As a VERY elderly lady just downsizing from our family home to an apartment, you are encouraging me to re-think my environment. I love your clean and inviting look - this is my daughter’s style, too! I have a soap saver that was my Gramma’s (I used it as a little girl when I helped her wash dishes!) that will fit beautifully with my new decorating. Thank you for so sweetly encouraging us - even ladies of my age! - and helping us think outside the box!! (About the soap saver - there was no dish soap at that time so you saved last bits of bars of soap and put them in the soap saver. Then you swished it in your dishwater to make suds for washing dishes. I was the “swisher”!)
I have a Cuban mop that I absolutely love, and it definitely has a look of rustic cuteness to me. If you haven’t seen one before, you’ll have to do a web search to see what I mean. I love the fact that I can use a standard sized dish towel with it, rather than trying to find the correct size of washable mop head, and it was incredibly reasonable.
I love this idea! I'm going to paint my laundry room that is actually the room that everyone comes in from outside and it's off my kitchen. I always hated that it was the first room everyone seen when they entered my home. This gives me so many ideas to make it pretty. Funny story: when my boys were kids they loved playing in the woods by my house. One day they were digging a hole in the woods to make a fort when they started digging up garbage. Not just any garbage but very old garbage. They dug up several old amber Clorox bleach bottles and some of them even had the lids. I gifted several to friends and kept one for myself. Maybe I should go back out there and do a little digging to see if I find anymore. 😂 We've lived in this house for 28 years now.
Love this! I’m glad to know I’m not alone in wanting even my cleaning supplies to look good and fit my decor. Here’s a typical example of conversation between my husband and I about it- Him: “Why did you want to pick that broom?” Me: “Because it’s pretty.” Him: “It’s a broom.” Me: “But it’s a pretty broom.”
Vinegar bottles, especially the little ones, work wonderfully for cleaning solutions. And the spray nozzles from the Dollar Tree plastic spray bottles fit on the glass vinegar bottles!
I love the eco friendliness of real bristle, natural agents, and chemical- free cleaning supplies. How many plastic bottles does one need? They linger in landfills for hundreds of years . Thanks for a lovely video .
Sarah. I love this video. My laundry room is open and exposed to my kitchen (it sits in a back hallway opposite of the first floor bath). I’ve been on the hunt for some glass or really nice containers I can place on shelves about my washer/dryer to hold all my tide pods, etc. I even purchased a set of vintage style labels from Etsy that I can attach and some ribbon that I can tie into bows on some containers. It’s actually looking quite nice and I’m not embarrassed by it anymore
I got one of those glass lemonade gallon dispensers that I use for my liquid laundry detergent. I also have the glass cookie jar type canisters for my Borax, Oxi clean, etc. ( Hillary of “Old World Home” has them on her kitchen counter for flour, sugar, etc.)
Running up and down the stairs is never a waste of time. It is great exercise. I moved from a house with 3 floors to a ranch style and I was shocked by how it impacted my fitness level.
I was so inspired by this video: got me a new broom and pan, a plumeau and a metal caddy, so my cleaning will be much more stylish elevated. And that’s what we want. Thank you for the tips and inspiration to do even the most normal things in a stylish way!
This was full of lovely ideas. I'd add aprons and other linens like napkins and table cloths the and rugs for kitchen items. I use a small glass tray in our bathroom for toothbrushes and soap. I use a caddy for seeds and laundry items. I use woven baskets for holding our party supplies and paper goods. Finding a rope mop might be nice but it's not as practical as the spin or self twisting mops. Bamboo toothbrushes etc (we're still using plastic but like the idea of the Bamboo.) I make my own crocheted dishcloths and it's one of my favourite hostess gifts for friends because I find them so handy. I'm having a hard time finding the cotton yarn in Australia though. Xx
