I suffered a depression for years after two broken relationships. Then I decided to buy a road bike and just start cycling to free my mind and get away from my computer. I actually sold my graphics card so I could afford it. Now I can't stop, it's just ridiculously satisfying and takes you to new heights over and over again.
As someone who has been a part of dozens of sports teams since the age of 5, I can say that I completely agree with the idea that playing sports is not only good exercise for the body, but it is also good for the mind. I am a college student and a college athlete. I am a member of a 55 person swim team. I work out, both in the pool and on land, at least four hours a day. I am not only getting a significant quantity of exercise important for preventing things like diabetes and heart disease, but also I am getting additional benefits as well. My teammates keep me motivated and make me feel like I am a part of something bigger. The sport helps me stay organized and team practices change my mood significantly for the better. Playing a sport is important for not only your physical health, but also your mental strength. It is good for both the body and the brain.
It took me years to realise that exercise is so much more than just sports. Walking, cycling and swimming (in a non-competitive environment) for example are not necessarily considered sports, but they are definitely exercise and are a great way to work on your health even when you hate sports!
One important thing is that people who are bad at some of the sports get criticized everytime by sportspersons or their friends but actually they should encourage, support , understand the people who are weak in sports
Exercise has been an integral part of my life since I was 13 years old. I'm now 49 and I can still maintain the same physical health and wellbeing that I had as a teenager. I believe that exercise is the key to achieving whatever goals you set for yourself in life.
When they said, "that last minute penalty shot that wins the tournament" I smiled. My soccer team just won our tournament two days ago and I was the one who scared the winning penalty. :)
I just missed a last minute chance to send our team into the provincials final. And a game before, we were 2 minutes away from securing a spot to get to the finals when we got scored. But the memories and experience and all the hard work we put together is just amazing. We will come back stronger next year!
To play some of those sports you need money and time. My parents lacked the first one and I lacked the latter when I left tennis after one year. Loved it, it was the only activity that I liked after my mom put me through a whole range of other things troughout the years, non of which I liked: piano, dance, aerobics... Tennis was the only thing I liked and had to leave it. Now the only thing I can afford is going running.
I did swim in high school because I like that it is more individualistic and the only person I am letting down or impressing is myself. Just beating my own previous time. I still made great friends! Would definitely recommend!
Sports has been a vital part of my conscious life. For 11 years, I have been a professional swimmer and can agree that sports are the best medicine for both the body and the mind. It reduces stress and anxiety as the soothing nature of water has a calming effect on the mind. Also, it's a great way of social interaction, which in turn has excellent mental health benefits. During that period of my life I can say that I had better sleep, mindfulness, and improved mood.

well, sometimes being on a team can be proved really hard. If you have coaches and team mates that do not respect you and make you feel uncomfortable while being on the court with them, then you're gonna have the opposite results. And that is such a shame, because I've been playing volleyball in teams for eight years and recently I made the decision to stop competing just because of this phenomenon. Hope everyone finds a team that makes them feel like they are important and not useless in the team's activities.
Sports in school or college does not always help to get rid of depression. It can be the reason of it too. If you are not good in running or something else, but you want to get good mark and be on the same level with everyone, it can make you really sad. As for me, I love passive excercises, but I'm really bad runner. And I cannot stand sun and active training because of my health. It is better for me to train at special clubs, that I choose myself and do it for myself, than do excercises at college that are not suitable for me and make me sad.
I suffered from obsessions and after doing exercise training for 2 to 3 in a half months my mental health improved. I train to renew my entire body and live a long life. I don't need to rely on a gym group because gym people always give me funny looks. I Jog outside in the open with nature and breath in good air. i hate gyms for that very reason. I proven them wrong!
I think it's super important to practice sports or exercise and even go to the gym, even more so when you're young because we have more energy and it brings health benefits and I also know that when I get older I won't suffer from pain or weak bones!
This may have been the best or thee best TED Talk on why to join a sport I have watched in a long time. I am a youth sports coach and I am definitely showing this to my athletes.
It took me a while to realize how beneficial it is to work out even 10 minutes a day of jogging! I found myself being able to focus more than ever before
List of benefits for easily doing a writing lesson 1. Good for our body and mind - Strengthen our bones - Clearing out bad cholesterol - Decreasing the risk of stroke, high blood pressure, and diabetes. - Our brains release a number of chemicals such as endorphins. These natural hormones can control pain. - Sharpen our focus, improve our mood and memory
I would just workout at the gym alone and I saw results but, I was wasn't very motivated. it was until I enter a cross fit gym having a coach and being around other people it's just fun and I am seeing a lot more results.
