I have had stuttering issues for over a month now with a new MB and CPU, finally your guide helped. The issue was the installation folder placement. I had it on an separate faster nvme ssd. I moved cs to the default windows C drive which is an older ssd and only uses sata3 connection, but cs2 is smooth again. Thank you for the detailed video.

I do not recommend having shadows set to low as that will stop you from seeing player's shadows in various spots of the maps. Shadows are now important in CS2.

True. I have Shadows on Very High and from Overpass monster, I could see an enemy casting shadow while jumping over T spawn. My friend who had Shadows on Low couldn't see the enemy in time and got shot.

BE AWARE! I strongly recommend turning 'High Dynamic Range' to 'QUALITY'. It makes the game look MUCH better for barely any performance impact.

For some reason if I dont use the vulkan command my game will not run at 1920 240hz. It maxes out at 1600x900 anybody know why??
For me the best settings by far has been reflex on+boost in cs2 graphics settings - fps_max 400 (normally my fps go 220-500 so in the middle) and use engine_low_latency_sleep_after_client_tick true in console/config.
I honestly felt it was day and night when I changed these settings.
PC for info: 3700x, 3060TI 16gb 3200 cl 16 and a nvme SSD used for everything.
What does the second command do?

i think exorbitant FPS doesn't make any difference...
on CSGO i use nvidia's fast v sync, which take my monitor refresh rate (75 hz) and limit the fps to its double (150) and the game feels smooth, with no tearing and no input lag.
it can only get better if I use a monitor with higher refresh rate, like 144 hz.
Exorbiant fps does make difference.1000 fps is better than 200 even if you have a 60hz monitor because you have a bigger chance to have a frame show the exact time the screen updates. There's a ton of videos about it.@@arto.mendes

My stutter issue comes from every time I launch cs2, it's sounds that are unloaded that cause's fps drops, like gunshot sounds during firefights for the first 10 minutes, after the sounds are loaded back in, the game irons back out.
where did you find this information? i can actually believe this because theres times even my friends have admited to me we couldnt hear someone running up say for example ct rushing unders on mirage he came up the stairs full sprint kissed me on the lips and no one on my team heard him running at me. We had all just loaded CS well.. however i dont get why the games loading sounds in later on... i mean i open death match and aim train on bots you think that would load them all in ?
Also dont alt tab CS2 it causes the game to fuck up completely you can have problems like mouse float, stutters and like even certain keybinds unbinding I had my game unbind my mouse 1 and scoreboard for some reason it had to do with i was on desktop but my pc thought i had the cs2 still open in view and it over lapped my clicks on desktop into the game

Nvidia reflex take you about 7 to 10 fps ... You can clearly see it in the main menu after you disable it it goes back from 110 to 120 fps
In csgo did not had any screen tearing but in cs2 i have a lot of screen tearing

I get 150-180 fps approx on a rtx 3060 (95w) , ryzen 7 5800h laptop .. .at both 1080p and 1440p . Anyone know if this is what I am supposed to get or is there smthing wrong ?
Edit : I use an external monitor for the 1440p experience. But not a lot of fps difference noticed. (video settings - Low)

What about the v-sync option inside nvidia control panel? Should that be turned Off but On in game or Application controlled?
I think if u have stutters u put both v options too on. No stutters = leave both off
on game you set it to "off", but on Nvidia panel set it to "fast".
this option will limit the fps to the double of your monitor refresh rate. in my case my monitor is 75 hz, so the game is limited to 150 fps with a v-sync feel, but without input lag.
amd issues got fixed with cmaa2 shaders thx

My monitor supports 75 hz but in game it will only say 60 or 59 hz is the highest available option. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Edit: Nvm just had to add the launch option "-refresh 75"
If you use 1280x960 75hz for instance, open nvidia control panel, click change resolution and find 1280x960. customize it to 75hz and remove other hertz options such as like 74,76,77,78 hz. try it now. it worked for me. it's lil bit buggy tho

the veritcal sinc option in cs2 feels way smoother than when i turm it off, the fps cap stays at 165 (165hz) but it feels way smoother than when i have it on off and around 250 fps, should i keep it on?
no. it makes input lag way higher

Iam getting 300-350 fps at medium settings on a 1280×960 4:3 stretched resolution
depends on your gpu, you're on a 1070 so i'd say stuck with 1280x960, any lag penalty for running a non-native res is more than likely made up for in the better frame times

