Bios updates are the most anxiety driven experiences
Especially when it's automatically installed by Windows Update.
Only update a bios if needed.
Agree. So is having to re-flash a corrupted one. 😮
Not on any aftermarket motherboard where you flash the bios in the bios itself off a usb stick. Flashing in Windows itself is sketchy.

I also find resetting the bios to factory settings to be helpful. You never know what settings the company IT guy has on it.

THE HP Z440 Desktop is the perfect upgrade for Windows 11 64bit 23H2 on a 2TB SSD it will get the job done
Build one of these up for my wife. Nvidia 1080, 128 gigs of ram, 1 TB NVME and 6 cores. All for $400-450. She loves how quiet it is. She had a high end Nuc but this thing is faster.
Add a Sata Dual DVD Burner Drive or a Dual Blu Ray Burner Sata Drive for the upgrade

I am happy to hear it turned out well, though 20% increase almost seems 'tame' - though, honestly, the m4000 isn't a slouch - just old. The m6000 is basically a 980ti... sorta... It's one of my top list old GPUs as I had insane luck with the 980ti - I don't play FPS games, the folks who ask me for computers don't either, LOL.
I love low end builds that perform, and this seemed like a good candidate for that.
And, also, I don't think I've said it, glad you are doing better now brother.
Hp really loves their BIOS updates I don't actually know what they do between versions but I assume it'd have to be important for them to be updating their BIOS for over a decade after their release every few months
Apps will run smoothly
Dont know if this is applicable to this pc or not, but some hps can be auto updated in the bios so long as there is a working wired internet connection available

Do you know why sometimes there can be problem when changing the Secure boot and Legecy Bios option.

I wanted an HPZ 440 2 years ago but couldn't find one. I settled for an older Z620 that you can do curls with it's so heavy. I used it as a daily but lately I use it to test out used GPUs. It has an 800W PSU so I can test the most demanding cards with it. My smaller Z230 fits my needs well so I use it more. HP workstations make decent budget gaming machines in a pinch.
If you turn it off during the bios update if you dosen't have second bios chip to autorecover you will need to disolder the bios chip from the motherboart and flash it manualy with program and then put it back on the motherboard. GG

Just got the same HP Z440 but it boots to mini orom display and I'm trying to get to the BIOS, is there a way to boot into bios
the etra 2 pins are gound wich pull no power and one of then is a gornded sense wire anyways so yea your good

Sad, the chipset on Z440 is C612 (ain't X99).
Unlike mind (Z400) the chipset is X58 express. So i can used the Core i7 series processors
apparently the i7 varients work in this machine. you'll need to use non ecc ram though.

You recommend a Logitech keyboard for your test bench. Windows 10 hasn't been able to find drivers for my Logitech mouse & keyboard for months. If you're running Win 10, be prepared not to have Logitech keyboard & mouse drivers available.