Football and wrestling and lacrosse are getting very easy but the friendships and body I'm building are one of the many life long benefits of sports in general just do it don't think about work on your self first if you want but do it for you no one else
I think my biggest problems with sport are: my lack of stamina (just the lack energy and enthusiasm in general), I don't like being around people at all and the fact I burn calories faster than concord burns fuel like seriously I weigh like 5.5 stone and I'm like 5ft 4'' tall I cant put on weight and I eat a lot.
I have learned to have a high control of my body language, I understand music and rhythm better, I express my feelings through it and my knowledge of canonical culture is wider, which gives me more tools for interpretation and analysis. Oh, and I can spread my legs like a pro-hoe, which gives me fun moments, trips and money.
Adephonsus Thats pretty cool actually the talents that I got from swimming are that I can hold my breath for a long time, I've got a lot of stamina I could dive to 4,5 metres and my arms are longer than average
This video made me nostalgic and pissed at my younger self I used to do a lot of sports Now I do none, stuck on PC a lot of the time for Covid, and am on the brink of collapse in the HSC course That depressed and pessimistic mindset has really shown Now I want to change it, and I’m starting with a small walk each day
In America, if you don't have a lot of money is very hard to do sports. Because if you are an immigrant, you cannot join a team because you have to be good to join the school team. That is why I usually go to the gym for workout, but it will be nice if high and middle schools would begin giving opportunity to people with less ability on sports to take a sport for free.
This felt a bit like an advertisement for sports, which I'm completely fine with. I think as long as all kids find an activity that is healthy and they love, then they'll be happy.
Everything about this video is true, and I would say the pros outweigh the cons... the only bad part is getting an injury and missing half the season :(
In opinion ,at the beginning you are the only one who can make the decision to do sport alone or with group then eventually you must join a group because no one can achieve something alone without losing his mind.
That's a really far extreme. This video is meant to push people to take the first steps to a healthier life. Although the that is a possibility, they aim to put forth a healthy mindset to engaging in sports.
Depends on the sport and how likely overtraining is to happen. Enhancing substances are also a factor. The point of the video is to promote a healthier lifestyle through sports as recreation, and the evidence is undeniable.
I've been training since I was 7. I love it and I know it's healthy in many different ways, I know it's good for me and that makes me so happy. I wanna feel healthy, strong and confident. And I do. My sport is a part of me. Part of my life. I work out almost every day. It helped me make so many amazing friends and I'm so thankful for that. Without this I wouldn't be who I am now. Trainings even helped me feel better when I wasn't at my best. NOW PLEASE READ THIS!! ↓↓↓ You are awesome. You have to treat yourself the right way. Any sport is good for you. And there is no sport that you aren't good enough for. Try out for whatever you like. Don't be scared. Just do it. As soon as you can. You'll be healthier. You'll be happier. I promise you. Now I've seen comments like "I can't play sports because of social anxiety" NO. Get over it. You actually have to play sports if you are suffering from something like this. It will help you improve your social skills. You will meet so many nice people there. Please trust me! You deserve it. Your mind and your body deserve it. AND REMEMBER THIS : You will never FAIL. You can only LEARN.
This content is superior. I found a book with related themes to be equally pivotal. "The Art of Meaningful Relationships in the 21st Century" by Leo Flint
me too and my parents never got me into sports when i was little. At least when you're little, it is acceptable and even look cute when you fall. As an adult i feel stupid for even trying. I just look retarded.
well then I´m screwed for not have entered anysports, yet the social benefits for being on a team can be somewhat achieved through me being a passionate scout, mostly just for the great joy of company
I'm 14, playing american football - QB & LB. Are you saying that having me as one of the most experienced players, it boosts my team that I give them critic and not the boost they need?
After a few more shots of missing you get looked down on by everyone and decided to quit sports cause you lack the talent... Exercising is much better for me.
Because there is no filter for non-intelligent people. Not everyone can become a surgeon or a researcher. But all you need to become a sportsmen is to have basic animal abilities, like running, and.. uhm, understanding that a ball is a ball.
I feel like a lot of those benefits are also achieved through e-sports tournaments except for the physical benefit. I would like to see a video on how competitive multiplayer games benefit one compared to traditional sports.
