I heard the Grudge scream in all its glorious glory live several times 20 years ago. It's now 2022. If MJK can no longer do the scream, then he can't. The mans had Covid and he's what 57? Give him a break. He sounds fn amazing by the way 👏👏👏
Bro he did the scream tho. That's amazing af. And yeah he'll yeah this dude been calm now he don't have all that in him like he used to BUT he wants us all to know he can whoop Jesus ass in a heart beat.
I don't want to start something with a Tool fan, nope i really don't but i want to say something about MJK too. Mate, can you please take a moment and look at Danny please? That guy is 60 and he literally plays better than his youth. That's work ethics for you. 57 is not an old age, especially if you are doing the vocals. There are hundreds of rock vocalists out there that could sing better than current MJK besides being older than him. It seems to me that MJK stopped caring about his vocals - and may be band Tool- long ago. I mean, im a lifetime Tool fan and i literally play them songs on my guitar and all but last 15 years... I really can't say nice things about MJK, concerning Tool. He has other bands and other songs now. Tool became the side project and in his new bands, in his new songs, he doesn't need a killer strong vocal. He just sings casually. That's all for me. Peace out.
Thank you! Have some compassion, right? Most singers that have been in the game as long as Maynard aren't half the singer they were when they started. This guy has kept 99% of his juice, so far as I can tell, despite two bouts of covid, sustained lung damage, and *clears throat* his advanced age. (Feels weird to think of Maynard as an almost senior citizen.)
I don't want them to be remembered like The Rolling Stones. Mick Jagger flapping around on stage doing his signature "atomic rooster" in his 80s looks ridiculous.
After 20 years he was definitely ready for his "GRUDGE" to be unleashed onto the world yet again and allow his voice and his loyal musically talented colleagues to lead the masses.
Dude had COVID two times now and his admitted long complications since then I wouldn't expect him to hold that endurance test out the whole length I wonder how he does on push it
He also did the same in 2023. Similar shortened down version as this but still sounded amazing. Still the most pristine band I've ever seen in concert.
Thanks Guys....been a fan back in 91' ...I've been playing drums for 30plus years, I still can't master one Tool song, I mean I can play like 90% but there's those Danney Paradiddle flop chops with 16 on the floor, 4/4 on hats, and some other thing on the ride happening while using toms as off accents and snare is on a 2/4 posi beat..
I was at that 1st show of the Lateralus tour in Atlanta 2001. The wait was hours outside The Tabernacle because that was the start of people printing fake tickets so they were checking everyone's tickets with the machines. The show was delayed hours. They opened with this song. Those were the days. So damn amazing!! I saw them at the 1st Lollapalooza too😁 way back when
@@brandenrogers9507 dude! I'm always keeping an eye out for it. I've been to hundreds of rock b metal shows and THAT one will always be the most memorable... also, the 2 chicks next to us were dancers from another state so after the show was memorable too 😁 it was like I won the lottery
Seen them 3 times on that tour later on in Atlanta Greenville sc and Charlotte. Amazing tour I tried everything I could do to get tickets for that show it was the tabernacle show me and 3 friends even drove down there to scalp tickets with no luck but we stayed outside u could hear them stayed outside through the whole show great memories lol
the only band I haven't witnessed and im running out of time. BEEN A FAN SINCE OPIATED. im 45 now despite not ever seeing them they are one of the greatest live acts ever.my buddy seen them at a small venue here in winnipeg and to this day it still haunts him. the bottom is my favorite song, and lateralus is a masterpiece in all its form.
Get tickets if you can. I've said this before and I'll say it again, Tool is an experience like no other. I've been to countless concerts over the years and apart from my beloved Depeche Mode, Tool is the only other band I've seen live that brought tears of joy. Their shows are visceral and bring nothing but pure joy and happiness. Make it your business to see them because you will not be disappointed 😌
Terrible recording. MJK sounds way different in real life. I've witnessed it live in all incantations over the years and he takes my breath away every time.
Absolutely. Live there's nothing like the Grudge. Recordings are rarely good. You have to hear MJK to appreciate what an amazing frontman he is. His voice is unreal 🔥🔥🔥
@@rubaidaallen2764 APC 13th step live is one of my favorite memories. They played a tiny venue in Deep Ellum area of Dallas Texas. Have been to awesome Puscifer concerts as well.

@@rubaidaallen2764 Ticks and Leeches is the hardest Tool song to sing probably.. I am actually surprised he did the scream in the new Opiate2 recording, because I see the live versions he omitted the ending scream.
Cant wait to see them at the Honda Center It's ok if he cant hold it for the whole 30 some seconds like in the studio recording. Still a great performance
You mean 13 years of Hiatus. 10.000 Days was released in 2006, Fear Incoculum in 2019. And they did tour in between. So what hiatus was lasting 20 years? I saw them in 2017 for example.
He'll abridge himself live during more demanding parts to maintain his voice throughout the show. It's something he's smartly always done, dating back to the yell at the end of Bottom even in '93.
Bet it wouldn't take long to make new friends there, don't let yourself hold you back. I'm sitting here in northern Australia grinding my teeth in frustration knowing I'll never get the chance to see them live, unless someone wants to gift me a concert ticket and flights, hint hint.😁😇
I'm Portuguese but as they don't come here, I'll go to London alone to see them. I think it will be the experience of my life. Don't let the opportunity pass you by, later you will regret it.
Yeah I think he uses several different voice effects on some of the songs to help him. But I'm completely fine with that because he sings for a living you can get wore out and he is older.
…. didn’t do the whole thing. Just sayin Haha, Kidding. I literally got goosebumps when I heard this! I saw them play this in ‘01 and ‘02 and he did it. I almost wonder if it’s planned.
I mean it's 12 seconds instead of the original being 25 seconds.. Just like with the new Opiate re-recording he can still do it, not as powerful or long as back in the day...
I wish he sung Stinkfist like he used to. Now he does this weird singing part,🤷🏻♂️I’m sure he could still do it as it’s not a strenuous some other track they still play live,
For FK SAKE! Can people stop with the covid bullshit already he had the flu he got over it, he's 58 singer's lose the high pitch scream as they get older it's fact! But l give him credit it was good.
In my opinion he cannot do it and he also can't be expected to sing like he used to . He is 57 and they have toured a lot so it's perfectly normal for the mileage to show. I am a huge Tool fan but I prefer hearing their album recordings , not the live shows. Adam also has too many " mishaps and variations " on stage that just don't cut it for me , but when they're in the studio it's clear that they are brilliant as the new album shows. Can't get enough of listening to all of their recordings. The album version of the Grudge scream was studio manipulated anyway. Not real because only an opera singer can sustain the same volume of a lengthy scream without variation in pitch!