Sarah, this video was such fun! We all have to use tools in our daily lives & your ideas and examples have inspired me to up my game throughout the house! Thank you for the pictures, links, & sources!
I’m obsessed with vintage looking work brushes! I have been looking for a vegetable scrubber. I never thought of Amazon.🤦🏻♀️ I love using glass bottles with my homemade essential oil cleaners but what I find frustrating is that the sprayers go bad then I’m stuck with finding a new sprayer the same size. I also use the plain plastic bottles. I also use assorted canning jars to hold everything from clothespins, dryer balls, and soaps to oatmeal and flour. I enjoyed this video so much!
Target has cute silicone sleeves that fit perfectly on the bottom of the amber/ clear colored spray bottles. They protect the bottles from breakage and they come in multiple colors
I would also add hanging aprons. Beautiful on the pegs, like you suggested, and can add some beautiful seasonal color. Such a beautiful video. Thank you for the ideas!
I love the wooden box your son made you! I like it so much better than the metal inspiration piece, mostly because he made it for you but wood is just so warm and nice. I am looking for a new caddy for my cleaning supplies and I did not consider wood, but I think I will and then line it with some plastic to catch all the moisture. Beautiful video!🧹🧺
I like to label my cleaning products with old school writing paper (like the kind in kindergarten) then I write the name of the product in cursive and make it a sticker with box tape, cutting the edges straight & leaving a little edge to stick it. Looks super cute, especially if you’re like me and like old school room things.
Loved the video. I knitted everyone I know dish rags for Christmas they love them. I start knitting over my holiday break for the next year. Once a person uses them they don’t want to use anything else
Mr. Clean sells white kitchen gloves! Found them on Amazon one day… ❤️ all these ideas! Beautiful ideas and suggestions. These small touches make me enjoy the cleaning process! I can’t do it all at once…but that’s part of the fun. 🥰
I love the look. I've used many of these items. Now I'll have to find the place to arrange them. Dish clothes - I practice my crochet and knitting patterns. It is a portable project.
Way back when, I used cloth diapers for all of my children (who are now full grown adults). “Pre-fold” referred to the type of diaper I used. When they outlived the baby’s needs, I had a nice supply of cleaning rags. They don’t get as full of lint as other types of cloth. Love your ideas, always. I’m getting the itch to do some cleaning now- after I take down the Christmas decorations!😂❤️
Happy new year Sarah. Had a loss at the end of the year so good to be back and hear your sweet voice. Have been been catching up .... The blooper reel give me a good laugh. Who doesn’t need tips to encourage house cleaning Ha. Thank you for all you do to keep us all encouraged.
Such a great start to my Saturday morning....I love that you found a good use for the tote your son made you and the vintage brooms! I've been on the hunt for a vintage broom for some time but never thought to look at homegoods. Thanks for sharing such great ideas!
I so love these items!!!!! I have amber old bottles I found in our yard!! Underground actually!!! I love your idea of reuse for them!! Thank you Sarah for sharing your gift for design with us
Great ideas. I'm gradually replacing my old worn out cleaning supplies with more natural ones. I have been known to spray paint ugly handles on tools and cover with wood effect sticky-backed plastic/vinyl on occasion...just to make things fit in a bit better.
I have a lot of the pretty cleaning stuff already. It really does make cleaning a little more tolerable. You have a lot of good tips. The chinese prefolds look like the cloth diapers from Target that my daughter bought for my grand twins. They used them for burp cloths and lovies. It was a great muti purpose cloth and if a lovey was lost it was easy to grab another. As my granddaughter got older she even dyed them pink for her.
I probably won’t be making a caddy any time soon, but here is a fun tutorial that might help you! www.myrepurposedlife.com/diy-wooden-caddy-reclaimed-fence-chair/
Another way to create labels is with a Cricut machine. I have used the permanent white vinyl on my amber bottles for my dish soap and hand soap in the kitchen. The white pops and looks really nice on the amber.