Can someone explain me why I can't find the euphoria when running just like others do ? I tried for about 2 weeks everyday to lose some weight, but i actually didn't like running : i'm tired at the end of the session and i want to vomit, i'm so screwed that i can't enjoy my day after.
OK I'm sorry but I'm not made for sports. never in my life have I ever had a runners high, I simply hate moving my body away from my bed. playing soccer in a team made me very frustrated with myself and angry at my team, shouting and picking up fights with my teammates. I always gave the ball to others, because they wanted it so badly and I didn't want my opponent to loose. when fencing I would simply stand there and not move and cry when I got home. in school I would always get bad grades for similar reasons, which made me get frustrated with myself. I never wanted to take away the ball from the others, so that they wouldn't have to feel the way I did. basically, I hate sports and I almost always end up crying when I do some.
I'm definitely the same way! I was bullied and that intensified at school sports, for which I just don't have aptitude, so I absolutely hate sports. But sports aren't the only exercise you can do! All you have to do is find a type of exercise you do like. For me, for example, it was hiking and swimming, and I feel much better now that I do regularly get moving. ;-)
It's not to bad if you don't want to play in a team, but it's crucial that you at least do some physical exercise. People generally think of physical exercise as something we do just because it makes us fitter and more attractive, but that's a mistake. It's actually a basic body need just like hygiene or socialization. Depression, anxiety, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart diseases, etc: if you don't move enough, you WILL get sick from it. On another hand, the specific nature of the exercise you do is much less important as long as it gets your blood flowing and the intensity is high enough. Pick whatever sport you like or whatever fits in you schedule best. If you live in the city, just commuting on a bicycle is enough to make a big difference and it can also save you a bit of money. It's now known that even 5 minutes of exercise 2 or 3 times a day is enough to improve your mood noticeably: virtually everyone can fit 5 minutes of jumping jacks here and there in their busy day.
I suffered a depression for years after two broken relationships. Then I decided to buy a road bike and just start cycling to free my mind and get away from my computer. I actually sold my graphics card so I could afford it.
Now I can't stop, it's just ridiculously satisfying and takes you to new heights over and over again.

As for me, I love passive excercises, but I'm really bad runner. And I cannot stand sun and active training because of my health. It is better for me to train at special clubs, that I choose myself and do it for myself, than do excercises at college that are not suitable for me and make me sad.
Do sports for yourself, not for marks. Just try to improve your own results.
toughen up and go work out unless u wanna die at 56
I suffered from obsessions and after doing exercise training for 2 to 3 in a half months my mental health improved. I train to renew my entire body and live a long life. I don't need to rely on a gym group because gym people always give me funny looks. I Jog outside in the open with nature and breath in good air. i hate gyms for that very reason. I proven them wrong!
What if i don't like sports?
...or people?
Thank you, another sensible person.
Try simple workouts indoors
u got to like em man !! come on , it is your biggest mistake , do not continue with this
maybe sport. I never go to gym alone..
Then to quote JB " Go love yourself"
I think it's super important to practice sports or exercise and even go to the gym, even more so when you're young because we have more energy and it brings health benefits and I also know that when I get older I won't suffer from pain or weak bones!

I love sports and I love the memories. Some of the best memories of my life are playing hockey.
This may have been the best or thee best TED Talk on why to join a sport I have watched in a long time. I am a youth sports coach and I am definitely showing this to my athletes.
It took me a while to realize how beneficial it is to work out even 10 minutes a day of jogging! I found myself being able to focus more than ever before
i needed this for school, and the vid actually helped me and was kind of cool.
this is powerful I actually cried when I saw the beauty of quantum physics
List of benefits for easily doing a writing lesson

So Messi benefitted from his penalty miss?
up you go!
I knew there was gonna be a comment like this! Lol
Too soon?
LOL

I would just workout at the gym alone and I saw results but, I was wasn't very motivated. it was until I enter a cross fit gym having a coach and being around other people it's just fun and I am seeing a lot more results.
This made me feel like a useless sloth ._.
I really need to find a sport
Go for t!
Try different sports and find one you like!
There are plenty of sports! Just gotta find one you like.
You should try fencing. We lose about 800 calories per hour and it's an incredibly psychological sport
if u think your legs are stronger than ur arms , go soccer!
