen. I’m not a Valentine’s fan myself as far as decorating but I’d definitely wouldn’t mind this decor in my home.

You have such an artistic mind
Love this video
My fav was the lace screen! It elevates the decor so much to have special items that act as backdrops.
I have always avoided this tacky holiday. But as always, you turned it into a beautiful display of something to be remembered... thank you
You are so welcome!

Love, love, love. The entire esthetic was beautifully presented A+ . Valentines Done right
I love the chair. I’m not a bright red fan. I love the darker reds, barn red, burgundies.

Beautiful, subtle decor for Valentine's day. I loved it. Very inspiring. Thank you and bless you for all your hard work!!
My favorite? All 14. Love the idea of soft pinks.
I loved all of your sweet Valentine’s Day ideas! So refreshing after all of the bright neon red and pink!
You had some very sweet ideas! It did look like a lot of work, but it was enjoyable to see different things from the usual Valentine decor.
So lovely and a true Valentines refresh…Thank You ! 🥰
My favorite is how you made it soft, fun, and elegant. Thanks so much.💗
You are so welcome!
So cute and pretty for Valentines. I do not do much decorating for this day. Fun watching!
All of the items are adorable! Such a gentle touch is a special reminder and that is so beautiful. I enjoy the way you approached the day.