Peg rail is an old idea. It was popular in the 80s and then went out of style. I am glad it is back. But it is much older than the 80s. I am going to research this. Would love to know how far back it goes. Colonial days??
My SIL knits dishcloths like the ones you showed, and she has gifted me with many of them, just beautiful, but I find they will never dry overnight. Any tricks for drying them? I love the way you incorporate beauty into everything you do. I am working on that, part of which is changing my way of thinking. Thanks Sarah for all you do for us!!!
Hmmm. I'm sorry I don't have any tips! I guess I never noticed either way. We use them so fast and add them to the wash, and that has been working fine for us!
Our gabled home uses a wooden broom that doubles as a mop with a cloth wrapped over it, it's really neat. It's concept is similar to a wooden cuban mop. I'm curious to know if that's an old school method from Germany or where she got it. I picked up a 1 gallon galvanized bucket from family home & farm. Bonus idea: aprons!
Lehman's Amish Store (based in Ohio) sells online ... some of the most beautiful basic cleaning supplies!! Wood, glass, natural bristles, galvanized metal, etc.
@@SheHoldsDearly You’re welcome. I think if you have a look through their site you’ll find lots of stuff to ♥️. I’ve got a few things on my list for future birthday ideas.
I really like the wooden caddies, especially the one that your son made for you (love the green paint, but leaving the handle natural). My favorite thing is using old bottles to hold cleaning solutions. I have a small collection of old bottles on a shelf in my kitchen window. ❤
I notice little whisk brooms hanging on the pegs in all the shots. I matched my broom and dust pan when I first moved into my house in a black and white design and I can’t find a new set that I like. I have large baskets too!
Sarah, this is top notch!!! I love when you do videos with so many accessable sources! Sometimes, since I'm primarily homebound, not being able to go out and 'look around' can seem like such a hurdle to creating a beautiful space. This video seriously bridged that gap! Thank you!!! And it's perfect for our kitchen edit this month, of course! 😉 Thank you for all you do! ❤️
Great video as I'm always wanting ideas on making my cleaning supplies look nice. I love the wooden caddy and I know my husband can make me one. Nice supplies make you want to clean I believe!
I would also include a handle broom/brush with a small dust pan, sometimes the larger brooms still lets dust and debris escape going to the pan. There’s plenty of nice looking ones that are handmade, since a lot of companies and thrift stores keep upping the prices, might as well put your money to good use and put into smaller businesses or people of the trade. I also tend to find these to look more appealing than the standard plastic tools.
Love these ideas. I’ve been working on that as well but my hubby has his own ideas and unfortunately he associates strong smelling cleaners with being clean (Working on that.).
I loved this video :) I recently went all out looking for similar items, fun cleaning items that also look beautiful. Now, I have been drawn to amber bottles ever since watching one of your videos where you were styling a shelf in your fireside room. You had a cute collection of amber bottles. I wanted to share this hack... I get my medium-size amber bottles from Pink Lady brand kombucha. I really like kombucha so, I now have quite a collection! Thanks for all of your amazing videos! I enjoy your fresh style and creative ideas. Thank you for another great video! -Audrey
Prefolds? As in diapers, LOL! Hey, whatever works. They are designed to be absorbent. Most people are probably too young to remember what cloth diapers looked like. Remember the old flour sack dishcloths? Those are great, too, for glassware. I love anything vintage glass...liked your amber bottles. 😊
Staring in the 70’s,my mom would buy the linen tea towel that hung on a string with a dowel with a pretty picture and yearly calendar. At the end of each year,it would become the new dish towel for drying. (glasses in particular) Indeed they were the best and left no lint. Since she had so many,I still have some that I use which remind me of good times in the kitchen with her.🤗 ( however, too kitschy for me to leave on display)😅😂🤣
I order microfiber cleaning cloths in different colors and keep them in a bucket in each of our four bathrooms. One color for each bathroom. Super cheap on Amazon! Get one wet and squeeze all the water out of it to clean mirrors and dust with nothing but water!
Thankyou for sharing your ideas with us...once again do very creative. Fun and practical...im gonna definitely change how I look at cleaning supplies...Fun it's gonna be. 😉 Can you share what paint and color you used on the caddy...love it....take care....❤