The rowing boat is supposed to have the rowers facing opposite direction of the boat. Jus' sayin'
this is Bob

Hi
But Bob just commented...
My Nephew had a bunch of obstacles to overcome and I'm sure that being on teams all the way to High School probably saved him in a lot of ways.
Ah yes that moment when the team all turn around and blame me. It's heartwarming to be the cause of all that lovely bonding. 😂
I also find it messed up how they just kept moving after she fell in the water- lol
And I get embarrassed whenever I'm in a group sport thing and I miss a goal or the basket or finish in last place
Happens to all of us!
Football and wrestling and lacrosse are getting very easy but the friendships and body I'm building are one of the many life long benefits of sports in general just do it don't think about work on your self first if you want but do it for you no one else
Oh.... I played many sports. Yet my memories and mental strength doesn’t improve T_T
Wow!, wtf where the rowers doing on 3:06 ?!!. Rowing forward? Haha
lols I know right? Animators need to get out more. :p
f you
Its was clearly made to be viewed backwards XD Wait don't take that seriously.. I know some people will.
@Achima Maasai frick AHAHAHA :P
@@chupachuks uh
Choosing to play lacrosse was one of the best decisions in my life. It has become so rewarding all the way through adulthood.
3:07 for competitive speed rowing they move in the wrong direction
Lol
lol
I do ballet and the benefits are even more. Everyone should find something to do for exercising. I suggest dancing, because it is also art.
Really? Like what?
I have learned to have a high control of my body language, I understand music and rhythm better, I express my feelings through it and my knowledge of canonical culture is wider, which gives me more tools for interpretation and analysis. Oh, and I can spread my legs like a pro-hoe, which gives me fun moments, trips and money.
Adephonsus Thats pretty cool actually the talents that I got from swimming are that I can hold my breath for a long time, I've got a lot of stamina I could dive to 4,5 metres and my arms are longer than average
I would like a video explaining how diseases are inherited and how my mom and sisters can have the same illness and I am with out it.
While watching this I was eating KFC :)
Tortillas with mayonnaise 😵😵😵😵
Sheesh okai
KFC yummy
mee to
This video made me nostalgic and pissed at my younger self
I used to do a lot of sports
Now I do none, stuck on PC a lot of the time for Covid, and am on the brink of collapse in the HSC course
That depressed and pessimistic mindset has really shown
Now I want to change it, and I’m starting with a small walk each day
Very good video 👏
is that michael jackson 0:13
Gyaaaaaaaaat 🥵🥵🥵
otak kita menghasilkan beberapa bahan kimia saat kita berolahraga
In America, if you don't have a lot of money is very hard to do sports. Because if you are an immigrant, you cannot join a team because you have to be good to join the school team. That is why I usually go to the gym for workout, but it will be nice if high and middle schools would begin giving opportunity to people with less ability on sports to take a sport for free.
This felt a bit like an advertisement for sports, which I'm completely fine with. I think as long as all kids find an activity that is healthy and they love, then they'll be happy.
I love playing sports, I play volleyball, soccer & basketball. 😂⚽️🏀🏐
starts at 0:35
Everything about this video is true, and I would say the pros outweigh the cons... the only bad part is getting an injury and missing half the season :(
This video is really amazing to understand children in online
Classes this video is just amazing
What a great little clip!
In opinion ,at the beginning you are the only one who can make the decision to do sport alone or with group then eventually you must join a group because no one can achieve something alone without losing his mind.
What about over exercise? Athletes have a lower life expectancy. Come on... tackle both sides of this.
That's a really far extreme. This video is meant to push people to take the first steps to a healthier life. Although the that is a possibility, they aim to put forth a healthy mindset to engaging in sports.
Not only over-excercise but also bad excercise, like sit ups that are known to put stress on the spine.
+wojtekimbier so is playing video games for 10 hours...
that's doping and overdoing shit. We're talking amateur tier
Depends on the sport and how likely overtraining is to happen. Enhancing substances are also a factor.
The point of the video is to promote a healthier lifestyle through sports as recreation, and the evidence is undeniable.
Will you please do a video on fencing? That is, if you haven't already.
What are the 3 benefits of exercise?
I need this it’s for school .-.
Me too
Me too 🤣💔
Same
I've been training since I was 7.
You are awesome. AND REMEMBER THIS :
You will never FAIL.
You can only LEARN.
I should really start exercising... is what I have said for the past 3 years.
