  • Somehow I sorta kinda knew about Rogue Trooper before ever getting this book. Not sure how either.
Perhaps there were ads for him back in some of the old Fleetway/Quality comics that were coming to the States? I know my brother had quite a few issues that Bisley drew.
The painted Bisley style was all the rage around the time this was published, and we were fully on board in our household. Being edgy teens, we need edgy reading material, and in the days before the internet, the edgiest comic that was readily available was obviously Heavy Metal.
How this ended up in Heavy Metal... I'm still not sure. But it did. I can remember seeing the issue it was published in sitting in the adults only section of the bookstore we often frequented. Didn't have the guts to try and talk our parents into it at the time, but did eventually get this book when it released.
Now I'm in the mood for more old British comics!

Great video as usual. Regarding pickaxes and prospector bits. The Oathmark dwarf light infantry has some tools exactly for that. For the Stargrave : The last prospector presale they had individual sprues for sale of the dwarves just for that purpose :) Cheers!

I have a sci-fi game campaign heavily influenced by Judge Dredd among others, from Edgar Rice Burroughs to Paul Verhoeven.
Seems like I need to add some Rogue Trooper flavor.
    Thanks.

I loved Heavy Metal back in the day. Loved the movie and plus the magazine during the 80's. So many amazing stories and characters. TY for a trip down memory lane.

Hardest thing for me is all the back history. I've long enjoyed a lot of the shorter run 2000AD stories that get collected.
Perhaps I'll have to do a video on some one of these days...
