Don't forget Nemesis the Warlock! You could build a tower of corpses, My Mum sure enjoyed me doing that! (she did not).
I loved the Amiga game. Don't think I ever made it to the flying section though. My favourite part of it is Rogue Trooper's face showing his health.
linorn I don’t think anybody made it past the flying section
No checkpoint in them days lol
This is where emulating an old game wins over playing it on the actual hardware--you can usually save your state even in games which didn't originally offer that functionality!
yeah, in a lot of old games the amount of system memory the game used to RUN the whole game was less that what newer games use just to store quest progression and inventory data.
Say what you want about emulators, but the ability to add quicksaves at any time really can open up a world of older games that would otherwise be unplayable due to reasons of sanity.
+1 respect for use of the word - BELLEND.
Extra credit deserved for Scorponok in the background.
Even better, I see Blaster peeking out over Ian's shoulder
Great vid Ian. Watching you pop in the 3.5 brought back soooooo many memories of my old Apple IIc
I never played the full Amiga game, but the demo had the flying section (maybe that’s all it was) and I still randomly hum the music every now and then, even though I haven’t played or heard it since the 90’s. I didn’t know about the Speccy version so I’ll be playing that at some point.
Never played the original but ordered the new one on PS4. Reminds me of the old army men games back on ps1 which I absolutely adored growing up 😃
Fun fact; The Warhammer 40,000 table top game Initially, was to be titled just Rogue Trader, but shortly before release Games Workshop signed a contract with 2000 AD to develop a board game based on Rogue Trooper. So as not to confuse customers they changed the name adding Warhammer 40,000.
Rogue Trooper looks pretty cool actually. I'm gonna get it on GoG if it comes.
Yep it's on GOG
Robbie Cooke Time to buy it then.

My mama bought me Rogue Trooper from a Dollar General back in 06 for ps2. One of the funnest games i ever played.
A video game from a dollar store?... also funnest? That's still not a word despite so many of you trying to use it improperly.
Rebellion should hire Tom Francis and adapt his most recent brainchild Heat Signature into a proper Strontium Dog game.
Loved this one! Thanks for suffering through this unforgiving bastard.
I too still have that ZX speccy game (along with the Dredd by Melbourne house) :)
Got this on my trusty C64, the breadbin is still going strong after all these years.
I want 2000AD to do Slaine game, tv show or movie!
there was a Speccy version

Great video, I just found and played Rogue Trooper for the first time yesterday on my Commodore 64. This is a very cool game indeed, no re-spawning enemies, great atmosphere and attention to detail ;). I'm a big fan of Slaine (well, including the 8-bit game as well :D) and I have to say I become a real fan of AD 2000 stuff. Thanks for this informative video! Subscribed forever!
Man...I used to play it when I was just 7 and I didn't know the name of the game,I'm glad I found out the name
Yeah, I remember the comic book 2000 also. . . . I truly believe that this all served as inspiration for 40k. Seriously. . . .
Gosh. . . . .
Does this all mean that I'm old like you . . . . :?
I remember the comic. Bloody great mate. Nice one mate cheers buddy. ATB Andy
The title was not a clickbait, at least.
I had the amiga xcopy of Rogue Trooper. Loved it.
As long as we're drawing up a wish list, how about a new Strontium Dog game?
I bought the Amstrad version in 86. Loved it. Would like to see it ported to my phone.
I used to play the CPC464 version when i was a little lad.
The C64 version was the second game I ever bought with my pocket money #nostalgiaoverload
SpaceHopperCopter what was the first?
A shoot 'em up called Osmium, which was a bit rubbish, but I liked the music!
Very interesting, thanks for making this and suffering on our behalf with the 16 bit RT game. Had no idea about the Amiga title.
Little niggle, you could have included the Games Workshop boardgame..it's irritating when everyone assumes that 'game' equals computer title and nothing else, especially when the analogue alternatives are far better games. And 2000AD has had a long and healthy life in the non-digital gaming sphere (Warlord Games just released the Strontium Dog miniatures game at time of writing).