Jingya Sun now 6 years
Now 7
Yes
I am too lazy to do sports
Nobody loves you
shut up fatboy
+Unusual Mind I am actually 55 kg. I don't know what you fat americans use but it's equal to 121 pounds I guess?
I do running. I was never really into sports but I really enjoy running. Guess I just hate people. 😂
+Hassan Akyel i was talking to eric cartman
This content is superior. I found a book with related themes to be equally pivotal. "The Art of Meaningful Relationships in the 21st Century" by Leo Flint
Last time I was this early...Watchmojo didn't post a video (or five) yet
lol,finally someone is original
Watchmojo sucks
Sport ist sehr wichtig in unserem Leben. Sport sollte immer betrieben werden.
Love the Video but yey could have least made the rowing boat go the right direction
I approve of this message, thanks.
Oh... Well that's nice knowing... **sits back in chair**
Use full video🙏🙏
Well... I go to the gym with my friends so.... the effects are the same or not?
Thanks man! Helped me in my science class 10/10
I used to like playing basketball, but at grade 9, coach in charge said I was too short to play.
Thats sad
That's what I don't like about basketball. Play soccer then! Anyone is invited.
I'm gonna tell you like everyone. Try fencing
Try netball! It's really fun and height doesn't matter !
You don't have to be in a team, play it on the street, with friends and strangers.
SPORTS IS AMAZING
I suck at sports 😢
Everyone else does too, it's all practice
me too
I've never had that problem...
I always get an 8 in physical education, my worse grade.
me too and my parents never got me into sports when i was little. At least when you're little, it is acceptable and even look cute when you fall. As an adult i feel stupid for even trying. I just look retarded.
i mostly agree
Does exercising reduce depression or does depression reduce our will to exercise?
Both.
Depression is a downward spiral.....find Jesus
I'm shy and I have crippling depression.

Regular participation in sports enhances cardiovascular health, but it also has some benefits for your mental health since it reduces stress levels.
i’m here bc of school :(
well then I´m screwed for not have entered anysports, yet the social benefits for being on a team can be somewhat achieved through me being a passionate scout, mostly just for the great joy of company
Esports is the only sport i need.
I'm 14, playing american football - QB & LB.
Are you saying that having me as one of the most experienced players, it boosts my team that I give them critic and not the boost they need?
I love to play games but not sports, get it?
I love this video for my english lesson🫶🏼
After a few more shots of missing you get looked down on by everyone and decided to quit sports cause you lack the talent...
Exercising is much better for me.
Meanwhile your self steem and confidence can get a big boost ....... IF YOU WIN!! if not you just get bullied and deppressed again.
How come a lot of good sportsmen i know arent the most intelligent?
As a kid do you choose reading or running? you perfer one and do it alot more than the other.
Because there is no filter for non-intelligent people. Not everyone can become a surgeon or a researcher. But all you need to become a sportsmen is to have basic animal abilities, like running, and.. uhm, understanding that a ball is a ball.
+The Last Armadillo You didn't get my point, did you?
I guess you just aren't lucky
+Modibo Kearney good answer!
I feel like a lot of those benefits are also achieved through e-sports tournaments except for the physical benefit. I would like to see a video on how competitive multiplayer games benefit one compared to traditional sports.
Do E-Sports count? :)
Abram Moore xD
Good video really helped thanks bro
Can someone explain me why I can't find the euphoria when running just like others do ? I tried for about 2 weeks everyday to lose some weight, but i actually didn't like running : i'm tired at the end of the session and i want to vomit, i'm so screwed that i can't enjoy my day after.
Everyone is different, brother...
Same here
I feel the same way, I think that running is not my sport, we probably should try others
any vids on the benefits of sleeping and relaxing?
For me, for example, it was hiking and swimming, and I feel much better now that I do regularly get moving. ;-)
individual sports may be the key, I play tennis and golf, and yet there is a team, you play by yourself.
+kamizushi akinari
Exactly, living things were born to exercise. Just look at wild animals.
(not pets, they're lazy just like us)
Isabella Bornberg me too fam
Thanks for making this video focused on girls :)
Seems like only girls do sport. That's good for me, so I can get fat and die early.
Only girls play sports? What?
+ninja2566 I think he means in the video? haha
That is probably because the video is sponsored by Always, which has a campaign that encourages girls to play sports.
***** nah, that's just a girl with short hair ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