I love white gloves! I use Bliss Mr Clean because it has a cotton lining and protects my hands and keeps them drier. Also, I have an allergy so they are perfect. I saw them on your link as well. Love beautiful cleaning supplies, too. I got a lot of inspo from your video, thank you! My most recent addition which I happen to love is the old fashioned rug beater! Great for getting all the dust vacuums don't seem to get and also very therapeutic when I am frustrated ;P
I went to a restaurant supply store and bought “bar rags”. They are square, white, super absorbent dish cloths that bar tenders use. I especially love the “wash cloth” size because while I love a good microfiber cloth, they are always too huge to wring out constantly and let’s not even talk about those hideous neon colors. I must admit to buying a four pack of small microfiber cloths from William Senoma to use up a gift card. Even then,I nearly croaked at the price years ago. (4 for $12.00) That being said, the four pastel colored cloths were each designed for a different purpose and I still use them today. ( stainless steel, glass, etc.)
Hi Sarah! When you said 2 pts to guess what is the same in each picture, I thought it was the cute little whisk broom! They are so handy! Love the peg rail too! Also, can you tel me when to find that tall wooden shelf organizer in one of your pics? Thanks for the great ideas! 🙂
I think the tall wooden shelf you mentioned was from one of my Zara inspiration pictures, so unfortunately I don't have any more information on the source!
Oh I just found you! Sherry from Canterbury Cottage mentioned you! I'm interested in the declutter group you mentioned. Love all your ideas. So me! Thank you! Now to bing watch your videos!
Hi Bren! Welcome! You can find out more about my Design group and sign up to join the waitlist here: finding-time-to-hold-dearly.teachable.com/p/behind-the-scenes/
i enjoyed your ideas and hints for a lovelier home. I was thinking cloth basket liners would be so beautiful, i am thinking with elastic or ties to fit the baskets.
I love the idea of things being practical and beautiful. My only concerns would be a metal bucket rusting and as pretty as that mop looks, it looks like a pain to wring out. I love my mop and bucket but they’re bright red unfortunately. I also wonder how greasy those things would get hanging above the stove on the pegs. Love your channel!
I agree! My first thought seeing the items hanging above the stove was that straw basket catching fire. I like the look of the pegs in a laundry room. But my "laundry room" is a closet with just enough room for stacked front-loading washer and dryer. I have absolutely no place to hang things on pegs.
With the amber bottles I would recommend how to get more bang for your buck... Buy the hand soaps in those pretty glass bottles from the TJ Maxx or Ross for $4-5 and reuse them. They also have bath salts and many other things in them that you can reuse and it's cheaper than Amazon, even in bulk.
I love vintage looking cleaning supplies but I was wondering if you have a hack for making necessary modern supplies less ugly? I use a wetjet about twice a day on the white tile in our mudroom (not my choice) - it's super handy ... but it's PURPLE plastic. I can't find a comparable quick mop that looks pretty. I've already made my own velcro washable pads for it with thick tri-fold diapers, and I used a UA-cam hack to get the non removeable lid off the cleaner container so that I can fill it with a non toxic cleaner, but it's still ugly. Any ideas? Could it be spray painted? Thanks Sarah!
Love the idea of pegs on the wall, but have a collection of hooks that will do very nicely. I am revamping my laundry area, so your idea came at a great time for me. Do you have a source for pump or spray tops for mason jars. I would prefer the old mason jar look to the amber and other new bottles, and have a collection of some lovely ones that need a purpose. Thanks.
I love pretty cleaning supplies as well! It sometimes sways me to buy one brand over another, just by the looks of the bottle. ;-) I invested in some amber glass bottles for the products that I needed but came in ugly packaging and labeled them with the embossing label maker in black with white letters. Lime Away comes in a white spray bottle with a green and black, I think, label. I cut the label off and put an embossed label on it until my collection of amber bottles grows. ;-) Everything in my cleaning basket is white/grey/amber. Oh, and did I mention that I clean a few homes besides my own? The idea of carrying in a basket of garish colors cleaning bottles made me cringe. 😉 I find I enjoy the cleaning process far more if the things I use bring joy. Thank you for your video! I’m not alone! 😁
I desperately need the declutter!! I need reinforcement on it is OK to let go!! I just moved and I'm trying Togo through and box up for donations. After about 2 hours I feel so overwhelmed