I still have the C64 cover. The tape sadly has vanished.
The first Rouge Trooper on my C64
Redux is a word, it means 'brought back' or 'revived'.
Damn, I wish I still had a working Amiga
"Ian, this is "games you never knew existed" and Rogue Trooper Redux is a re-master, so, of course we know Rogue Trooper existed,......you......massive.....bellend!" That cracked me up! XD
I have never been so excited to see someone slap a disk into a slot. I miss my A500. I think I need to buy one...
Love the C64 version..yes i am that old too Ian.
My favourite game on the first xbox!
is that Scorpinok in the background with the headmaster..eh...head.
Where’s the mentions for Slaine and Sinister Dexter? And damn the sound of the Amiga disk drive still makes my hair stand on end. I love my Amigas. Best home computer of that era and the OS is still better than the windows of today 😂😂😂
The boardgame is fun too.
I had the C64 game! I even finished it once.
Mate, the C64 version had 16 entire colours, not 8 like on the speccy. The C64 version was like being outside in the real world.
I want a modern Slaine the Horned God game!
I wish there was game like marvel Ultimate alliance but with 2000
A.d characters.
We need multiplayer co-op
I want a new Judge Dredd game.
yeh . we all want to bring the law in a game
Got it for Switch today ! The game is nice
Who has read the comics because they are awesome
Haha...Reminds me of the unforgiving game play of the Atari/Amiga era. Sore thumbs for days.
“Game you never knew existed” well if you’re like me, then you played it 24/7 on the Wii
I'm pretty sure playing the games featured in this video on the Wii would have been impossible! - Ian
Eurogamer Oh, well the game in particular was Rogue Trooper: Quartz Zone Massacre
But I’m not sure on the other games..
@eurogamer can you do Nemesis the Warlock c64
And this was the kind of game that made cheat codes have the power to save a developer companies name and also help to retain their following . Now we all know why cheat codes were invented :p
Fun video.
I had played rogue trooper on the old xbox
I played the first one. It was awesome. I quitted on the last mission 😂😂
I had the C64 version of Rogue Trooper, a mate of mine had Nemesis on the Spectrum and I also had the Dredd game on C64 which was a bit naff, but hey, get what you can. It's pretty baffling that Rebellion has done so little with the licence considering they bought it, amusingly enough, in the year 2000AD. Rogue Trooper and the Redux are pretty solid. Nothing ground breaking but fun enough especially if you're familiar with the character. Dredd vs Death seemed mediocre to me, and a waste of the setting for a simple fps.
Judge Dredd especially is crying out for an open-world treatment where you can push the story forward, but also just patrol MC1 dispensing justice. Also, Strontium Dog? Galaxy Hopping mutant bounty hunter with an arsenal of special weapons?
2000AD is packed full of characters and settings which would translate incredibly well to the video game format, but Rebellion just don't seem to be pushing them. Jason Kingsley, CEO of Rebellion and all round interesting guy, has opened the rights up to 3rd party developers, but that was years ago, and haven't seen much going on since then.
200th like and 2000th view, seems appropriate given the content :D
LoL. i just passed that game last night .. It was good..
Picture a rogue trooper movie.
why not make a new rogue trooper game then?
Theres more stuff in the comics you can adapt into the game.
Ps2 feelings
I played the second game actually and well remember how tough it was
Would anyone play a Rogue Trooper game that is a Contra clone ?
İ dont believe u played this for 6 hours
How play this in my phone
Justifible AS the biggest ever!
Noice
It's pronounced as Re-do
CaptainBardiel no, you pronounce the x.
It’s Latin, not French.
Well I bought the Wii Quartz Zone game, what do I need to get next. Oh. So you don't seem to know about that game. Maybe you should take up another hobby?
Maybe, as it was a Wii game and not very old, it wasn't suitable for a video about Rogue Trooper games people were unlikely to know existed?
Don't forget the terrible Strontium Dog game and Nemesis the Warlock... Which I remember being crap too.