Well I use an 5600xt and set my settings a bit higher because I cant get more than 300-320 frames in cs2. If the Cpu cant handle more frames its maybe better to go for the better visuals.
I totally agree - just be careful though as if GPU usage starts going about 97% you will see a MAJOR increase in overall input latency
@@Panjno I found a solution to fix my stutter problem on amd that happend most times. I just deactivated DXNAVI over the registry with a screenshot that I found on Reddit. It was from Amernime , its a costum amd driver and it worked right away from me. My Frames after the change are the same but much much smoother. And I guess the Texture option is broken because between low and high is no difference but I found a trick to manipulate it with the Video config.

fx 8320 LMAOOO, upgrade to ryzen it's been 11 years since the whole FX lineup (fx is an extremely horrible cpu and that's coming from someone that had an 8350 years ago)
So i've noticed that cs2 will not allow me to properly play the game with gsync enabled. Has anyone else caught onto this as well? My monitor is 280hz. Basically what happens when I have gsync on in cs2 is that when i pull up the menu on my monitor where it displays the current hz, the hz will flicker and keep changing very rapidly while playing, it will go down from 280 to 240 back up to 280 then down to 220 to 175 back up to 280 etc. It won't stay at 280 and just lock there as it's supposed to do. On CSGO or any other games it works perfect with gsync enabled and the monitor hz locks at 280 with no issue and none of the rapid hz changing occurs at all. Is this a known issue currently? Or does anyone know if cs2 just currently has a bug with gsync or something that hasnt been addressed yet? Haven't found any thread or anyone mentioning this at all.
Maybe your rig cannot sustain stable 280fps in cs2 while in csgo fps never dropped below 280. You can uncap your fps and see how much you're getting on a real server - fps drops in intensive gunfights etc
...
Also g-sync adds input lag so I dunno about using it in cs
@@eaqwallbender8269 my rig can sustain well above 280fps on any server so it has nothing to do with that. I also made sure to mention that this *only happens on CS2* and not on any other game. Also, to debunk that theory further, this issue happens as soon as the game is loaded and just in the menus, meaning you don’t even have to be in-game to see the hz changing on your monitor settings.
Enable Gsync on your physical monitor settings itself, then on Nvidia control panel put the setting “Monitor Technology” to Gsync Compatible. Then open CS2 and open the settings on your actual monitor itself and look where it shows your current hz, it will be flickering and not staying at 280hz. Unless I am the only one with this issue but that would be strange considering it doesn’t happen on any other game except for CS2.
@@tchnorl00What about commands like fps_max_menu or interface? Can't remember exactly their names but I saw it being set to 120 by default. Other than that idk, I have an AMD card and a Freesync 144hz monitor, so cannot test gsync

my fps seem to be capped at 165 and i can't change this with the command. I also checked amd for some fps cap in there but there is no sign of it existing in my cs 2 tab. I don't know where to look for the fps cap anymore.
Nvidia control panel...seems like you have a 165 hz monitor and vsync is turned on in Nvidia Settings

HDR performance makes everything look horrible. The other settings on low etc are fine but HDR performance looks like sandpaper.
I wouldnt recommend upscaling either.

Honestly, for me CS2 feels like a beta before CSGO will drop. I have a i5 7400 and an gtx 1060 3 gb. In CSGO i run 300 fps online, without any big tweaks. CS2 i run 70 - 200 to fix fps and lag. Ive spent aleast 50 hours just to fix stutter and fps. This game have become a "fps" game for me and im not even playing the game, its soo bad and i think i will go back to CSGO
Note: Do NOT use vulkan as it causes lots of stutterings, and increase CPU usage.

Do not use fsr. Upscaling techniques always introduce more latancy!
Especially for users that are cpu bottlenecked since source 2 is still more cpu dependant than gpu

ok just one thing to your cs2 video settings 1 always have shadow on high it will give you a disadvantages turning it off because of the way the new shadows work and only take 10-15fps from my testing and 2 enable + boost on the nvidia reflex also took about 10fps from you and enable only took like 1-3 i also didnt see the biggest difference in latency from enable to enable + boost so i would recomend putting it on enable another is high dynamic range i would put on quality unless you are experiencing below 144 fps because it will help you see people in shadows aswell
and using msaa 2 and ultra quality can give you 20-30fps boost without loosing to much quality