You're among good company here. :)
Lol same!!
Aprons are always beautiful 2
My mother practiced new knitting patterns with making dish clothes. She passed in 2016 and I still enjoy using the ones she made.
Vinegar bottles, especially the little ones, work wonderfully for cleaning solutions. And the spray nozzles from the Dollar Tree plastic spray bottles fit on the glass vinegar bottles!

Love all the ideas and you're right about the prices at thrift stores being higher. It's the same at estate sales.
I LOVE that you have a cleaning caddy for each of your children! Brava mom!🙌🏻
Bamboo toothbrushes etc (we're still using plastic but like the idea of the Bamboo.)
I make my own crocheted dishcloths and it's one of my favourite hostess gifts for friends because I find them so handy. I'm having a hard time finding the cotton yarn in Australia though.

I love that caddy your son made you, so glad you’re using it! Great color too!

All my favorite things! Available vintage too.
Such amazing ideas! I’ve really been into this lately and even found a wooden Amish broom this summer!
A cute broom is a great ideal.

I think you should have bleached the caddy, just my thoughts. I did a dresser with it and it turn out awesome all the orange wood was gone
This is me 100%!! Thank you for this video. I love your creativity ❤️❤️
I notice little whisk brooms hanging on the pegs in all the shots.
I matched my broom and dust pan when I first moved into my house in a black and white design and I can’t find a new set that I like.
I have large baskets too!
I love your ideas, you are so classy!
Love your ideas, I try and stay away from plastic, bad for the environment.
Thank you for all you do! ❤️
You are so welcome!
Sarah, I Loved the tips & the way you displayed them.✨🤎✨
Great ideas!! Love that cleaning supplies can be attractive and beautiful in your space. Thanks for sharing.
Great video as I'm always wanting ideas on making my cleaning supplies look nice. I love the wooden caddy and I know my husband can make me one. Nice supplies make you want to clean I believe!
I've been looking for the embossed label maker and couldn't find it! So thank you, I just ordered it !! 🤗
I put strong smelling essential oils like peppermint/ tea tree in my natural cleaning products.

Love that you can repurpose your bottles!
Great ideas once again! Thank you!
Still waiting on a video on Primitives. 😉😊
Thank you! Ooooh, I just read a library book called "New Americana" that you might like! by Holly Kuhn.
@@SheHoldsDearly I will look it up. Thank you!
Inspiring video! I especially loved the wall baskets!
Everything you do is my favorite!
I order microfiber cleaning cloths in different colors and keep them in a bucket in each of our four bathrooms. One color for each bathroom. Super cheap on Amazon! Get one wet and squeeze all the water out of it to clean mirrors and dust with nothing but water!
Great tip!
I used Chinese prefold diapers for my now 30 year old son and they were truly wonderful.
Thankyou for sharing your ideas with us...once again do very creative. Fun and practical...im gonna definitely change how I look at cleaning supplies...Fun it's gonna be. 😉
Can you share what paint and color you used on the caddy...love it....take care....❤
You're so welcome! The paint is called Boxwood by Miss Mustard Seed.
So me! Thank you! Now to bing watch your videos!

i enjoyed your ideas and hints for a lovelier home. I was thinking cloth basket liners would be so beautiful, i am thinking with elastic or ties to fit the baskets.
I have found a few at thrift shops and garage sales that were Longaberger which fit,or close enough, which even had the holes or ties for the handles.
I got a galvanized one from a farm store, they don't rust!
Always love your videos.
This is going to inspire me to do this.
I have be slowing adding in wood handled cleaning tools and glass bottles. It does look so much better! I hate the look of plastic.
I see brooms / whisks in all of the rooms.
Hi Heather! Yes, you can spray paint the plastic that you don’t like, I have done this before!
Now adding Chinese Prefolds to my thrifting list… 😁
Love the idea of pegs on the wall, but have a collection of hooks that will do very nicely. I am revamping my laundry area, so your idea came at a great time for me. Do you have a source for pump or spray tops for mason jars. I would prefer the old mason jar look to the amber and other new bottles, and have a collection of some lovely ones that need a purpose. Thanks.
Here are some mason jar pumps amzn.to/3FFPEx1 and sprayers amzn.to/3KnjJVP!
@@SheHoldsDearly Thanks so much.
Love this video. Love your hair colour 💖 do you dye it .......if si what do you call the colour please.
I do, it's called Cinnamon Brown.

Can you share where your top is from? It’s so pretty!
Here is the blouse, but I’m not seeing that particular pattern anymore. amzn.to/3IgHxc5
Hi Sarah I don’t see the blog post you mentioned listing maybe I have overlooked it? I love ❤️ your home and style.
I'm sorry about that, here is Liz Marie's Peg Rail Tutorial www.lizmarieblog.com/2021/02/cottage-style-diy-peg-rail/
I find I enjoy the cleaning process far more if the things I use bring joy.
Thank you for your video! I’m not alone! 😁
Love it!
I love your channel.....
Glad you enjoy it!
Remember to be inclusive! Some sons may want to make the dish cloths.
